World Evolution: Starting With The Wind Monarch

Chapter 52: Colossal Skeleton General (Part 5)

Evan looked at the approaching skeleton and began to think.

’I was barely able to damage its knee joint after three hours of continuous attacks when it was in its giant form. But now that it has shrunk in size and its bones have become even harder, I won’t be able to damage it no matter what I do...’

Evan’s eyes narrowed as his gaze landed on the red crystal embedded in the skeleton’s forehead.

’I don’t have much strength or stamina left to attack like before. My only option is to attack that crystal and hope that my gut feeling was right and that it will die once the crystal is destroyed.’

Seeing the skeleton slowly approaching him, Evan took the initiative and dashed toward it.

He arrived before the skeleton in the blink of an eye and slashed toward its forehead, where the crystal was located.

The skeleton immediately raised its sword to defend itself, and soon, Evan and the skeleton were fighting at close range with their swords.

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

The skeleton’s swordsmanship was extremely good.

Despite having Basic Sword Art, Evan couldn’t gain any advantage against it.

Moreover, because he was already extremely exhausted, the skeleton was even beginning to slowly surpass him.

Evan slashed toward the skeleton’s crystal once again, and the skeleton immediately used its sword to counterattack.

CLANG!

Their swords clashed.

However, at that exact moment, Evan suddenly let go of his sword and used his free hand to punch the skeleton’s forehead.

The skeleton clearly didn’t expect Evan to drop his sword and was caught completely off guard.

It wasn’t able to react in time, and Evan’s fist struck directly against the crystal.

BANG!

The skeleton staggered backward, and the crimson flames in its eye sockets flickered violently, as if it had been dazed by the impact.

However, Evan wasn’t happy in the slightest because his punch hadn’t dealt any damage to the crystal.

It was simply too hard.

Evan even felt severe pain in his fist from the impact, almost as if he had punched a solid piece of steel.

Although his attack had failed, Evan didn’t waste any time thinking about it.

While the skeleton was still dazed from the impact, Evan quickly picked up the Black Star.

In the next instant, he appeared before the skeleton once again.

His eyes flashed with determination, and without hesitation, he used the Basic Sword Art move, Shockwave Severance, against its forehead.

"Shockwave Severance!"

BOOOOOOOM!

A powerful shockwave erupted from the Black Star.

Evan once again felt intense pain throughout his entire body from using the move without Mana.

However, he gritted his teeth and poured all of his remaining strength into the sword.

The shockwave and the sword struck the center of the crystal almost simultaneously.

BOOM!

The tremendous impact sent the skeleton crashing to the ground.

CRACK!

A cracking sound echoed throughout the hall and to Evan’s ears, it sounded like heavenly music.

Several small cracks had appeared across the surface of the crystal.

The instant those cracks appeared, the skeleton let out a strange scream from its mouth, as if it was experiencing tremendous pain because of the damage to its crystal.

But Evan wasn’t doing any better.

After fighting the skeleton for hours, he was already completely exhausted.

And now that he had used Shockwave Severance in his current condition, the pain caused by the backlash, combined with his exhaustion, was simply too much for him.

At this moment, he just wanted to collapse and take a long nap.

However, Evan bit his lips hard to keep himself from passing out at this crucial moment.

He looked at the skeleton, which was struggling to stand up.

For some reason, it seemed unable to properly control its bony body.

Panting heavily, Evan approached the skeleton with heavy steps and looked at the small cracks covering the crystal.

Seeing those cracks, Evan felt that he probably wouldn’t be able to completely break the crystal even if he used another Shockwave Severance.

Knowing that the skeleton wouldn’t remain dazed for long, Evan finally gritted his teeth and a ruthless glint flashed through his eyes.

Without thinking any further, he activated the Sky Fall skill he had learned earlier.

The moment Evan activated the skill, he felt the strength throughout his entire body surge toward his fist.

Even without using Mana, he suddenly felt as if he could crush anything with a single punch.

A white glow appeared around his fist, and he could feel tremendous power being condensed within it.

However, suddenly, the white glow began to fade.

At the same time, Evan started feeling a pain like never before.

It felt as if someone was repeatedly crushing his bones and muscles from the inside.

"Fu*k!" Evan almost dropped to the ground from the pain, barely managing to remain standing.

