Chapter 424 - 381: A Venerable Hidden in the Blood Sea

Wuji Holy Sect, Star-picking Peak.

This place was perched high above a sea of clouds, where astral winds cut like knives, making it impossible for ordinary disciples to set foot.

The summit had been sliced completely flat, paved with a platform forged from molten Ten Thousand Years Star Iron.

No palaces or halls were built upon it, only a few simple meditation mats and a single cyan jade chessboard.

Qi Yun’s true self sat cross-legged on the northernmost meditation mat, his deep blue Daoist robe perfectly still amidst the biting astral winds.

He was not stargazing, nor was he playing chess.

He was merely gazing quietly at a scene manifesting in the air before him—the confrontation between Nether Spring and the Dragon Monarch within the North Sea Dragon Palace’s Dao Realm.

When he heard Nether Spring utter the three words "Help me ascend," and then saw him mention the Celestial Demon Well, Qi Yun’s true self’s brow twitched almost imperceptibly.

In the scene, the phantom of the Dragon Monarch’s true body manifested, shaking the Dao Realm with an abyssal pressure.

But Qi Yun just flicked his sleeve, and the scene before him dissipated like ripples on water.

He tilted his head slightly, looking to his side at an avatar of Nether Spring that had silently appeared at some unknown point, coalesced from a viscous, bloody light.

This avatar was more solid than the one in the North Sea. It was formed from a Blood God Child that Nether Spring had left in the sect, specifically for communicating with his true self.

"You want to enter the Celestial Demon Well?"

Qi Yun spoke, his voice calm, betraying no emotion.

Nether Spring’s avatar grinned, his blood-red pupils flashing with the same frenzied light as the one in the North Sea.

"That’s right. For the Blood Sea to form a Dao Fruit, it must absorb the ultimate expression of Supreme Yin and filth.

The essence blood of ordinary living beings, even the very source of Foundation Establishment Cultivators, is but a drop in the bucket to me now.

The Celestial Demon suppressed in that Celestial Demon Well evolved from the origin of the primeval Celestial Demon Ancient Mine. It was born from the Supreme Yang evil of Heaven and Earth. Its flesh, blood, and soul are all the finest Resources!"

Qi Yun shook his head slightly.

"There’s no need to be so radical.

If you intend to strengthen the Blood Sea through slaughter and sacrifice, I can easily send you on a trip to the Outer Realm.

In the depths of the savage wilds, uncultured Alien Race tribes are as numerous as the stars. Many among them bear the bloodlines of Ancient Fierce Beasts. Though their essence blood isn’t as pure as a Celestial Demon’s, they make up for it in sheer volume, and they don’t come with the heaven-defying karma of the Dragon Race."

His tone was casual, as if he were discussing which farmer’s market had better deals.

"The savage wilds of the Outer Realm?"

Nether Spring sneered, his smile filled with undisguised contempt.

"How can those barbarians who eat raw flesh and drink blood, who haven’t even sorted out their own bloodlines, possibly compare to a Celestial Demon?"

He took a step forward, his blood-red robe whipping in the astral wind, the bloody light in his eyes flaring brightly.

"A Celestial Demon is born of the Supreme Yang evil between Heaven and Earth. Its evil is not an Acquired taint, but its Innate origin!

If I can refine enough Celestial Demons into the Blood Sea and use their Supreme Yang evil as a catalyst, I can use it as fuel to reversely trigger and draw out that which has sunk to the deepest depths of the Blood Sea, that which originates from the very beginning of Heaven and Earth’s creation—"

He paused, then enunciated each word, his voice laced with a savage quality.

"The Supreme Yin evil!"

"When the twin evils of Yin and Yang converge, they will create Chaos within the Blood Sea and reenact the separation of purity and turbidity.

This is one of the Supreme Dharma Gates for ’attaining the Dao through the Blood Sea’ mentioned in the ancient scrolls of the Blood Spirit Scripture!

Once I succeed, the Blood Sea Dao Fruit will no longer be in its nascent form."

"Besides... I’ve recently been focusing my mind, sensing the origin of the Blood Sea. In the deepest part, where endless filth and resentment have settled, I’ve faintly detected a... peculiar fluctuation."

Qi Yun’s gaze sharpened. "Oh?"

Nether Spring licked his lips, his eyes glinting.

"The fluctuation is extremely faint, hidden deep within the Blood Sea. If not for my recent advancement in Cultivation, which has made my connection to the Blood Sea increasingly clear, I would have barely been able to notice it."

