Chapter 458: Chapter 457: Zong Wuxiang’s Mind
As Qin Feng walked out of the Eighth Hall, several unfamiliar young men and women also emerged from the other dilapidated Side Halls.
Seeing Qin Feng emerge from the eighth side hall, the expressions of a few exceptionally powerful Inner Sect Disciples flickered with surprise.
They had tried to search the Eighth Hall as well, but every single one of them had been blocked by the residual Divine Thought at its entrance.
Just then, Ye Ding, Zong Wuxiang, and the others walked out of the Sixth Hall.
Apparently, the group had stopped fighting.
However, many of them were pale, looking as though they had suffered a great loss of Primordial Qi.
Xia You, Huo Lei, Mo Zixi, Yin Xue’er, and Yuan Chuxing had clearly gotten the worst of it. Huo Lei had even lost a hand, while Mo Zixi, Yin Xue’er, and Yuan Chuxing wore grim expressions.
Xia You was in slightly better condition, but her expression turned icy when her gaze fell on Zong Wuxiang.
On the other side, Ye Ding was calm and composed, while Dong Hao, Wei Huang, and Shi Qing looked gloomy.
Even with their combined strength, they had failed to overpower Ye Ding. He had seized the treasure, leaving them looking utterly dejected.
When he saw Qin Feng emerge from the Eighth Hall, Ye Ding’s eyes grew cold. He sized Qin Feng up, his peripheral vision sweeping over the Eighth Hall with a look of shock and suspicion.
Beside Ye Ding, Yu Fuchen was silent.
Ye Ding glanced at Yu Fuchen and sent a private message via voice transmission. "Junior Brother Yu, don’t worry about it. She was just a concubine. That Qin Feng won’t be arrogant for much longer. Once he’s dead, everything he owns will be ours for the taking!"
Yu Fuchen gritted his teeth and nodded to himself.
Zong Wuxiang walked over from Ye Ding’s side. Noticing Ye Ding’s wary expression, he smiled and walked up to Qin Feng.
"Ah, so you’re Qin Feng from Cyan Dragon Academy, a new Inner Sect Disciple. I never expected to run into you here, Junior Brother Qin!"
"And this Senior Brother is...?" Qin Feng asked, surprised by the youth in white with a remarkable presence.
He looked to be fifteen or sixteen, handsome and elegant like a refined young master. Although he was an Inner Sect Disciple of the Star Sect, he lacked their typical posturing. Instead, he possessed a unique and carefree grace.
"I am Zong Wuxiang, a disciple of Kangjin Peak. I saw you during the Snowfield Trial. Back then, none of us thought much of you; we were all focused on people like Xiao Yuchan, Liu Canyang, and Du Pingxia. We never imagined we’d overlook a hidden gem, letting Senior Brother Li of Niu Jinfeng get a steal!"
Zong Wuxiang’s eyes couldn’t hide his amazement.
Who could have imagined it? In just one short year, the young man who had been at the bottom of the ranks during the Snowfield Trial, a mere Martial Arts Fourth Layer cultivator, had now achieved a level of success on par with established Inner Sect Disciples like them.
Such a cultivation speed was simply shocking.
’Even those few peerless prodigies in the sect are probably only on this level!’
"So it’s Senior Brother Zong from Kangjin Peak. I’ve heard a great deal about you!" Qin Feng said, inwardly shocked.
’This Zong Wuxiang has a fearsome reputation within the Inner Sect. He’s known as Young Master Shuijing, and his power is among the top-tier of all Inner Sect disciples from the Twenty-eight Peaks.’
’These Inner Sect Disciples from the Twenty-eight Peaks were a cut above the likes of Xia You and Huo Lei, who were unaffiliated with any of the peaks.’
"You flatter me, Junior Brother Qin! I’ve heard that you’re a Fourth Grade Alchemist. It’s rare to reach the Fourth Grade at such a young age, even across all Seventy-two Sects. In the future, we may have need of your assistance, Junior Brother!"
Zong Wuxiang grinned, making no effort to hide his intention to form an alliance.
Nearby, the expressions of some Inner Sect Disciples shifted subtly. They were well aware of Zong Wuxiang’s status. The man usually had a grin on his face and acted flippant toward everyone, which made him seem very approachable, but he was, in fact, incredibly arrogant.
