Chapter 2057: Chapter 2054: Ore (Part 2)
If not for the search of the Ying Gou Bloodline, Lin Tian would not have entered the Netherworld, and since Shangguan Ziyue is from the Netherworld, so, when he said ’goodbye forever’, he truly meant it.
"Is it really ’goodbye forever’?" Shangguan Hongyue’s mood sank instantly, and Xiao Manxuan and Zhang Lingyu glared at Lin Tian, blaming him for being so resolute in his words.
Lin Tian was at a loss for words. If he wasn’t a bit resolute, was he supposed to engage in an earth-shattering romance crossing races and worlds with her? Obviously impossible; she couldn’t come to the Human Realm, and it was even more unlikely that I could marry into her Netherworld.
"Something’s not right, the ores aren’t right!" Shangguan Ao Yue suddenly said.
"Boss, what’s not right?" the Soul Hunter asked.
Shangguan Ao Yue held a piece of ore, squeezed it hard, and it shattered instantly. She rubbed the powder and frowned, "These Blood Spirit Ores are not pure enough to meet the requirements for forging equipment."
"To use Blood Spirit Ore for crafting equipment, the ore must be of good quality or higher. After these ores are crushed, impurities can be seen with the physical eye. Clearly, they won’t do," Shangguan Ao Yue said regrettably.
Lin Tian peered closely and indeed saw impurities. The powder mixed with sparkling tiny crystals and dull rock powder. These tiny crystals seemed to be the effective components, but their concentration was pitifully low.
"What should we do then?" Ah Dai reluctantly asked.
"It’s said that Blood Spirit Ore forms when ordinary ore absorbs a certain energy from the Blood Sea over time, and the closer it is to the Blood Sea, the better the ore. So, we must continue moving forward," Shangguan Ao Yue said solemnly, her gaze sweeping over her companions.
The Soul Hunters showed fearless expressions, and Ah Dai smiled, "Boss, we can start at any time. We’ve come this far; it would be a pity not to see the Blood Sea."
While the Soul Hunters planned to continue towards the Blood Sea, Lin Tian picked up a red plant from the ground and began to observe it closely.
"Master, these plants have energy similar to the ore. This king suspects the plants use the ore as nourishment," the Sword Spirit said in his mind.
"I understand now." Lin Tian realized something and smiled. She looked at Mu Yun and said, "Mu Yun Envoy, these plants grow by absorbing the ore’s energy. The higher the purity of the Blood Spirit Ore, the better the plants grow. So, we don’t need to dig everywhere, just find the most lush plants, and we’ll find good ore."
Mu Yun’s eyes lit up, and his expression became excited. Shangguan Ao Yue was also pleased. She glanced at Lin Tian, wanting to say a word of thanks, but considering the earlier conflict, she couldn’t bring herself to say it.
Lin Tian didn’t care about thanks. If it weren’t for City Lord Jia and He Shan urgently needing the ore, he wouldn’t have bothered.
"Move out," Shangguan Ao Yue gave the order, and the group left the cave, continuing to venture deeper into the stone forest. This time, she personally carried Hongyue on her back.
Since their destinations were the same, Lin Tian’s group of four were essentially traveling with their team, only now Shangguan Ao Yue was less hostile than before.
After several interactions, she no longer considered Lin Tian and his companions as playboys, but still reserved her opinion on Lin Tian’s combat power since she believed that the witch doctor’s combat power shouldn’t be high.
Many peaks in the stone forest were covered with red plants, but they were only slightly better than those in the cave, so Shangguan Ao Yue didn’t stop to dig.
After walking a bit further, the air seemed to become heavy. The Soul Hunters felt oppressed, as if something was suppressing them.
"Look over there," Xiao Manxuan suddenly shouted.
Everyone followed her direction and saw a blood-red expanse in the distance. The stone peaks looked like they were stained with blood, eerie and enchanting.
"Based on Brother Lin Tian’s speculation, such lush plants must have excellent ore buried underneath," Ah Dai said with delight, feeling a close connection with Lin Tian, so his address was more affectionate.
The Soul Hunters, though excited, weren’t like a disorderly mob rushing over. On Shangguan Ao Yue’s order to advance, the team continued to move while maintaining a combat formation.
Lin Tian and the other three followed their team. Since the stone peak was on the hilltop, they walked up the slope for a while.
Shangguan Ao Yue was the first to reach the hilltop. Instead of immediately checking the ore’s condition, she froze upon reaching there, her giant sword gradually lowering.
Hongyue, on her back, also froze, her eyes widening as she stared ahead. Seeing her unmovable, Ziyue hastened her pace, running and shouting, "Big sister, what..."
Before she could finish, she stopped, staring ahead as well. Lin Tian and the two women exchanged a glance and ran up to the hilltop, only to be stunned by what they saw.
It was not a forest, wasteland, or stone forest, but a vast sea, endless to the horizon. However, this sea was bizarrely calm, devoid of ocean waves, more like a still lake, with only the occasional wind causing ripples across its eerily quiet surface.
What was more suffocating was that it didn’t appear bright blue, prompting an expansive feeling, but instead, was so dark, possibly due to the dim Sky, it felt like a plunge into an abyss after staring too long.
"Legend has it that beyond the stone forest lies the Blood Sea. So it is true," Shangguan Ao Yue whispered.
"The Netherworld’s sea is truly strange," Xiao Manxuan remarked curiously.
"Whether it’s strange or not, collecting ore is our primary task," Mu Yun reminded them.
Lin Tian subtly furrowed his brows. When did Mu Yun start showing concern for the Soul Hunters’ task? Her mission was supposed to be assisting in the search for Ying Gou.
"Everyone, the ore here should be sufficient for you to complete your task. Let’s part ways here, meeting again in the future," Lin Tian couldn’t figure it out, so he decided to give up probing further, intending to say goodbye to the Soul Hunters and continue seeking the Ferryman.
But Mu Yun opposed, "Lin Tian, their task seems urgent, why not lend them a hand."
"Helping them is helping City Lord Jia, which means aiding the fortress. It should not delay us much," Zhang Lingyu also agreed.
Shangguan Ao Yue said nothing, but Ah Dai laughed, "Brother Lin seems quite familiar with Blood Spirit Ore, with your help, it should be much faster."
"Alright," for the sake of He Shan and City Lord Jia, Lin Tian agreed.
The group ignored the Blood Sea as Lin Tian chose a spot and instructed them to start digging, removing the surface plants and excavating the rocky surface. Although the rocks were very hard, the Soul Hunters didn’t wield ordinary weapons, so digging wasn’t difficult.
With a crisp "ding," Ah Dai swung his sword down, and the blade hit something. He pried it up with force, bringing out a piece of blood-red ore amidst the soil.
The ore was the size of a fist, an irregular polyhedron with every face very smooth, looking like an unprocessed blood-red gemstone.
Shangguan Ao Yue squeezed it hard but couldn’t crush it, overjoyed she said, "This is it, dig them all out."
