"What bruise-- oh, yes. How bad does it feel," she quickly asked, crouching down slightly to get a better look without touching it.
"Manageable," Jey said. "Was worse yesterday."
"He healed up pretty fast," Bambietta added, dropping her own bag beside his. "This morning he was already moving around like nothing happened. Even his neck’s fine."
Fenrisha raised an eyebrow at that, studying Jey for a moment longer than necessary.
"All credit to the lovely Bam," Jey bowed slightly.
Fenrisha straightened up, clapping her hands together once. "Alright. On the mat. Both of you. I’m free today, how about we catch up on lost time."
Jey lowered himself onto the mat, folding his legs into a simple stretch before lying down, feeling the pull along his side but nothing sharp enough to worry about. Bambietta sat beside him, mirroring the stretch out.
The mat of the gym floor was cool against Jey’s bare back. He lay flat, staring up at the steel beams of the high ceiling, listening to the soft breezy sound of the facility’s air conditioning.
The morning sunlight poured through the windows, casting long, sharp shadows across.
"Bring your right knee to your chest," Fenrisha instructed. She was standing over him, her hands resting on her hips. "Slowly. Let the hip open up on its own."
Jey complied, bending his leg and pulling his knee toward his torso. He waited for the familiar protest from his lower back to flare up, like whenever he tried the exercise. He braced himself mentally, nothing arrived.
His muscles stretched smoothly, yielding to the movement without resistance. He let out a measured exhale, genuinely amazed at the lack of stiffness.
Bambietta sat beside him, holding a perfect stretch. She leaned her torso forward, her back perfectly straight, pressing her elbows gently against her inner thighs. She watched Jey’s movements, still quietly searching for any sign that he was hiding discomfort. When he released his right leg and switched to the left without a single wince, her shoulders dropped an inch in relief.
"Hold that for thirty seconds," Fenrisha said, walking over to a nearby equipment rack. She grabbed a plush bean ball, carried it back, and sat down on it, crossing her arms over her chest. "The human body is highly resilient if you do not actively attempt to destroy it every week."
"I’ll keep that in mind the next time I’m facing a two-hundred-pound man," Jey replied dryly, keeping his knee pinned to his chest.
Bambietta straightened up, releasing her stretch and shaking out her legs. She grabbed her water bottle, unscrewed the cap, and took a long drink. She wiped her mouth with the back of her hand and shifted her attention to their host.
"So," Bambietta began, her tone casua. "Are you going to tell us where you’ve been hiding? You’ve been MIA for over a month. Usually, you at least text to complain about how you hate travelling."
Fenrisha let out a heavy, dramatic groan. She leaned back slightly, adjusting her balance. The billionaire gym owner aura slipped just a fraction, replaced by the exhaustion of dealing with family.
"France," Fenrisha said, as if the country itself were a curse word. "I was trapped there for the last five weeks. I had to deal with my sister."
"I thought you said you successfully avoided her like the plague," Jey said, switching his legs again and pushing himself up into a seated position. He reached forward, stretching his hands toward his toes.
"I did for a while," Fenrisha confirmed, brushing a loose strand of hair out of her eyes. "But my elder sister, Valérie, is not someone you can simply ignore. When she decides she requires your presence, she will do everything just to get you on a plane to her. She is highly manipulative."
Bambietta chuckled, resting her hands on her knees. "What did she want this time?"
Fenrisha sighed, shaking her head. "She got it into her head that she needed to diversify into sports. She basically forced me to invest in her football club."
Jey paused his stretch, looking up at her in mild surprise. "Huh?"
"Yep," Fenrisha said, rolling her eyes. "A first division club. I asked her why she didn’t simply buy a boutique or a hotel like a normal heiress. But no, Valérie has this massive, uncompromising vision for club management and youth development. She wants to build a dynasty... although I think the main reason was to annoy our father."
"Sounds like a lot of work," Bambietta noted.
"It was torture," Fenrisha complained, her French accent thickening slightly as she recalled the ordeal. "It was a endless, a suffocating string of requests. I sat in conference rooms for days. Valérie thrives in that kind of environment. I, on the other hand, felt like my brain was slowly turning to liquid."
Jey smiled softly, leaning back on his hands. "At least you have a sister that drags you around."
Fenrisha pointed a manicured finger at him. "Do not joke about that. Please."
Bambietta slowly turned her head, looking at Jey and reminiscing about a few years back. Jey met her gaze, a subtle smile touching the corners of his mouth.
Before the luxury apartments, the billionaire gym/hotel/spa franchises, and the sold-out arenas, there were just four of them. Jey, Bambietta, Fenrisha, and Sebastian. They had spent their early years sharing impossible dreams.
Fenrisha was the runaway rich girl, hiding from her family’s wealth in a tiny studio apartment, fiercely determined to build her own thing without Valérie’s money.
And Sebastian. Seb.
Seb was the chronically exhausted guy who carried a battered acoustic guitar everywhere he went. He used to sit in the corner of diners, scribbling lyrics on napkins, playing gigs at bars where the bartender was the only one listening.
They had been a perfectly chaotic, fiercely loyal foursome.
Now, Jey was a main-event calibre wrestler.
Bambietta, the loving and protective girlfriend.
Fenrisha owned the Lifestyle brand across two countries.
And Sebastian Montana had dropped his first name, picked up a platinum record, and became Kid Montana...one of the biggest charting artists on the globe.
But fame hadn’t severed their ties. But it had complicated them to an extent. Especially between the heiress and the musician.
