Your Spell Version is Too Low!
Chapter 378 - 346: In Heaven and on Earth, I Alone Am SupremeThe Golden Plaza before Little Leiyin Temple was enveloped in a nearly frozen atmosphere, a mixture of supreme majesty and profound silence.
Only the spot where the six figures stood seemed to have become the absolute core of this world. Even the magnificent radiance of Little Leiyin Temple itself seemed to be nothing more than a backdrop for them.
After a moment, among the six Bodhisattvas, the one with the most profound and heavy aura—as if he bore the weight of all creation—slowly spoke from his position atop a Dark Gold Lotus Platform.
His voice did not come from his mouth. Instead, it resounded directly in the depths of every Arhat’s Divine Soul, carrying an unquestionable Dao Rhyme:
"The World Honored One’s Zen Assembly begins now."
"During the assembly, you must maintain right mindfulness, your minds free from distractions.
Fighting is forbidden. Causing a disturbance is forbidden. Probing with the Divine Techniques of the Outer Dao is forbidden.
All actions must follow the guidance of the Dharma Seal. Do not overstep your bounds in the slightest."
"All who enter this place with a Dharma Seal will have the opportunity to hear the supreme, wondrous sound and comprehend the profound meaning in the World Honored One’s subtle words.
However, the depth of your affinity and the level of your comprehension depend on you alone. They cannot be forced."
"Should anyone violate the rules and disrupt the order of this Zen Assembly..."
The voice paused. An invisible pressure, so heavy it felt as if it could shatter one’s Divine Soul, swept across the plaza like the passing shadow of a primordial mountain.
All the Arhats felt their Purple Mansions tremble and their Dao Foundations shake.
"...your Dharma Seal will be erased, you will be expelled from Spirit Mountain, and you will be forbidden from ever re-entering the Buddha Country."
The words were brief, the laws absolute.
There were no wasted words—only the most fundamental rules and the most severe punishments.
Having delivered the instructions, the Bodhisattva fell silent once more. Only his Dark Gold Lotus Platform continued to rotate gently, exuding a faint, almost imperceptible aura of cyclical oblivion.
Next, a Bodhisattva whose form shifted and changed, manifesting entire heavens within it, stepped forward. He was shrouded in a flowing, seven-colored Buddha Light.
A golden lotus blossomed in the void beneath their feet.
At the center of the lotus, a ball of pure Buddha Light drifted. It was perfectly clear, as if it could reflect every Heart Thought and cleanse all worldly dust.
Within the Buddha Light, an ancient, worn scripture scroll slowly materialized.
The scripture was made of some ancient, dark-yellow material—neither silk nor cloth, neither gold nor jade—and its edges were slightly frayed.
It looked unremarkable, even somewhat tattered.
But the moment it appeared—
RUMBLE—!!!
The entire Golden Plaza before Little Leiyin Temple—no, the entirety of Spirit Mountain—trembled violently!
Infinite Light erupted from the scripture!
In an instant, it swallowed the figure of the Seven-Colored Bodhisattva, the Law Golden Lotus, and the entire area where the six Bodhisattvas stood. Then, like a supernova, it exploded outward, expanding rapidly across the Golden Plaza, toward Little Leiyin Temple, and up into the skies above Spirit Mountain!
Wherever the light passed!
Even the vast Dao Rhyme radiating from the six Bodhisattvas themselves faded into a faint backdrop against its sheer magnificence!
This was... the World Honored One’s Handwriting!
Imbued with the aura of a Supreme Being and possibly containing the mysteries of the realm Above the True Monarch—it was the manifestation of the original Heart Sutra!
The figure of the Seven-Colored Bodhisattva flickered in and out of view within the Infinite Light. Their hands were raised, as if presenting the most precious treasure in the cosmos.
A calm, distant chant echoed within the torrent of light, clearly imprinting itself upon the Heart and Spirit of every Arhat who could still maintain a sliver of clarity:
"The Gate of All Wonders is within this scripture."
"All you faithful... gaze upon it with your hearts..."
