When Evan arrived at the gate of Rivo City, he saw many people entering and exiting the city.
Most of them were Evolvers and merchants.
Evan wasn’t surprised to see so many Evolvers. After all, Rivo City was the closest city to the Dark Forest, making it a popular destination for Evolvers who wanted to hunt magical beasts and increase their levels.
After hunting magical beasts, they could also sell their bodies and valuable materials to the merchants in the city.
There was a queue at the city gate, and everyone had to verify their identity before entering the city.
Charles didn’t wait in the queue and instead led Evan and the others directly toward the guards standing at the gate.
When the two gate guards saw someone approaching without waiting in line, they were about to shout at them, but their expressions quickly changed when they recognized who was approaching.
"Greetings, Captain Charles."
The two guards immediately saluted Charles and stepped aside to let them pass.
Charles nodded at them before entering the city with Evan and the others.
When the two gate guards noticed John being dragged along with his hands bound by special handcuffs, they were stunned and immediately realized that something serious must have happened.
As Evan entered Rivo City, he looked around curiously.
There were numerous shops lining both sides of the streets, and people were busy buying and selling all kinds of items.
Potions, magical beast meat, weapons, armor, equipment, and various other resources could be found throughout the city.
Although Evan was curious about them, he didn’t want to waste his time looking around.
He just wanted to finish everything here as quickly as possible so that he could return to the Dark Forest and continue increasing his level.
Once he reached Level 25, he would gain the opportunity to choose his first Job Class.
Just thinking about what kind of Job Class he would obtain made Evan feel excited.
After walking for around ten minutes, they finally arrived at the guard office.
The guard office was a large building with a signboard hanging above its entrance. The words "Guard Office" were written on it in deep red.
There was nothing particularly impressive about the building, and it looked very ordinary.
If Evan hadn’t known that it was the guard office, he would have mistaken it for an abandoned warehouse belonging to some merchant.
After entering the building, Charles looked at Evan and the others.
"You three, please wait here for a while. I have to report everything that happened today to the commander."
Evan, Anna, and William nodded.
Charles then left with John and Mike, while one of the Level 25 guards led Evan and the others toward a waiting room.
When Evan entered the room, he immediately noticed a little girl sitting on a chair with a nervous expression on her face.
A bowl of soup was placed in front of her, but she wasn’t eating it. Instead, she kept looking around anxiously.
When the little girl noticed someone entering the room, her body flinched, and she became even more tense.
But when she saw that it was Anna, William, and Evan, her tense body relaxed slightly as she recognized all three of them.
William and Anna were the ones she had warned in the forest, while Evan was the person who had saved her from the slave trader.
Evan was also surprised when he saw her sitting in the waiting room.
However, he quickly remembered that she wasn’t from Rivo City, so the guards couldn’t send her back home yet.
He thought for a moment before walking toward her.
Seeing Evan approaching, the girl became tense again.
Not wanting to make her uncomfortable, Evan stopped a few steps away from her.
"Are you feeling better now?"
The girl simply nodded without saying anything.
Seeing her being so quiet, Evan didn’t know what to say.
He was already not good at talking to people since he hadn’t had much interaction with others throughout his life, and talking to a child was even more difficult for him.
Suddenly, his gaze fell on the bowl of soup in front of her.
"You haven’t eaten anything. Is the food not good?"
Hearing Evan, the girl mumbled something in a very low voice.
Because of her almost whisper-like voice, Evan couldn’t hear her clearly.
"Ugh... Can you speak a little louder?"
The girl hesitated upon hearing Evan but remained silent.
Seeing this, Anna, who had been watching them from the side walked closer.
She glanced at the bowl of soup before speaking.
"It’s medicinal soup. It tastes bitter, so I think she doesn’t like the taste."
"Medicinal soup..." A look of understanding flashed across Evan’s face.
When he looked at the girl again, he noticed that her face had turned slightly red after hearing Anna’s words.
Evan walked toward the bowl and took a small taste of the soup.
The instant the soup entered his mouth, his eyes twitched violently.
The taste was really horrible.
For a moment, Evan seriously considered spitting it out.
But seeing the little girl looking at him curiously, he somehow forced himself to swallow it.
Seeing Evan swallow the soup, the girl was stunned and became tense, thinking he was going to tell her to drink it.
However, to her surprise, Evan made a strange expression and shook his head.
"How can they give a child something like this? I wm sure even they wouldn’t be able to drink it."
He looked at her and smiled.
"I am hungry too. How about we eat something tasty together? It’s magical food, and it tastes really good. It’ll also help you recover faster."
The girl’s eyes immediately sparkled upon hearing Evan, and she nodded enthusiastically.
Now that she knew Evan also disliked the medicinal soup, she seemed much less nervous around him.
Evan took out some food that his grandmother had packed for him before he left for the Dark Forest.
Because he had kept it inside his Storage Ring, the food was still fresh.
"Oh..."
The little girl made a strange sound when she saw Evan seemingly pull the food out of thin air and quickly covered her mouth with both hands.
Evan smiled when he saw her reaction.
"What is your name?"
"Lia."
The girl answered quietly, her eyes still glued to the food in Evan’s hands.
Evan placed the food on the table and then looked toward Anna and William.
"Why don’t you two join us as well? You’ll love the food my grandmother made."
Anna and William had no reason to refuse, so they accepted his invitation.
Evan took out more food from his Storage Ring.
It wasn’t meat from a high-level magical beast because Lia hadn’t turned fifteen yet and wouldn’t be able to safely consume meat from a high-level magical beast.
When Lia tasted the food, her eyes immediately sparkled.
All of her earlier nervousness disappeared, and she began eating happily.
Anna and William also tasted the food and were surprised to find that although the meat wasn’t from a high-level magical beast, it still tasted exceptionally good.
While eating, Evan suddenly remembered something.
"Lia, which city do you live in?"
Anna and William also looked toward Mia. They hadn’t known where she was from either.
When Mia heard Evan’s question, she stopped eating for a moment before replying.
"I am from Sky Pearl City."
