Yandere Monster Evolution: My Blind Wife Will Become a Demonic Queen
Chapter 148: Ki... (3)The kiss was soft and completely unexpected.
My whole body froze in place. The warmth of Viora’s lips stayed against my right cheek for a second longer before she slowly let her heels drop back down to the floor.
Her hand was still resting lightly against the center of my chest, right over my hammering heartbeat.
I stared down at her, my breath catching in my throat. "V-Viora...?"
Viora didn’t pull away. She tilted her head up slightly, and her lips were parted just a tiny bit. The cool, calm aura she usually carried around like armor seemed to melt away entirely under the warm evening light.
"I do not want you to stand behind me," Viora said softly. Her voice trembled just a fraction, a rare crack in her usually emotionless tone. "And I do not want you to push yourself until you break. I just want... to be here with you."
My heart did a sudden, heavy flip in my chest.
Looking at her standing there—so close that I could smell the faint, clean scent of fresh rain that always followed her—I couldn’t hold back anymore. All the stress, the exhaustion from our fights, and the unspoken feelings I had carried through every dangerous gate suddenly felt so simple.
I reached up, my fingers gently brushing against her cool cheek, guiding her face up just a little more.
"Woo Jin..." she whispered.
I leaned down and pressed my lips directly against hers.
It wasn’t a rushed or heavy kiss. It was gentle, deep, and slow. Viora let out a soft, surprised breath against my mouth before her hand on my chest tightened, her fingers curling into the fabric of my shirt. She leaned into me, bringing her other hand up to rest against the side of my neck.
Her lips were unbelievably soft, warm, and sweet. The quiet hum of the afternoon wind outside faded into complete silence. For a long moment, the rest of the world completely disappeared. There were no gates, no dangerous monsters, no conflicts—just the two of us standing in front of the opened window.
I wrapped my arms tightly around her waist, pulling her closer into my chest. Viora tiptoed again, deepening the kiss, her breath catching as our lips moved together in a sweet, seamless rhythm.
Suddenly, from the top of the wooden staircase behind us, a door clicked open.
PAT-PAT-PAT.
The quiet sound of soft slippers stepped out onto the upper hallway.
"Woo Jin? Viora?" Carmilla’s gentle, tired voice called out from the second floor. "I forgot to ask where the extra blankets are kept for the—"
Carmilla stopped dead in her tracks right at the top of the stairs.
She looked down over the wooden railing, her bright red eyes widening into massive saucers. Her jaw dropped open slightly as her eyes locked onto the two of us pressed tightly against the bay window, completely locked in a deep lip-to-lip kiss.
"O-Oh!" Carmilla gasped, her pale face instantly turning bright, dark crimson. She slapped both of her hands over her eyes, turning her head away in absolute panic. "I-I am so sorry! I didn’t mean to—I wasn’t looking! I promise!"
The sudden sound of her voice hit us like a bolt of lightning.
"C-Carmilla?!" I gasped, breaking the kiss instantly.
In my sheer panic and shock, my heel caught on the edge of a loose floor mat. My balance completely shattered.
"Whoa—!"
I stumbled backward hard, my heavy back slamming straight into the wide window behind us.
"Woo Jin!" Viora cried out.
Before either of us could grab onto the wooden frame, gravity took over.
"AAAAAAAAHHH!"
We both tumbled backward right out of the opening, plunging six feet down into the garden below.
SPLAAASH!
A massive fountain of water exploded into the air as the two of us crashed straight into the stone pond.
Water splashed over the smooth gray pebbles, soaking the green water lilies and spraying high enough to wet the grass around the edge. The cool, freshwater flooded my clothes instantly, making my heavy denim jeans weigh a hundred pounds.
I surfaced first, coughing out a mouthful of pond water and shaking my wet hair out of my eyes.
"Pfft! Agh... cold! That is so cold!" I wheezed, wiping the water off my face while sitting knee-deep in the shallow pond.
Beside me, a splash of water broke as Viora sat up.
Her black cap was floating peacefully near a water lily. Her purple hair was completely drenched, sticking to her pale cheeks and shoulders like wet silk. Water dripped continuously from the tip of her nose.
