Yandere Stream

Chapter 58: The Other Stream

Kai didn’t move.

He couldn’t.

It wasn’t even fear at first. Fear would’ve meant his body still felt like his own. This was something worse—like his nervous system had stopped accepting commands from his brain.

The phone in his hand felt heavier every second he stared at it, as if the weight of the entire apartment was slowly transferring into his grip. His fingers tightened without permission, knuckles pale, tremors running through his hand in uneven pulses.

On the screen, the stream continued running.

An empty blue room.

A desk.

A monitor.

A chair that looked wrong in a way Kai couldn’t immediately explain.

And the man in the hoodie—

standing exactly where Kai should have been.

Smiling like he had been waiting for this moment longer than Kai could comprehend.

Kai’s throat tightened.

"That’s not my stream," he said.

His voice came out lower than intended.

Careful. Controlled. Like speaking too loudly might make the situation notice him more.

Luna didn’t respond immediately.

That silence mattered more than anything else.

Because Luna always responded.

Even when she didn’t understand something, she filled the space with analysis. Possibilities. Questions.

This time there was nothing.

Then finally—

"...I know," she said.

Quiet. Measured.

Kai’s eyes flicked toward his actual PC sitting on his desk.

Still there.

Still real.

Still off.

But his phone insisted otherwise.

Two realities layered on top of each other like they were arguing over which one was allowed to exist.

A stream running from somewhere it shouldn’t.

A version of his life he didn’t recognize.

And a man inside it who looked far too comfortable.

The man tilted his head slightly.

Not reacting to Kai directly.

But reacting to the conversation.

Like he could hear them through the screen.

Then he tapped the desk once.

A soft knock echoed through Kai’s apartment.

Kai froze.

Another tap.

Again.

The sound didn’t come from the phone speaker exactly—it came from everywhere at once, like the room itself had decided to participate.

Kai took a step back without realizing it.

His heel hit the edge of the coffee table.

The impact jolted him, grounding him just enough to breathe.

"What the hell..." he whispered.

He looked down.

The stream interface still showed chat.

But it wasn’t moving like before.

No spam.

No jokes.

No panic.

Just a single line in the corner:

Viewer count: 1

Still watching.

Still present.

The man in the hoodie smiled wider.

Then spoke.

"Hi, Kai."

Kai felt something sink in his stomach.

Because the voice wasn’t distorted.

It wasn’t filtered.

It wasn’t some glitchy imitation from earlier horrors.

It was clean.

Perfect.

Familiar in a way that made his skin tighten.

It sounded like him.

Not similar.

Not inspired.

Him.

Luna’s voice sharpened instantly.

"Don’t respond."

"I wasn’t going to—" Kai started.

But his mouth had already moved before he finished the sentence.

"Who are you?"

The man on the screen smiled like he expected that exact mistake.

"I think you already answered that," he said calmly.

The room in the video shifted slightly.

Not physically moving in space—but like the camera angle adjusted itself when Kai wasn’t looking directly at it.

The empty chair slowly rotated toward the desk.

Then stopped.

Waiting.

Kai’s breathing slowed.

Not because he was calming down.

Because his body was starting to disconnect from urgency, like it couldn’t decide what emergency protocol to run anymore.

Behind him, the apartment felt too still.

Even the rain outside sounded distant, like it belonged to another building entirely.

"Luna..." he said.

"I’m here," she answered immediately.

But something in her tone had changed.

Just slightly.

Less certainty.

More attention.

Like she was listening for something Kai couldn’t hear yet.

Kai swallowed.

"What is that?"

Silence.

Long enough that it became an answer of its own.

The man on the screen leaned forward again.

And for a single frame—

his face flickered.

Not into something else.

Not into a mask.

Into absence.

Like the idea of a face hadn’t fully loaded.

Kai stepped closer to the phone without meaning to.

Closer than he should’ve.

The instinct to understand was stronger than the instinct to run.

"Stop looking at it," Luna said quickly.

"I’m not—" Kai started.

But he was.

And she knew it.

"Kai."

Her voice tightened.

That snapped something in him.

He stopped moving.

Barely.

The room felt worse when he paused looking.

Like the act of observation itself was holding something in place.

Then the notification appeared.

NEW MESSAGE FROM STREAM

Kai stared at it.

His finger hovered.

"I didn’t open that," he said.

But the phone opened it anyway.

No input needed.

The message appeared in clean white text:

You always look when I speak.

Kai’s breath caught.

Another message followed immediately.

That’s why you’re perfect.

His grip tightened.

"What does that mean?" he whispered.

Luna spoke faster now.

"Turn it off. Now. The phone. Everything."

"I tried," Kai said.

"I know. Try again."

He pressed the power button.

Nothing.

Held it.

Still nothing.

The screen stayed bright.

The stream stayed alive.

The man in the hoodie tilted his head again, as if listening to Kai struggle.

Then smiled softly.

"Don’t break it," he said.

"You’ll miss the ending."

Kai froze.

"Ending?"

The man nodded once.

"You’ve been streaming for a long time, Kai."

"That’s not true."

"It is."

Too calm.

Too certain.

"Longer than you remember."

Kai’s hands started shaking again.

He looked at Luna’s call.

Still active.

Still green.

Still her.

"...Luna?" he asked.

"I’m here," she answered immediately.

But this time—

there was hesitation.

A fraction of delay that hadn’t been there before.

Kai noticed it.

Because he had been listening to her all night.

"What’s going on?" he asked.

A pause.

Then Luna said:

"I think... it found the stream that started before you."

Kai frowned.

"What does that mean?"

But Luna didn’t answer.

Because the stream on his phone suddenly changed.

The empty blue room disappeared.

Replaced by a different angle.

A different apartment.

Not his.

Not 7C.

Something older.

Half-painted walls.

Faded lighting.

Multiple monitors lined in a setup that looked less like a gaming station and more like a control room.

And sitting in the chair—

was Kai.

But not the Kai he knew.

Older.

Still.

Expression flat in a way that didn’t feel human so much as... exhausted past emotion.

He wasn’t streaming.

He was watching something off-screen.

Then he spoke.

Not to chat.

Not to camera.

But quietly.

Like responding to someone sitting beside him.

"She’s awake again."

The screen went black.

Luna went silent.

Kai stood frozen in the center of his apartment, phone shaking in his hand, feeling something settle into his chest that he couldn’t fully identify.

Not fear.

Not confusion.

Something heavier.

Recognition.

And from somewhere inside the apartment—

the bedroom wall knocked once.

Not loud.

Not urgent.

Just patient.

Like it agreed with what he had just seen.
