Chapter 804: Chapter 804: Aqua’s Help
Jackson’s eyes narrowed slightly when he heard those words.
’This woman has a grudge against Danielle too. If that is the case, this could be beneficial to me.’
He walked toward the woman and cautiously spoke.
"Hello. Are you also against Danielle?"
The woman immediately became alert and turned toward him.
However, the moment Jackson properly saw her face, he froze.
She was extraordinarily beautiful, with features that immediately caught his attention. For a moment, he simply stared at her before unconsciously murmuring, "What a beauty."
The woman’s brows immediately furrowed.
"Who are you? Leave me alone. I am not interested in talking with you."
Jackson finally came back to his senses and quickly composed himself.
"Miss, I hate Danielle too, and I want to take her down. I heard you speaking against Danielle, so I wanted to ask if there was anything I could help you with."
Angel blinked in surprise before narrowing her eyes slightly. "You hate her too?"
Jackson nodded. "Yes, I do."
Angel studied him suspiciously before asking, "But why? She currently holds a good position, and from the looks of it, you seem to be interconnected with her."
Jackson sighed, lowering his gaze as though recalling a painful memory.
"I used to be her ex-boyfriend, but because of a series of twists and turns, she eventually ended up with my brother. I watched helplessly as she broke our vow of love and got together with him. It was truly heartbreaking."
Angel’s eyes immediately brightened with interest. "Are you telling the truth?"
Jackson nodded again. "I am."
Angel quickly stepped closer and asked, "Can you give the same testimony in front of someone else?"
Jackson’s expression instantly changed. His brows furrowed as he realised that Angel might be an admirer of Asher. Otherwise, she would not have shown such intense enthusiasm toward his story.
He shook his head regretfully.
"I can’t. I was made to sign a confidentiality agreement. Danielle’s current boyfriend asked me to follow his lead. Otherwise, he would beat me up and take away the good position I currently have. Honestly, I am scared."
Angel’s eyes widened. "Wait, Asher already knows about this?"
Jackson immediately fell silent. Angel clenched her fist, her expression filled with disbelief and frustration. "How can Asher be so blind?"
Taking a deep breath, she turned around and prepared to leave. However, Jackson quickly stopped her.
"Don’t leave. Please, can you tell me how I should take revenge on Danielle? There is something I want her to do, and if she refuses, then I will be the one who suffers. I need some kind of leverage against her."
Angel frowned as she considered his words. After a moment, a strange smile appeared on her face. "There is one way that can achieve all of your goals."
She leaned closer to Jackson and quietly told him her plan. Once she finished speaking, Jackson stared at her in stunned silence.
"But if I do that, the base will automatically kick me out of here."
Angel laughed softly. "Well, you should know the power of illusion."
In an instant, Jackson’s eyes brightened. That day, when Danielle was about to slip away from the office once again, she was suddenly caught by Aqua.
Aqua walked up to Angel with an awkward expression before turning her attention toward Danielle.
"Danielle, I am sorry for whatever I said to you before. Trust me, I said those things under Angel’s influence. Otherwise, I would never have said such things to you."
Danielle calmly looked at Aqua. "I understand."
Aqua was stunned by her response. She had expected Danielle to at least humiliate her a little, but when she saw the calm expression on Danielle’s face, she suddenly began to feel ashamed of her past behavior.
’Why did I even go ahead and say those things to her? I was truly in no position to say any of that.’
Taking a deep breath, Aqua looked at Danielle and cautiously asked, "Then can we become friends?"
Danielle shook her head.
"I understand that you did not necessarily mean to say those words. You might have wanted to flatter me and get on her good side, but that is the extent of my understanding. I cannot understand you anymore. Otherwise, it would be even more unjust toward my past self."
Danielle paused, her gaze becoming distant. "If I truly had been just an ordinary admirer, would things have been different?"
As she asked that question, Aqua was stunned. Danielle continued, her voice calm but firm.
"Even if I did indeed have someone whom I liked, and even if those feelings were one-sided, you were truly in no position to ask me to feel ashamed. But you did. You did not do it merely because you wanted to get on Angel’s good side. You did it because that was the ugliness within you that came to the surface."
Aqua lowered her gaze, unable to find a response.
Danielle continued, "I will not say much more. I simply hope that you change a little in the future."
With that, Danielle turned around and walked away.
Aqua clenched her fists as she lowered her gaze. She felt miserable, but as the embarrassment slowly transformed into resentment, another thought began to surface in her mind.
’Danielle is blowing this completely out of proportion. Sure, I said those words, but was it really necessary for her to insult me so much?’
She mumbled under her breath, "Truly, Danielle is such a country bumpkin, yet she acts so arrogant. What does Asher even think is so special about her looks? If he can like Danielle, then he should be able to like me too."
As she said those words, she began fantasising about herself becoming closer to the man she desired while she walked out of the office.
However, after finishing her work, she suddenly saw Angel.
The moment she recognized her, Aqua’s previously pleasant mood vanished. She immediately turned around and prepared to leave, but Angel stopped her.
"Aqua, I need your help."
Aqua snorted and turned around to glare at her.
"You dirty rat. You made me become a rat in the office, and you think I am going to help you? Just what kind of person do you think I am?"
Angel clenched her fist, visibly irritated. "Is it truly necessary to make things so difficult for me? I am only trying to help you."
Hearing those words, Aqua chuckled mockingly.
"Oh, you are going to help me? By doing what? Apologising to Danielle? Well, logically speaking, with how enormous your ego is, you definitely will not do that."
Angel’s expression darkened.
"I have a way to make Danielle fall. Once you agree, we can proceed with the plan. Think about it. Danielle is your enemy now, and as long as she loses Asher’s backing, you can easily deal with her."
Aqua frowned. "What do you mean?"
Angel did not answer immediately.
"First, promise me that you will agree to my plan."
Aqua clenched her fist and thought about it for a while. She looked at Angel with suspicion before finally shaking her head.
"I am not interested."
With that, she turned around and walked away.
She might have once believed Angel, but after seeing how Angel had even dared to deceive Danielle, who was practically Asher’s half-girlfriend, Aqua no longer trusted her.
’If she can deceive someone who is that close to Asher, then how could I possibly survive if I get involved with her?’
Just as she reached that conclusion, Aqua turned around and started walking away.
Seeing this, Angel immediately shouted after her, "Aqua, you cannot do this to me!"
However, Aqua did not even bother turning around. She continued walking, her footsteps growing fainter as she disappeared down the corridor.
Angel clenched her fists so tightly that her nails pressed into her palms. With no other choice, she eventually turned around and left as well.
The next morning, when Aqua returned to the office, she immediately noticed Angel sitting there waiting for her.
Her expression instantly paled. ’Why is she here again?’
Aqua was about to turn around and leave, but Angel quickly stopped her.
"What condition do you have? Is there something you want? I am ready to give it to you as long as you agree to my plan."
Aqua frowned deeply.
"What kind of plan is it that you are so hell-bent on recruiting me? I do not think there isn’t any evil thing you have done on your own, so how exactly have you suddenly come to need my help?"