She sat there in the middle of the pond, looking down at her soaked black clothes, looking completely stunned.
"Woo Jin..." Viora muttered, her voice dripping with wet shock. "We... fell."
"Yeah," I coughed out, trying and failing to hold back a desperate laugh. "We definitely fell."
Up on the second floor, Carmilla peeked out from behind her fingers. She practically sprinted down the wooden stairs, her slippers slapping against the steps in a panic.
She ran over to the open bay window, leaning out over the sill with her hands clutching her cheeks in utter horror.
"Woo Jin! Viora!" Carmilla yelled, her voice squeaking in absolute panic. "Are you alright?! I am so sorry! I didn’t mean to interrupt! I didn’t know you two were... were doing that!"
I looked up at Carmilla from the pond, my clothes dripping wet, and couldn’t help it anymore. A loud, booming laugh burst right out of my chest.
"We’re fine, Carmilla!" I laughed, rubbing the back of my neck. "It was my fault! I lost my footing!"
Viora looked at me, and slowly, a small, genuine smile broke across her wet lips. A tiny, soft chuckle escaped her throat—a sound so rare and beautiful that it made my heart skip another beat despite the freezing pond water.
"It seems..." Viora said quietly, her purple eyes sparkling with rare amusement, "...our quiet moment was cut short."
A few minutes later, we were back inside the warm house.
I had closed and locked the bay window tightly, mopping up the small puddle of water on the hardwood floor with a thick towel. Viora had gone to her room to change into dry clothes, while I threw on a simple grey sweatshirt and a pair of comfortable sweatpants.
Carmilla sat on the edge of the living room sofa, her knees pressed tightly together, looking like a guilty child who had just broken a valuable vase. Her face was still slightly pink as she held a warm mug of tea with both hands.
"I really am terribly sorry, Woo Jin," Carmilla murmured, looking down at her tea. "In my kingdom, disturbing a moment of affection between... bonded partners is considered a great offense."
I walked over, drying my damp hair with a small towel, and sat down on the armchair across from her.
"Carmilla, relax," I smiled warmly. "You didn’t do anything wrong. It was an accident. Besides, we’re the ones who didn’t lock the window properly."
Viora stepped back into the living room, wearing an oversized dark grey hoodie and soft sweatpants, her purple hair still slightly damp and resting over her shoulders.
She walked over and sat down right next to me on the wide armchair, her shoulder lightly pressing against mine. The subtle warmth of her body immediately made me feel relaxed.
"The children are still asleep?" Viora asked Carmilla, her tone cool and calm once again.
"Yes," Carmilla nodded, visibly relieved that Viora wasn’t angry. "They didn’t even wake up from the splash. They were completely exhausted."
"Good," I said, leaning back into the cushions. "They needed that sleep."
For a while, the three of us sat in the quiet living room, watching the last purple and dark blue shades of twilight fade into the night sky outside the glass. The peaceful atmosphere of the house returned, warm and comfortable.
Carmilla took a slow sip of her tea, setting the porcelain cup gently onto the saucer.
"Woo Jin," Viora called out softly.
"Yeah?" I asked, turning around.
Viora reached out, her cool fingers lightly touching the right cheek where she had kissed me earlier. A small, beautiful smile touched her lips.
"Don’t fall out of any more windows," she murmured playfully.
I let out a soft laugh, my heart warming up all over again. "I promise."
Carmilla lowered her teacup, her bright red eyes shifting back and forth between the two of us. The faint blush was still clinging to her cheeks, but a soft, knowing smile tugged at the corner of her lips.
"I suppose..." Carmilla began, her voice dropping into a quiet teasing tone, "...I should make a habit of knocking on the living room door before entering from now on."
"Carmilla," Viora said flatly, though she didn’t move an inch away from my shoulder.
"I am only stating the obvious," Carmilla chuckled softly, taking another small sip of her tea. "In the Vampire Realm, courtships are usually loud, dramatic, and filled with grand gestures. I did not expect human romance to involve tumbling into fish ponds."
"Hey, that wasn’t part of the plan," I laughed, shaking my head as I rested my arm along the back of the armchair. "That was entirely an improvised exit strategy."
