Chapter 12: Chapter 12: The Two-Faced Scum Girl
"I’m fine." Ian Sterling coughed a few more times, threw his cigarette on the ground, and stamped it out. Butler Yates, standing not far away, sighed. In the end, he decided not to tell Nina Norton about this.
It’s always easier to see things from the outside.
Lynn Winslow had no idea that after she left, Esther Abbott had mentioned her to someone else.
She had just gotten back into her car after dinner when she received a call from her grandfather in Morelia.
Mr. Winslow was typically a stern and serious man, but with his only, precious granddaughter, he was more like a kindly old man.
"Sweetheart, are you doing well in Veridia? Are you happy?" Mr. Winslow asked warmly.
"I am, and I’m very happy," Lynn Winslow replied playfully. "Grandpa, don’t worry about me. How are you? Is Joel taking good care of you?"
"Joel is taking very good care of me. Grandpa is doing great, don’t you worry," Mr. Winslow said, laughing heartily. He shot a look at Joel Winslow beside him, and Joel leaned in with a smile. "Sis, don’t worry, Grandpa’s doing great."
"That’s good. Joel, remember to watch Grandpa’s diet."
Mr. Winslow’s last check-up had shown high blood sugar. Before coming to Veridia, Lynn Winslow had instructed everyone in the Winslow family to manage Mr. Winslow’s meals, but she was still worried.
"Got it, Sis." Joel Winslow looked at Mr. Winslow teasingly.
Mr. Winslow glared at him. Just as he was about to say a few more words to Lynn Winslow, she cut in, "Grandpa, something’s come up. Let’s talk next time."
With that, Lynn Winslow hung up. Master Winslow stared at his phone, then looked up in disbelief at Joel Winslow, who was trying to stifle his laughter. "Did your sister just hang up on me?"
"Uh-huh, she did." Joel Winslow pressed his lips together, struggling not to laugh out loud.
"How could she hang up on me? What could possibly be more important than a call from her grandfather!"
"Maybe, possibly, perhaps she has something important she can’t tell you about?"
"That’s still no reason to hang up on me!" Mr. Winslow huffed and shouted to someone in the distance, "Butler Hansen! Get me a glass of iced juice! I need to cool down!"
Joel Winslow gave Butler Hansen a mild look. Butler Hansen forced a smile, lowered his eyes to feign ignorance, and pretended not to have heard.
Joel Winslow stood up and poured Mr. Winslow some tea. "Grandpa," he said softly, "drinking some tea will cool you down just the same."
Mr. Winslow: "..."

Lynn Winslow hung up the phone and watched the car that had just passed her stop at the red light ahead.
"Hit it," Lynn Winslow ordered her driver, a smile playing on her lips.
The driver froze for a moment, but he had to obey the young lady’s command. He floored the accelerator. BANG! The noise drew the attention of everyone nearby.
The sight of two incredibly expensive cars—both a rarity even in Quartos—colliding was naturally going to attract attention.
Even though Lynn Winslow had braced herself, the impact still jolted her. She was rubbing her reddening forehead when she heard the driver say, "Miss, someone from the other car is getting out."
Lynn Winslow looked up and saw that only the other driver had gotten out. She said softly, "When you get out, remember to apologize. Insist on seeing their boss before you discuss compensation."
The driver acknowledged her and got out. The other driver was staring at him, his brow furrowed and his face cold. "What kind of driving was that?" he demanded. "How do you even manage to hit me from that far away?"
Her driver smiled. "My apologies, my apologies. I just couldn’t brake in time. Are you hurt? Is there anyone else in your car? Are they hurt?"
The other driver glanced back at his car. Seeing that the man inside had no intention of getting out, he replied, "My boss is fine."
"How about you ask your boss to get out? I need to check if he’s hurt so I can report back to my boss."
The other driver hesitated for a moment, but then walked to the side of the car. From Lynn Winslow’s position, she could only see the window slowly rolling down. She pressed her lips together, an involuntary flutter of anticipation running through her.
The car door opened. It was indeed the person Lynn Winslow had been hoping to see.
Ian Sterling got out of the car, rubbing his neck. He gave Lynn Winslow’s driver a cold, indifferent look. The driver glanced at Lynn, who was peeking out her window, cleared his throat, and said with a smile, "Sir, I’m so sorry for the trouble. Are you feeling all right? Should we call an ambulance?"
"No need." Ian Sterling glanced at the other car and said coldly, "Leave your contact info. My driver will be in touch about the repair costs."
Hearing this, Lynn Winslow quickly got out of the car. Her eyes crinkled into a smile. "Ian Sterling, what a coincidence."
The moment Ian Sterling saw her, he knew this was one of her tricks. He narrowed his eyes and said in a deep voice, "Quite a coincidence, indeed. Hitting my car when it was at a full stop."
Lynn Winslow coughed awkwardly and changed the subject. "How about this? Why don’t we add each other? Then you can just send the bill straight to me."
"Don’t you already have my number? Just add my driver." Ian Sterling wasn’t falling for her trap. He was determined not to get entangled with Lynn Winslow again.
"No, you’re the owner of the car. It’s better if I add you. What if your driver tries to ask for too much money?" Lynn Winslow knew she was being unreasonable, but she brazenly put on a pitiful expression. "Besides, I already tried adding you by searching your phone number, but you wouldn’t accept and even blocked me."
Ian Sterling’s driver stared at her, speechless. ’Ask for too much money? Do I look like that kind of person?’
Ian Sterling turned his head away, not wanting to look at her. He was afraid he would soften if he saw that expression on her face.
"I promise I won’t bother you. Please, just add me? How else am I supposed to pay you for the repairs?"
The two cars were blocking the middle of the road, and the cars stuck behind them were laying on their horns. Ian Sterling glanced at the blocked traffic and had no choice but to say, "Let’s move the cars to the side first."
Lynn Winslow shook her head. "Nope. I’m not moving until you add me. Besides, your car isn’t going anywhere either." She pulled up a QR code on her phone and held it out in front of Ian Sterling.
Ian Sterling frowned at her shameless behavior. A lot of people recognized his car. If someone took a picture of this and posted it online, it would definitely cause trouble. He had no choice but to take out his phone, scan her QR code, and after adding her, say coolly, "Can we go now?"
"Wait a second." Lynn Winslow opened the chat window and sent a message. Only after hearing Ian Sterling’s phone chime did she turn to her driver with a beaming smile and say, "Let’s go."
She got into her car, rolled down the window to wave at Ian Sterling, and gave him a sweet smile. She was brimming with a warm, vibrant energy, looking every bit the good girl. Ian Sterling snorted inwardly.
’Some good girl. She’s a heartless player who’d turn on you in an instant. A damn scoundrel with no conscience.’
He ordered his driver to leave immediately, but he didn’t notice that in a sports car not far away, someone was taking pictures of him and Lynn Winslow.
In the [Well-Dressed Brutes Support Group], the owner of the sports car dropped a photo into the chat. The group, which had been silent for a long time, suddenly burst into activity.
Quartos’s Biggest Playboy: [Damn, who’s this getting all handsy with a woman in the middle of the road? [doge]]
Human ATM: [Well, well, well. A gorgeous woman. Our boy Finn is pretty lucky, eh? [doge]]
Your Wife’s Dream Guy: [Isn’t that... her? When did she get to Veridia? How did she end up with our Finn again?]
Human ATM: [@Your Wife’s Dream Guy, you actually think you deserve that name?]