"Its aura... is utterly refined and pure, Supreme and transcendent. It’s completely at odds with the Blood Sea’s own filthy, sinister nature, yet it has somehow managed to preserve a sliver of an unquenchable ’pure’ essence amidst the eons of filth.

If I’m not mistaken... hidden within the Blood Sea, there might be a Venerable Dao Foundation!"

He looked at Qi Yun and said, word by word,

"I suspect... it’s possible that a Cultivator who possessed a Venerable Dao Foundation failed to withstand the backlash after cultivating the Blood Spirit Scripture and ultimately perished, their Dao dispersed.

Their Venerable Dao Foundation fell into the deepest part of the Blood Sea’s origin.

If I can achieve the Refinement of the Celestial Demon and trigger the convergence of Yin and Yang, I’m somewhat confident I can fish that Venerable Dao Foundation back out."

A clear ripple finally passed through Qi Yun’s eyes.

A Venerable Dao Foundation!

The astral winds howled, sweeping across the platform and causing the unplaced pieces on the cyan jade chessboard to hum softly.

After listening quietly, Qi Yun showed little surprise on his face. Instead, a very faint smile slowly appeared.

"So that’s how it is."

He tapped his fingertips gently on his knee, his gaze falling on Nether Spring’s face, which was slightly contorted with excitement.

"Since you already have a plan, why bother putting on a show and coming to discuss it with me?"

The question was direct and hit the nail on the head.

The fervor on Nether Spring’s face subsided slightly, replaced by a strange smile that was a mixture of cunning and intimacy.

He rubbed his hands together, bloody light flowing between his fingers.

"Heh heh..."

He chuckled drily.

"It’s just that... there’s a small matter where I need my true self to lend me a hand."

Qi Yun raised his eyes. "What is it?"

Nether Spring’s smile vanished, and a rare seriousness appeared in his blood-red eyes.

He raised his hand, palm up, and slowly closed his fingers into a fist.

As he made this gesture, countless, densely packed, dark-red points of light suddenly materialized in the air around him!

Each point of light was the phantom of a Blood God Child, miniaturized to the extreme!

At first, the points of light were scattered, but they soon began to move, arrange, and combine with incredible speed along some profound trajectory, sketching the prototype of a vast and complex three-dimensional Array Map in the air.

Within the Array Map, bloody light flowed, and strange Daoist tones could be faintly heard—the wails of countless beings, the surging of essence blood, and the seething of malevolent resentment.

"I have nurtured my Blood God Children in the Blood Sea, and now I have reached 9,999 of them, each possessing the pure power of the Foundation Establishment Early Stage."

Nether Spring’s voice was low, filled with the focus and pride of a master craftsman examining his finest work.

"I intend to use these 9,999 Blood God Children as a foundation to refine a Grand Array.

"Relying on this array, once I enter the Celestial Demon Well, I can become the Array Hub, spreading the 9,999 array apertures throughout the Blood Sea to form my own Blood Refining Domain.

No matter how ferocious the Celestial Demon is, once it falls into this array, it will be like being trapped in a boundless Blood Prison. Its Supreme Yang evil will be stripped away, transformed, and refined by the Grand Array layer by layer, becoming Resources for the Blood Sea’s advancement, while it will be unable to harm my core."

He spoke faster and faster, the light in his blood-red eyes practically beginning to burn.

"When the time is right, I can use this array to reverse-corrode and devour the Celestial Demon Well, temporarily turning that Celestial Demon Extinction Prison into my ’Blood Refining Dao Field’!"

"Using the most evil and wicked place in Heaven and Earth to refine my Dao of Supreme Yin and filth..."

A low, delighted, rasping laugh rumbled in his throat.

"Heh heh heh... Just thinking about it is unbearably exciting."

Qi Yun listened quietly, his gaze falling upon the prototype Array Map sketched out by Nether Spring’s Blood God Child phantoms. It was still crude, yet it already emanated a world-shaking Fierce Evil Qi.

He didn’t immediately comment on the array’s feasibility, nor did he question whether Nether Spring was being too reckless.

After a moment of contemplation, he simply gave a slow nod.

"Very well."

His voice was calm, yet it was final.

"The Celestial Demon Well is treacherous and unpredictable. Although the Celestial Demon suppressed within has been weakened by the Seal for eons, its residual power is still not something an ordinary Foundation Establishment cultivator can hope to match.

Furthermore, the Dragon Race’s Seal is tied to the karma of the Four Seas. The slightest mistake could lead to eternal damnation."

He looked up at Nether Spring.

"Having this array for protection will indeed give you more room to maneuver."

With that said, Qi Yun spoke no more.

He rose slowly from the meditation mat. His deep blue Daoist robe hung down, and the aura around him suddenly became incredibly restrained and profound.

