Chapter 816: Chapter 816: Self-Sufficient

Silas did not know how much of this information was completely accurate, but he believed that taking precautions was always better than regretting carelessness later.

Therefore, he made sure to follow every rule as carefully as possible.

After Ivy eventually fell asleep, Silas slowly and carefully climbed out of bed. These days, Ivy had become especially sleepy, so he wanted to let her rest for as long as possible while he took responsibility for everything else.

He quietly left the room and closed the door behind him.

Ivy did not know how long she had slept, but when she eventually woke up, she felt surprisingly refreshed. She stretched slightly and rubbed her eyes before sitting up.

However, as soon as she stepped outside her room, she heard the sound of an argument.

The voices were loud enough to carry through the corridor.

Ivy massaged her forehead and walked toward the source of the disturbance. She soon saw Alana arguing with Bella.

"Your approach is truly wrong. If you continue doing things this way, Bella, you will never improve."

Bella snorted and folded her arms. "I do not need your opinion. I know how to get things done."

She turned her face away with an irritated expression. Alana became furious and pointed toward her. "You are being completely unreasonable!"

Ivy frowned as she approached them. "What is going on?"

Both women immediately turned toward her. Alana’s expression changed, and she quickly walked over to Ivy before guiding her toward a nearby seat.

"Come and sit down first. You should not be standing around for too long."

Even Bella became noticeably more careful around Ivy. She glanced at her with a serious expression before quickly trying to dismiss the argument.

"It is nothing. We were just talking about a game, and that is all."

Alana snorted but remained silent. Ivy looked from Alana to Bella, her eyes narrowing slightly.

She could immediately tell that something was wrong. ’They are obviously hiding something from me.’

Ivy sighed.

"If the two of you are planning something that you do not want to tell me about, then do not fight about it in front of me. It is too distracting."

Ivy could not explain why, but she had become particularly sensitive to noise lately.

Even the faint sounds coming from the control room could reach her ears when she was in a room on the opposite side of the spaceship.

Now that someone was constantly shouting so close to her, she genuinely could not tolerate it anymore.

Bella, hearing those words, nodded repeatedly, almost as though she had suddenly become extremely obedient.

Just as the three women settled down and began talking about random things, Jade walked over. He looked at Ivy with a serious expression. "Ivy, let us talk."

Ivy nodded, and soon, she and Jade were alone inside a separate room. Jade looked at her for a moment before speaking.

"Nanami is most likely going to make his first move soon. I believe his first attack will happen within the next fifteen days."

Ivy instinctively tensed. Her fingers curled slightly against the fabric beneath her. Jade noticed her reaction and sighed.

"Do not worry. You will not be harmed. I will make sure of that."

Ivy slowly relaxed and nodded. "I understand."

Seeing how aggrieved she looked, Jade could not help feeling a faint ache in his heart. However, he quickly suppressed the emotion and stood up.

"I will take my leave first."

He knew that if he stayed near Ivy for too long, he would constantly pity her.

Eventually, that pity would turn into an overwhelming desire to help her, protect her, or simply remain close to her, and he did not want to allow himself to become that vulnerable.

Once outside Ivy’s room, Jade quickly returned to his own room and sat on the edge of his bed.

For a long time, he remained there without moving.

He no longer knew how he was supposed to behave in front of Ivy and Silas. He knew that both of them trusted him, trusted him enough to bring him along even though Nanami had repeatedly warned them about him.

That realization moved him somewhat. However, that was the extent of it. He did not dare harbor any unrealistic fantasies.

After all, his past self had already warned him about where such feelings would lead. Jade eventually lay down on the bed and stared at the ceiling.

’What does my life even amount to?’

When he had been younger, he had often dreamed about Ivy. At one point, he had almost considered Ivy to be his entire world.

But as he grew older, he began to understand the complexities of relationships and fate. He knew that he could never truly have Ivy.

Sometimes, he genuinely felt envious of Silas.

Ivy had chosen Silas every single time, without hesitation. No matter how many possibilities existed, she always seemed to return to him.

’If only I were in Silas’s place.’

The thought had crossed Jade’s mind more times than he cared to admit.

Sometimes, he even wondered why he and Ivy had been destined to cross paths in the first place.

’Why did I have to see those visions of Ivy? If I had never seen her, perhaps I would have fallen in love with someone else. Maybe my ending would have been completely different.’

As those thoughts filled his mind, Jade slowly closed his eyes.

Meanwhile, Nanami remained inside the control room, watching the various readings displayed across the screens.

His eyes narrowed slightly as he murmured to himself. "It looks like I need to accelerate my plan."

Five days passed aboard the spaceship.

Ivy had been feeling particularly down during the journey, so everyone decided to keep themselves occupied by playing games, chatting with one another, and finding different ways to prevent boredom from settling over the group.

Every morning, they would have breakfast together before discussing various topics related to combat.

When that was not enough to occupy them, they would even conduct smaller combat-training sessions inside the spacious training area of the spaceship.

Alana and Bella were the two who clashed the most.

It was also during these five days that Ivy realized just how incompatible the two women actually were.

Alana was gentle and cautious by nature. Bella, on the other hand, was much more dominant and aggressive. Bella believed in bravery and taking risks, while Alana believed in staying secure and taking the safest possible approach.

Because of those differences, the two inevitably ended up arguing whenever they participated in combat exercises.

Alana often pointed out that Bella was risking everything merely to win.

"If you continue fighting like this, you will eventually get yourself seriously injured. You keep taking unnecessary risks just because they help you win. In a real battle, one mistake could cost you your life."

Bella would immediately argue back. "You play far too safely. If you fight like this in a real battle, you will not even survive the first round."

Their arguments would continue for quite some time, with neither woman willing to concede.

Ivy, however, did not stop them.

’Let them argue. At least they are not sitting around feeling depressed like I am.’

In an odd way, watching the two of them bicker actually helped keep the atmosphere lively.

To keep herself from becoming too depressed, Ivy eventually took out several books and began reading them out of boredom.

Surprisingly, the books turned out to be extremely useful.

She became particularly interested in information about cultivating vegetables and managing agricultural land. After all, she already had a huge farmhouse inside her temporal storage.

She had everything from cabbages and tomatoes to numerous other vegetables growing there.

If that was not enough, she had even hired several skilled people capable of making different kinds of machines. She had also begun raising livestock inside her temporal storage.

After upgrading her temporal storage, it had become capable of storing living animals.

Therefore, Ivy had asked Silas to bring several animals into it, including chickens, pigs, a cow, dogs, wild hares, and various other creatures.

Over time, she had practically created a small zoo inside her temporal storage, although nearly every animal there could eventually be used as a source of food.

Fortunately, the animals were multiplying rapidly.