The moment the Bodhisattva’s voice rang out!
"Don’t look!"
A hurried, grave telepathic message, like a cold steel needle, stabbed into Qi Yun’s ears!
It was the Crown Prince of Nanyin—Zhao Yin!
"Focus your entire Heart and Spirit! Seal your six senses!"
"Do not let even a sliver of that scripture’s golden light enter your eyes or imprint upon your Heart and Spirit!"
The Crown Prince of Nanyin’s voice was more serious than ever before.
Hearing this, Qi Yun immediately lowered his gaze!
He retracted the Buddha Light around him completely. The powers of his Great Brightness Shizhi Dharma Body and his newborn Primordial Spirit activated in unison, constructing layer upon layer of solid Heart Thought barriers within his Ancestral Acupoint and the depths of his Purple Mansion to block all external information.
However, it seemed the influence of the scripture’s light and Dao Rhyme did not rely on sight alone!
The moment Qi Yun lowered his eyes and sealed his sense of sight...
...a voice suddenly whispered in his ear.
The voice was sometimes near, sometimes far; sometimes male, sometimes female. At times it was filled with endless temptation; at others, it was benevolently persuasive:
"Look... why not look?"
"This is the authentic work of the World Honored One. It contains the supreme Buddhist Skill, and perhaps even the secrets of the realm Above the True Monarch... Just one glance might allow you to perceive the true face of the Great Dao, saving you ten thousand years of arduous cultivation..."
"What are you afraid of? Opportunity is right before you, within your grasp..."
"And who is that man beside you? A Nanyin remnant, a homeless cur who holds a grudge against you... He’s stopping you because he has ulterior motives. He doesn’t want you to seize this opportunity and surpass him!"
"Don’t trust him! He’s obstructing your path! Ruining your future!"
"Open your eyes... just one look... one look is all it takes..."
These voices weren’t being forced upon him; they were sprouting from the depths of his own heart.
They aligned perfectly with his own desire for the Great Dao, his pursuit of power, and his curiosity about the secrets of the realm Above the True Monarch, making them irresistibly tempting and persuasive.
The power originating from the Heart Sutra was penetrating his sealed six senses and Heart Thought barriers.
It was using his own desires and obsessions as a bridge to silently infiltrate and tempt him!
Qi Yun’s brow furrowed, his expression turning solemn.
He guarded his Heart and Spirit fiercely, silently reciting the Heart-Suppressing Spell from the Great Brightness Glazed Treasure Scripture to resist the insidious, tempting whispers.
’I can’t look!’
’I absolutely cannot look!’
’That scripture... it’s incredibly strange! And incredibly dangerous!’
On the Golden Plaza, the Infinite Light continued to erupt and surge.
The visions at the scripture’s core continued to evolve with frantic intensity.
The six Bodhisattvas stood silently within the light.
Among the Arhats, some had squeezed their eyes shut in pain. Others struggled to endure within the light, their expressions fraught with conflict. A rare few, unable to resist the temptation or perhaps overconfident in their cultivation, were slowly, arduously... trying to lift their eyelids and gaze into the heart of the light...
"This scripture... what in the world is it?!"
Sensing the immense power emanating from the Heart Sutra, Qi Yun’s expression grew grim. He sent a direct telepathic message to the Crown Prince of Nanyin:
"If you keep being evasive and cryptic and refuse to give me a straight answer..."
He paused, his tone as cold as quenched steel:
"Our cooperation is over, effective immediately!"
"I’d rather crush my Dharma Seal right now and draw the attention of the Bodhisattvas than play another one of your guessing games!"
This was a matter of life and death; there was no room for hesitation or probing.
He needed information. He needed to know what he was facing—right now.
Besides, his true body wasn’t even here; this was just a Dharma Body.
’If things really go south, we’ll see who has more to lose!’
Sensing the absolute resolve in Qi Yun’s tone, the Crown Prince of Nanyin quickly replied:
"This Heart Sutra... it is authentic! Penned by the World Honored One’s own hand. The profound mysteries of the Dao for the realm Above the True Monarch that it contains are also completely real! It’s no illusion!"