Between his brows, at his Ancestral Acupoint, a point of chaos-colored immortal light quietly lit up. It was the size of a grain of rice at first, but it immediately expanded into a hazy, clear radiance that enveloped Qi Yun’s entire figure.

Qi Yun raised a hand and made a guiding gesture in the air toward Nether Spring’s avatar.

"Come."

As the single word fell, the clear radiance surged.

Nether Spring’s avatar offered no resistance. Instead, it actively dispersed its form, turning back into a viscous, pure, bloody stream of origin light. It plunged into the chaos-colored radiance, entered Qi Yun’s Ancestral Acupoint, and returned to the dominion of the Primordial True Body.

In the next instant, Qi Yun’s eyes closed slightly, and his entire consciousness sank into the deepest part of his Purple Mansion.

Within the Purple Mansion, the Daluo Heaven hung high.

In the central region, the vast, boundless phantom of a Blood Sea was slowly rotating and descending.

This was the origin of the Blood Sea Dao that Nether Spring had cultivated his entire life, now Guided and contained here by the supreme might of the Primordial True Body.

’The framework is viable, but it’s too crude. It has the form, but not the spirit.’

Scanning the Array Map conceived by Nether Spring, Qi Yun shook his head slightly. To a grandmaster of the Array Dao like him, an Array Map of this level was practically no different from a stick-figure drawing.

With a flicker of his Heart Thought, the various Daoist Intents contained within the Daluo Heaven began to roar.

Like a hundred rivers returning to the sea, they converged upon the phantom of the Blood Sea.

The first to integrate was the essence of the Holy Sect’s secret transmission, the Nine Nether Soul-devouring Array—its terrifying efficiency in devouring and converting Divine Souls and Spiritual Mechanisms;

Next were parts of the construction philosophy from the Mandala Embryo Barrier, insights gained on Spirit Mountain—its stability and self-contained nature, built of nested layers that formed a world of their own;

Then came the path of Refinement from the Great Sun Glazed Purifying Fire, comprehended by the Great Sun Purple Extreme True Monarch, concerning the "calcination, purification, and reforging with Ultimate Yang Fire"—though its attribute was the opposite, the essence of its "Refinement" could still be used as a reference;

And even more, Qi Yun’s own deep understanding of the Heaven and Earth Laws, Yin Yang Balance, and the Rising and Falling of Pure and Muddy, comprehended from his study of the Profound Yellow Venerable Dao Foundation...

A sea of knowledge on Arrays and Dao Insights, under the supreme dominion of the Daluo Heaven, was stripped of its dross to retain the essence, its external attribute conflicts removed. Then, it began a process of precise integration, reorganization, and sublimation with the origin of the Blood Sea and the 9,999 Blood God Child imprints.

This was an extremely complex and mentally taxing deduction process.

Time has no meaning in the Purple Mansion, only the eternal flow of the light of Dao consciousness.

Gradually, the originally crude prototype of the Array Map began to undergo an earth-shattering transformation.

The position of the Array Hub was set in the deepest part of the Blood Sea.

Once the Grand Array was unfurled, Nether Spring would be the array, and the array would be Nether Spring.

Man and array as one, a domain born of itself.

An unknown amount of time passed.

Within the Purple Mansion, the light of Dao consciousness slowly receded.

The Array Map floating above the Blood Sea had finally taken its complete form.

Its entire body was a dark red, almost black, color. Its structure was so complex and precise as to be dizzying, yet it possessed a strange, natural beauty.

The Array Map rotated slowly. With each turn, it stirred the tides of the Blood Sea, and the 9,999 Blood God Child imprints flickered between light and dark in unison, as if they were breathing in resonance.

An indescribable and terrifying Dao Rhyme—one of vicious evil, of devouring, of the Refinement of all things—began to emanate from the Array Map.

Although it was just a phantom born of deduction, it was already causing the Purple Mansion space, a realm Qi Yun ruled, to tremble slightly.

Qi Yun slowly opened his eyes.

The chaotic clear radiance between his brows receded. He was still standing on Star-picking Peak, the astral winds still biting.

Only now, there was a hint of imperceptible fatigue in his eyes, but also a sliver of the clear, bright light that comes after deducing the Great Dao.

He raised his hand and tapped a finger lightly in the air.

A speck of dark-red Dao Rhyme Spiritual Light, containing the complete deductive results for the "Lifebound Blood Refining Array," flew from his fingertip. It vanished into the void, following the profound connection to Nether Spring’s true body, and crossed an endless distance toward the North Sea—

racing away.
