Zombie Bodyguard

Chapter 2034 - 2031: Harvest

Chapter 2034: Chapter 2031: Harvest

The evil spirits inside the city gate retreated, the ones besieging the Cavalry Group also pulled back; all of them rushed toward the ancient zither, but the ghost soldiers still didn’t dare move, because the scene was just too weird.

"Lin Tian, the music works!" Zhang Lingyu said in surprise.

"Yeah, it works, but the evil spirits aren’t dealt with yet. Xuanxuan can’t keep playing forever." Lin Tian was the calmest one, there was even killing intent flashing in his eyes.

The evil spirits kept gathering; the ones in the back were blocked, constantly squeezing forward. Some jumped up, riding on other evil spirits. More and more jumped, and soon a little hill of evil spirits piled up at the base of the city wall.

Every one of them tried to climb upward, evil spirits stacking like a human ladder, climbing over each other, following along the city wall, building higher and higher.

He Shan stared from afar, utterly dumbfounded. How the hell many did they stack to build it like this? Give it a bit more time and they’d probably reach the top of the wall.

"Lin Tian, the evil spirits... are almost up." Zhang Lingyu swallowed hard, also shocked by the scene in front of her, while Xiao Manxuan remained utterly indifferent, just fully focused on playing, as if she hadn’t seen anything happening around her.

"Protect Xuanxuan well!" Lin Tian instructed quietly, then took off the metal bracelet from his hand.

Zhang Lingyu had just opened her mouth to ask what he was going to do, when Lin Tian waved his hand— the bracelet had already turned into a purple sword, and purple Red Flame burst into life along the blade, electric arcs roaming within the swirling flames.

"You actually absorbed the Heavenly Thunder Talisman’s energy!" Zhang Lingyu’s eyes widened in shock; this was her first time realizing that a zombie could absorb thunder energy.

Lin Tian couldn’t care less what she thought. He raised the Heavenly Tribulation Sword, moved his mind, and the purple flames surged again. Purple flames began burning all over his body as well, turning him into a flaming giant.

The ghost soldiers on the wall felt the aura of the purple flames and scrambled away in fear; even facing the Evil Spirit Tide, they had never felt this kind of terror.

"What’s he trying to do?" He Shan exclaimed.

"He wants to take on the evil spirits alone." City Lord Jia said in a deep voice.

"Holy shit..." He Shan suddenly screamed, and not just him— every ghost soldier who could see Lin Tian yelled out, then got scared silly.

Lin Tian leapt off the city wall, diving straight into the piled-up mass of evil spirits.

Sword Energy Cross!

At the instant he made contact with the evil spirits, Lin Tian unleashed Sword Energy Cross. Countless sword shadows and countless streams of purple flame, blinding thunder and lightning, wove together into the light of death, stabbing deep into the evil spirit heap.

Rumble...

The Earthquake made the piled-up evil spirits collapse like a landslide, crashing down. Those that touched the purple flames and lightning were instantly burned into nothingness.

Just one move, and the mountain of evil spirits was blasted flat, leaving a huge crater in the ground. Smoke swirled inside the crater, and the rock surfaces were scorched to a dark red.

All the ghost soldiers were stunned, some even dropped their weapons. Especially those who’d despised Lin Tian for hiding behind a woman— they were shaken so hard it felt like their souls were about to fly out.

The one who felt it the most was He Shan. He picked up his broadsword, not to kill enemies, but to tap the back of it against his own head, muttering in a daze, "Was I planning to challenge him before?"

"Looks like we all misjudged him." City Lord Jia steadied himself, then sighed.

But they didn’t have time for more sentiment; the evil spirits surged up again, even more frenzied than before. Just now they were attacking the city; now they were here purely because of the zither music.

In the blink of an eye, Lin Tian and the crater were buried under the Evil Spirit Tide. The evil spirits started climbing the wall again, quickly forming another hill.

