World Evolution: Starting With The Wind Monarch
Chapter 31: Sinner Of Future DescendantsEvan arrived near the guards and saw the two Level 25 guards throwing cold water over Mike’s face. They were also occasionally slapping him, but despite their efforts, he showed no signs of waking up.
"Just how badly was this guy beaten that he isn’t showing any signs of waking up?"
"This guy is really a disgrace to the name of a Rank One Evolver. Even if I were beaten to a pulp, I would definitely wake up if someone slapped me like this."
One of the Level 25 guards spoke as he slapped Mike again, making his head jerk to the side.
As Mike’s head was slapped to the side, Evan noticed something and blinked his eyes. He then looked more closely, and the corners of his lips curled upward slightly.
’I have to say, although he is strange, the things that old villain taught me are really useful...’
He looked at Charles, the captain of the guard team.
"Looks like your method of waking this scum isn’t working. I also need to ask him something, so how about I help you?"
Charles was taken aback when he heard Evan and was about to refuse, thinking that Evan was still too young to take part in these kinds of things.
But when he remembered the reason behind Mike’s current condition, the words got stuck in his throat and he eventually nodded.
"Alright. Give it a try and see if it works."
Evan nodded and walked closer to Mike.
The two Level 25 guards immediately stepped aside and looked at him curiously. They also wanted to know how Evan planned to wake Mike when the man didn’t look like he would regain consciousness anytime soon.
Evan stopped in front of Mike and spoke in a low voice.
"So, how long are you planning to pretend?"
Mike didn’t respond. His head remained tilted to the side after receiving the earlier slap.
The others couldn’t hear what Evan was saying because his voice was too low, so they looked at him in confusion.
"You are really hell-bent on acting like a sleeping beauty, huh..."
Evan shook his head when Mike didn’t respond, and a cold look flashed in his eyes.
Suddenly, he pointed one of his fingers at Mike.
Woosh!
A Wind Bullet appeared in front of him and shot toward Mike’s shoulder.
Bang!
The bullet pierced through his shoulder, leaving a bloody hole.
Surprisingly, Mike still showed no reaction.
The guards were stunned when they saw this, and their mouths twitched.
"What do you think you are doing?" John, the second Rank One guards shouted angrily. "We still need to question him after he wakes up! He has already lost a lot of blood because of his injuries. If you continue attacking him like this, he could die from blood loss, and we won’t be able to find out if there are other children they’ve captured."
Evan glanced at John as if he were looking at an idiot.
"If a Rank One Evolver is going to die just because he received a little beating and lost some blood, wouldn’t that make him a joke in the world of Evolvers?"
John was momentarily speechless upon hearing Evan’s words.
However, he quickly recovered and spoke coldly.
"Maybe he won’t die from blood loss, but who knows what you’re actually trying to do? You could simply be pretending to wake him up while actually trying to kill him. After all, you are just an unranked Evolver who hasn’t even reached Level 25. If you kill him, you will receive a tremendous boost in your power."
The entire scene suddenly fell silent.
Even Charles had the urge to facepalm after hearing his subordinate’s words.
The expressions of the other two guards also became strange.
"If he wanted to kill him to increase his level, he would have done it long ago, even before we arrived here..." Anna spoke with a speechless expression. "Why would he wait until we arrived to kill him?"
"That..."
John was stunned by Anna’s words and didn’t know what to say.
"You seem quite concerned about this guy..." Evan suddenly spoke.
"I am m just concerned about the other children. What if these slave traders captured more than those three children? We can get a lot of information from him," John immediately replied.
"Is that so..." Evan nodded, and his eyes turned cold.
"Since that’s the case, then it’s even more urgent to wake this bastard as soon as possible. We can’t let anything happen to those children."
He turned toward Mike, and a sneer appeared on his face.
"Looks like you have no intention of stopping your act. Since that’s the case, I can only use the method an old villain taught me when dealing with men."
The expressions of the guards and William suddenly changed upon hearing Evan’s words, and they instinctively felt a chill in a certain area of their bodies.
Anna noticed their strange reactions and looked at William curiously.
"Why does everyone suddenly look so tense?"
William looked at her with an awkward expression before suddenly pointing into the distance.
"Look, there is a strange bird over there."
Anna followed the direction he pointed but couldn’t see anything.
"I don’t see any strange bird."
"Look closely. You will see it eventually. The bird has eight legs and two heads. I have never seen anything like it before. Look carefully, or you will regret missing such a strange bird for the rest of your life."
Anna’s mind went blank when she heard that the bird had eight legs and two heads.
She didn’t even bother looking in the direction he was pointing and instead asked suspiciously,
"What are you trying to do?"
William froze when he heard her question, and an awkward expression appeared on his face.
He couldn’t exactly tell her that he had a pretty good idea what Evan was planning to do and that didn’t want his little sister to witness his method of dealing with a man.
While William desperately tried to think of an excuse, Evan’s voice suddenly reached them.
"I have heard people like you use most of their money to play around with women. If I destroy the tool you use to play around, I will be game over for you, right?"
’Damn, he is really planning on targeting that thing...’
William’s mouth twitched when he heard Evan’s words.
Anna, on the other hand, was a little confused at first. But when she finally looked past William and saw a Wind Bullet hovering right in front of a certain part of Mike’s body, she immediately understood what was happening.
It also made her realize why William had been trying to distract her.
Anna felt embarrassed and immediately glared at William.
"You should have just told me not to look."
’How could I say that? If I told you not to look, you would definitely look to satisfy your curiosity...’
William muttered inwardly, feeling helpless.
Meanwhile, Evan calmly looked at Mike, his face showing no emotion.
"You have ten seconds. If you keep pretending, you will definitely be cursed by your future descendants for killing them even before they were born."
Mike still didn’t react, but Evan wasn’t concerned and continued counting.
"You have five seconds left before my Bullet of the Endgame ends the game of your life."
Evan’s voice echoed through the tense silence.
"Five..."
Mike remained motionless.
"Four..."
Still nothing.
"Three..."
No reaction.
"Two..."
Mike continued pretending to be unconscious.
"And..."
Just as Evan was about to finish counting—
Mike’s eyes suddenly snapped open, and he immediately tried to drag his body away.
"Can’t pretend anymore, huh..."
Evan watched coldly as Mike desperately dragged himself across the ground, trying to escape.