He spoke quickly, clearly also struggling to resist the immense power of the World Honored One’s Handwriting:
"But the problem is... the Dao that the World Honored One cultivates... it is extremely despotic!"
"It is known as—’In all of Heaven and Earth, I alone am supreme!’"
The Crown Prince of Nanyin practically spat the words out through gritted teeth, enunciating each one with force.
Every word seemed to carry immense weight, imbued with an absolute, exclusionary authority that made one’s very Divine Soul tremble.
"Therefore, any living being who hears his Dao and understands its meaning will involuntarily be attracted, assimilated, and overwritten by its Dao Rhyme!"
"It is like a drop of water returning to the ocean, or a spark merging with the sun!"
"What you think becomes what the World Honored One thinks; what you desire becomes what the World Honored One desires!"
"This is what is known as—’One Heart Under Heaven!’"
’One Heart Under Heaven?!’
The four words struck Qi Yun’s Heart and Spirit like four bolts of lightning!
’The Dao of the World Honored One... was so utterly despotic!’
To hear it is to be transformed; to see it is to be assimilated!
After the initial wave of shock receded, Qi Yun forced his nearly frozen mind to start working again:
"A secret like this touches upon the deepest taboos of the Buddhist Cultivators!"
"You’re just the crown prince of a fallen dynasty, hiding here. How could you possibly learn a top secret that even an ordinary Arhat serving a Bodhisattva might not know?!"
The Crown Prince of Nanyin’s reply came quickly, his tone just as detached as ever:
"Have you forgotten, fellow Daoist... my royal father is also a Buddhist Cultivator now. He holds the rank of Bodhisattva."
"The truth of ’One Heart Under Heaven’ was his final warning to me, sent at great personal cost before his spiritual nature was completely assimilated."
’His spiritual nature hadn’t been completely extinguished!’
Qi Yun’s pupils contracted sharply!
"Does that mean... not even a True Monarch is exempt from the World Honored One’s Dao?!"
’No, that’s not right!’
’If even Bodhisattvas, who are True Monarchs, can be ensnared by the Heart Sutra, then wouldn’t the World Honored One’s Dao be a potent poison to all other True Monarchs?’
’Why would they tacitly approve of the Buddhist Cultivators’ eastern expansion, allowing them to vie for a "vicious weapon" that could make them lose their very selves upon obtaining it?’
’It doesn’t make sense!’
Qi Yun’s mind raced, rapidly running through the implications:
The Heart Sutra contained the mysteries of the realm Above the True Monarch, making it infinitely alluring.
But the World Honored One’s Dao was one of "I alone am supreme"—to learn it was to lose oneself. This was anathema to any Cultivator who sought independent transcendence.
This was especially true for True Monarchs, who already stood at the pinnacle, their Dao Hearts as firm as stone, each with their own established path.
They might crave a higher Realm, but they would never be willing to pay for it with their sense of self!
To a True Monarch, a Heart Sutra like this was a complete hot potato.
And yet, the True Monarchs of the heavens had maintained a strange silence on the matter, allowing this World Honored One’s Zen Assembly to take place.
This in itself was a massive contradiction!
Furthermore, if even the Crown Prince of Nanyin could learn the terrifying truth of the World Honored One’s Dao through his father’s lingering spiritual nature...
...could those ancient, calculating True Monarchs, each a master of their own domain, truly be in the dark?
Did they have no intelligence channels of their own?
Had they not conducted in-depth research into the World Honored One’s Dao?
Had they not foreseen the terrifying consequences of coming into contact with this Heart Sutra?
’Impossible!’
’Absolutely impossible!’
’Something is wrong...’
Within Daluo Heaven, Primordial Immortal Light flashed and intertwined in the depths of Qi Yun’s true body’s eyes. The light of his deductions shone so brightly it threatened to burst from their sockets.
’Something is very, very wrong!’