"He saved us, we can’t just watch him fall into trouble!" City Lord Jia’s expression turned grave again as he prepared to regroup the Cavalry Group and charge back in.

But suddenly, ten thousand beams of golden light shot out from the heap of evil spirits, like a sun buried beneath them. Any evil spirit that touched the golden light melted away, not into blood, but into countless points of light that drifted for a moment, then vanished.

Lin Tian appeared again in the crater, sword in hand. Purple flames danced along the blade, electric arcs roaming. Most shocking of all, golden light was blazing from his chest. Right now he was like a god or devil descending into the world, his pressure covering the entire battlefield.

Some ghost soldiers couldn’t help it— they dropped their weapons, prostrated themselves, and knelt.

But Lin Tian himself felt something totally different: excitement. That’s right, pure excitement.

The Sword Spirit was also yelling excitedly in his mind, "Master, Master, we’ve struck gold! The Heavenly Tribulation Sword can absorb evil spirit energy!"

"I really didn’t expect it— the quality of evil spirit energy is actually no worse than Shishen. Harvest them!" Lin Tian shouted in his head, thrilled.

His eyes shone. The way he was looking at the evil spirits now was like an adventurer in the desert seeing water; like a guy just out of prison, finding even a sow kind of pretty.

Kill!

Lin Tian jumped out of the crater, charging toward the evil spirits of his own accord. He was going to reap energy.

But to He Shan and the others, this was him bravely charging the enemy. Of course, Lin Tian really was brave— not just anyone would dare jump into a heap of evil spirits.

"He’s truly a real man. I should apologize to him for what I thought before." He Shan said in his straightforward way.

Lin Tian swung the Heavenly Tribulation Sword and rushed into the evil spirit crowd. The evil spirits simply couldn’t withstand a single strike combining the Heavenly Tribulation Sword and purple flames. He harvested freely; with every evil spirit he destroyed, a surge of energy was devoured by the Heavenly Tribulation Sword.

However, although Lin Tian was harvesting fast, the evil spirits were coming faster, and they all surged in his direction— more precisely, toward the ancient zither behind him. Lin Tian was soon drowned again by evil spirits, then tens of thousands of sword shadows, streams of flame and electric light exploded out, blasting the evil spirits apart.

That blast wiped out who knows how many evil spirits. Lin Tian just felt a massive wave of energy pour into his body from the Heavenly Tribulation Sword, like floodgates opening. His zombie body frantically absorbed energy, strengthening itself from the inside out.

"So damn good!" Feeling his body growing stronger, Lin Tian thought only one word could describe his mood:爽.

The Sword Spirit was over the moon too, because it was also absorbing energy. As it sucked in the power, it shouted excitedly, "Master, it’s too awesome following you. This treatment is better than King Arthur’s!"

"Remember that. Follow me and you’ll feast on the best of the best— I guarantee you’ll surpass the Sword of the King." Lin Tian said, like a local tyrant roping in his little underling.

Don’t be fooled by how well-behaved the Sword Spirit had been lately— that was because of the contract binding it. The former Sword of the King wasn’t something that’d submit so easily. What Lin Tian wanted was complete conquest, both mentally and physically.

Man and Sword Spirit both immersed themselves in the bliss of devouring energy, but they hadn’t enjoyed it for long before a powerful suction erupted from his brow and Lower Elixir Field— one cold, one hot, two streams of aura swept through, and the energy was instantly swallowed clean by the two hidden big shots.

"What the hell, you sons of— who..." The Sword Spirit was in the middle of enjoying itself when the energy suddenly vanished, making it want to curse someone’s grandfather. But the moment it sensed that familiar aura, it shut up at once, obediently shrinking back beside the Ksitigarbha Order, even more docile than a little rabbit.

Lin Tian wanted to curse too. Every time he finally got his hands on some good stuff, those two big shots popped out to rob him. Was there any justice left?