As he watched the white glow slowly disappear from around his right fist, he realized that the power of Sky Fall was about to fade away because of his weakened body and lack of Mana.

He gritted his teeth and ignored the unbearable pain.

Then, with all the strength he could muster, he quickly threw his fist toward the crystal on the skeleton’s forehead.

The skeleton wasn’t able to evade the attack because it was still in a dazed state.

Evan’s fist struck the crystal.

BOOOOOOOM!

CRACK!

A tremendous sound rang out from the impact, followed by the sound of bones breaking as the cracks on the crystal deepened.

The crystal was almost shattered.

The skeleton let out a loud, strange sound from its mouth when Evan’s Sky Fall-enhanced fist struck its crystal.

However, the moment his fist struck the crystal, all the bones in Evan’s fist also fractured.

Pain like never before surged throughout his entire body and he coughed out several mouthfuls of blood, collapsing onto the ground.

’Damn it... I should just die...’

Tears couldn’t help but fall from Evan’s eyes as the combined pain from Shockwave Severance and Sky Fall became simply too much for him to bear.

At this moment, he didn’t even have the strength to lift a finger.

He could only move his blurry eyes with difficulty as he looked toward the skeleton.

The skeleton was also lying on the ground.

However, Evan could see that the crystal was still not broken.

Countless cracks covered its surface, and it looked as though it would shatter from the slightest impact.

But alas, Evan didn’t even have enough strength to lift a finger, much less attack the crystal again.

Evan simply lay on the ground without moving, staring at the skeleton.

He was barely able to remain conscious after using Sky Fall with his already weakened body.

At the moment, every part of his body was aching.

The bones in his fist were completely fractured, while many other bones throughout his body were on the verge of breaking.

The dimly lit hall suddenly fell silent.

The only sound that could be heard was Evan’s weak breathing, which echoed through the enormous hall from time to time.

Rustle...

Around fifteen minutes later, a faint rustling sound echoed through the hall and the skeleton slowly began to move as it struggled to stand up on its shaky legs.

Because of the damage its crystal had received, the skeleton was having difficulty even controlling its body properly.

Nevertheless, it eventually managed to stand up.

Then, it slowly began moving toward Evan.

Evan, who was already on the verge of passing out, could only watch the approaching skeleton with hazy eyes.

He couldn’t even move his body.

Seeing the bony figure approaching him, Evan knew that if he didn’t do something, he would die at the hands of this skeleton.

’Do I really have to use Mana even after all of this?’

Evan thought with a reluctant expression as he really didn’t want to use Mana after coming this far.

He tried to think of anything that could help him, but he couldn’t think of anything.

Soon, the skeleton arrived beside him.

It no longer had its sword.

The skeleton looked down at Evan, who hadn’t moved since using Sky Fall.

Then, it slowly bent down and grabbed Evan by the neck.

Although it couldn’t control its body properly because of the damaged crystal, it was still strong enough to easily lift Evan from the ground.

The moment the skeleton’s fingers tightened around his neck, Evan, who was already on the verge of passing out, felt as if his entire world was slowly turning black.

The skeleton held him high in the air and began applying more pressure to its grip.

Evan’s breathing became increasingly difficult.

His vision blurred, and he could barely make out the skeleton standing before him.

Almost unconscious, Evan subconsciously thought about using his Mana.

But just as he was about to activate it, his hazy mind suddenly cleared slightly and his eyes snapped open.

"Like hell I’ll fail after coming this far..." Evan shouted in a voice filled with madness and mustering all of his remaining strength, he threw another punch toward the crystal.

BANG!

The punch wasn’t powerful. Yet, the skeleton still dropped Evan from its grip and took a step backward.

Evan fell onto his feet and immediately gasped for air.

He stared at the skeleton standing before him with bloodshot eyes and pulled his head back.

His arms and legs had already lost almost all of their strength so he simply decided to use the thing that he could still move.

Evan clenched his teeth and fiercely thrust his head forward.

BANG!

His forehead smashed directly against the crystal.

Because of the impact, Evan’s forehead split open, and blood immediately began flowing down his face, dying his vision red.

At the same time, Evan staggered backward and unable to hold himself up any longer, he finally fell to the ground.

His vision gradually darkened and everything began to fade before him.

But just before his consciousness was completely swallowed by darkness, a line of text appeared before his eyes.