From the looks of it, Zong Wuxiang wasn’t just making a polite greeting; he genuinely wanted to win Qin Feng over.
"You’re too kind, you’re too kind!" Qin Feng said, cupping his fists.
"Senior Brother Zong, who is this young talent from our sect? Why don’t you introduce us?"
Just then, several other handsome young men and women walked over, sizing up Qin Feng with curiosity in their eyes.
Qin Feng’s gaze swept over them. These four young men and women had unique dispositions; a single glance told him they were no ordinary Inner Sect Disciples. The aura they radiated was far more powerful than that of a typical Sea of Reincarnation Realm expert.
Qin Feng’s gaze was sharp. He could see that a few of them had even reached the Perfection stage in six different Profound Mysteries and possessed a vast, powerful presence.
"Junior Brother Qin, let me make some introductions. These are also Inner Sect Disciples of our Star Sect. This is my junior brother from Kangjin Peak, Ren Xiaoyao!"
Qin Feng’s gaze followed Zong Wuxiang’s gesture, landing on a young man in linen clothes. He had messy black hair hanging loose and a longsword strapped to his back, giving him an easy-going air.
"Junior Brother Qin, I’ve heard much about you!"
Qin Feng nodded.
"This is Jiang Chao of Wall Water Peak!" a handsome young master in aqua-blue robes said with a light laugh, holding his sword.
As Qin Feng’s gaze swept over Jiang Chao, his expression flickered. He sensed a power from a familiar source emanating from him.
It was the power of the Water Profound Mysteries.
’A resonance of power!’
Jiang Chao also noticed this. ’It seems this Junior Brother Qin is quite accomplished in the Water Profound Mysteries. But I’d only ever heard his control over the Fire Element was sublime. I never heard anything about him comprehending the Water Profound Mysteries as well.’
"And these two are Cao Zhan and An Zaitian!"
Cao Zhan, An Zaitian... Qin Feng had heard these two names before.
These two were extremely famous. They were also once disciples of the All Stars Academy, one from the White Tiger Academy, and the other from the Xuanwu Academy.
Even now, in the Honor Hall behind the All Stars Academy, the records of their deeds from back then still remained.
These two were legendary figures of the All Stars Academy, pioneers that many geniuses looked up to as role models.
Cao Zhan and An Zaitian nodded slightly, looking somewhat cold and distant.
Zong Wuxiang watched this scene, his expression unchanging, but he thought to himself, ’I’ve heard these two, Cao Zhan and An Zaitian, have been getting close to Ye Ding lately. And Ye Ding works for *that one*. Among the Ten Great True Inheritor Disciples, *that one* is in a league of their own. The other Nine Great True Disciples are famous in their own right and have strong support for becoming the next Sect Leader, but they all pale in comparison!’
’Could it be that Cao Zhan and An Zaitian are planning to throw in their lot with *that one’s* faction?’ Zong Wuxiang’s expression didn’t change, but he was screaming internally. ’This is bad. Both of them have significant power backing them. If they join *that one’s* camp, Senior Brother Shi’s position will become even more precarious!’
Zong Wuxiang knew all too well how vicious the struggles between True Disciples could be. If one lost their standing, their fate could be worse than that of any Inner or Outer Sect Disciple.
’This Qin Feng is quite an asset, though. A Fourth Grade Alchemist before the age of fifteen... Give him some time, and he could definitely become an Alchemy Grandmaster. If Senior Brother Shi had an Alchemy Grandmaster on his side, the gap between him and *that one* could be closed in a short amount of time!’
’And the best part is, I hear he and Ye Ding are like fire and water!’
As these thoughts flashed through his mind, Zong Wuxiang’s demeanor grew even warmer.
From behind, Ye Ding watched the scene unfold. His gaze fell upon Zong Wuxiang and Qin Feng, who was chatting amiably with him. A vicious glint flashed in his eyes.
’Everyone knows Zong Wuxiang belongs to *that* True Disciple’s faction. And *that* person is a mortal enemy of the one backing me. Does Qin Feng getting close to him mean he’s already decided to side with them?’
The group quickly arrived before the doors of the final main hall.
A few familiar figures came into view, and Qin Feng’s expression grew solemn. They were four Inner Sect Disciples from Jiaomu Peak. All four were pale and leaning against a pillar, each appearing to have suffered significant injuries.
