Chapter 110: Chapter 110: You’re Lying on My Hair
Skeptical, Silas went to look it up. When she saw the name that came up, she cried out in surprise.
"I-Ian Sterling?!"
The assistant sighed in relief and said resignedly, "Yes, Miss Silas. That’s who it is..."
Silas responded, still dazed, and asked blankly, "Why?"
"Because Miss Mia Rhodes offended our future lady boss."
Online users noticed Silas hadn’t fought back and were about to log off when they saw her latest post.
[Oh, please. Your idea of "treating the crew to afternoon tea" is buying a single six-inch cake for dozens of people to share. Don’t forget the time you took off. You were so late the director was about to explode. He only held his tongue to save you some face. Everyone was waiting for you under the blazing sun. Have you no shame? As for that recording of you complaining about how bad the coffee was? As it happens, I have it.]
The internet immediately exploded. Mia Rhodes’s studio issued a statement and a legal threat, assuming it would intimidate Silas. To their surprise, a prominent lawyer from Quartos popped up in the comments on the studio’s post, announcing that he would be representing Silas and accepting their legal challenge.
Lynn Winslow finished scrolling through the posts, tossed her phone aside, and hugged Kiki, nuzzling her face into its fur.
"Mia Rhodes will be asking the Powell family to step in and shut this down any minute now."
Ian Sterling grunted an affirmation and picked up his phone to text Ethan Powell.
"Stay out of it."
Ethan Powell understood but still asked, "Isn’t that your lawyer? Why are you getting involved?"
Ian Sterling glanced down at Lynn Winslow, who was watching TV, and replied, "Couldn’t stand it."
Ethan Powell: "..." He got the picture.
Somehow, Mia Rhodes found out that Ian Sterling was behind this and called him. Ian glanced at the incoming call, declined it, and immediately blocked her number.
Mia Rhodes had no choice but to call Lynn Winslow instead. Eager for the drama, Lynn answered the call.
Sure enough, Mia Rhodes demanded furiously, "Did you put Ian up to this? We have no history, no grudge. Why would he get involved?!"
Kiki was curled up on Lynn’s lap. She toyed with Ian Sterling’s fingers with one hand and chuckled. "What makes you so sure I put him up to it? Maybe he just can’t stand you because your usual behavior is so repulsive."
"You! I’m telling you, Lynn Winslow, your mother stole my mother’s fiancé. You’re a bitch, just like her."
Lynn wasn’t fazed by her seething rage. She giggled and replied, "Is your mother as shameless as you are? My parents fell in love on their own. Your mother tried to seduce my father and failed, so she turned around and claimed my mom stole her fiancé? You’ve got skin as thick as a fortress wall. I should tell my chef to start sharpening her knives on your face. Besides being thick, it’s probably as rough as sandpaper anyway."
"..." Furious, Mia Rhodes hung up.
Lynn was laughing gleefully, but Ian Sterling’s expression had darkened the moment he heard Mia’s words.
Lynn tilted her head to look at him. Seeing his expression, she sat up, cupped his face in her hands, and squished his cheeks together. Amused, she said, "It was just a childish squabble. Why are you so mad? I’m not even angry."
Ian Sterling’s lips were pressed into a thin line. He didn’t speak, his eyes still filled with a dark fury.
Lynn smiled. "Don’t worry. Her words are completely powerless against me."
Ian Sterling kissed the corner of her lips and took a deep breath, finally letting some of the anger in his heart subside.
It was still early. Lynn looked at Kiki, who was sleeping soundly, and a wave of drowsiness washed over her. She shook Ian Sterling’s arm and yawned, "Let’s take a nap. I’m so tired."
Ian Sterling gently lifted Kiki from her arms, then scooped her up and carried her upstairs to bed.
They had already exhausted themselves the night before, so Ian Sterling was relatively well-behaved. He insisted on resting his hand on her, though. Lynn didn’t push it away, simply tucking her hair back before drifting off to sleep.
The two of them slept until dusk. Since they hadn’t closed the curtains, the room was now completely dark.
Just as Lynn started to roll over, a sharp pain on her scalp made her realize her hair was trapped firmly beneath Ian Sterling. She let out a hiss of pain and complained, "Ian Sterling, you’re on my hair!"
Ian Sterling, still half-asleep, didn’t quite process her words. He just reached out, pulled her closer, and nuzzled against her.
Lynn said, exasperated, "Ian Sterling! Are you trying to pull all my hair out and make me go bald?"
"Hmm?" Ian Sterling’s eyes finally opened, still groggy. He heard Lynn say through gritted teeth, "Get up. You’re on my hair."
That finally registered. He quickly sat up and gathered her hair, apologizing, "Sorry, I didn’t realize."
Lynn hmphed, rubbing her scalp as she got up to go wash her face.
Ian Sterling sat on the bed, ran a hand through his hair, and sighed. He got up, followed her into the bathroom, and hugged her from behind, whining playfully, "Don’t be mad at me."
"I’m not mad," Lynn mumbled around her toothbrush. "Am I that petty? Getting angry over something so small."
"..." Ian Sterling didn’t answer, but he thought, ’If you’re not petty, I don’t know who is.’
But he knew that even if she wasn’t mad before, saying that out loud would definitely make her mad.
Ian Sterling let her go and stood beside her to brush his teeth and wash his face. He then insisted that she wipe the water from his face for him.
Lynn obliged, wiping his face dry. Afterward, she even applied some men’s skincare products for him.
"Let’s go to the mall later and get some things I need," Lynn said, straightening the hair on his forehead. "We can also get you some more skincare products. The stuff you use is too basic. It would be a waste not to take proper care of a face like yours."
Ian Sterling basically had no opinions or ideas of his own when he was with Lynn. Whatever she said, went.
The weather had cooled down by then, so Lynn was willing to go out. After dinner, the two of them went to the mall to browse.
Lynn asked, "Have we ever actually gone shopping together before?"
Ian Sterling thought back and realized it was true. Before, they were always too busy being lovey-dovey. Their clothes and daily necessities were handled by the butler, so they rarely had a chance to go shopping. Being together in a bustling mall now had a certain charm to it.
Lynn shopped in the front while Ian followed behind, paying for everything and acting as her personal bag carrier.
To their great surprise, they turned around and ran right into Jasper Jennings and Mrs. Jennings.
"Finn, who’s this?" Mrs. Jennings asked, curiously sizing up Lynn. "I heard from your mother... is this your girlfriend?"
Ian Sterling hummed in confirmation, for once not wearing his usual expression that suggested the world owed him a great debt. "Auntie, this is my girlfriend, Lynn Winslow," he introduced.
"Lynn, this is Jasper Jennings’s mother. She’s my mom’s best friend, so you can just call her Auntie, too."
Lynn smiled warmly and said, "It’s nice to meet you, Auntie."
Mrs. Jennings was also a sucker for a pretty face, which was why she was so fond of Ian Sterling. Upon seeing Lynn, she instantly took a great liking to her as well.
Jasper Jennings, however, just looked at Ian Sterling with a teasing smirk.
