Amon unsheathed his short sword and took a step back toward the frozen snail.

The creature remained completely motionless, its body covered in a thick layer of ice.

Amon swung his sword downward, holding the handle with both hands.

Slash!

The blade cleanly separated the snail’s head from its body.

The moment it died, the frozen body suddenly began dissolving.

Its shell and flesh broke apart into countless particles of pale mana, leaving behind some flesh and bones.

Half of the particles flowed toward Amon’s body and disappeared into his skin, while the remaining half scattered into the dungeon and vanished.

Amon blinked. ’No reward, huh... Well, it’s a one-in-a-hundred chance.’

Unlike ordinary creatures, the monsters inside this dungeon were made almost entirely from refined mana.

Once they were killed, a portion of that refined energy could be absorbed by the person who defeated them.

Amon opened his System and glanced at his level.

[Level: 1 -- 10%]

A small smile appeared on his face before he turned toward the approaching swarm.

’Let’s see how far I can take this.’

Hundreds of snails were slowly crawling toward him.

Their long antennae swayed through the air as their disgusting eyes remained fixed on Amon.

Amon stared at the swarm for a moment, playing with his sword.

’They’re slow.’

That was their biggest weakness.

They had no ranged attacks, and their movement speed was terrible.

If Amon allowed them to surround him, their numbers could become troublesome, but if he kept moving, there was very little they could actually do.

Amon tightened his grip around his sword as the first snail reached him.

"One at a time."

He stepped to the side, allowing the creature to crawl past him before cutting through its neck.

Slash!

The creature dissolved into mana, and Amon immediately moved toward the next one.

He continued moving through the gaps between them, never allowing the creatures to completely surround him.

Whenever several snails approached from the same direction, Amon simply changed his position and forced them to crawl after him.

His sword repeatedly flashed through the dim dungeon.

Slash!

Slash!

One by one, the snails disappeared, and Amon quickly realized that fighting them wasn’t particularly difficult.

’If every monster here is this weak, reaching Level 5 won’t take long.’

He cut down another snail before glancing at the swarm behind it.

There were still dozens crawling toward him.

’But why are there so many?’

He had only encountered one snail when he entered the dungeon but hundreds had suddenly appeared.

It was almost as if something had driven them out of their original territory.

’Could there be a stronger monster deeper inside?’ The thought made him slow down for a moment. ’Are these things running from something?’

That was certainly possible.

Dungeons had their own ecosystems, and weaker monsters didn’t normally gather together for no reason.

Amon’s expression became slightly serious. ’I’ll have to be careful.’

He immediately returned his attention to the battle.

Another snail crawled toward him as Amon stepped forward and cut its head off.

The monster dissolved.

The refined mana entered his body, and the next instant, a surge of energy suddenly erupted inside Amon.

His mana pathways seemed to expand while a strange sensation spread through every part of his body.

Amon stopped moving, taking in a deep breath as he savored the feeling.

The sensation was incredibly satisfying.

It felt as though every part of his body had suddenly become lighter and stronger.

Amon couldn’t help but smile.

"Level up."

The feeling was almost intoxicating.

For someone who had spent his entire life being weak, suddenly becoming stronger was something else.

’Fuck.’ Amon clenched his fist. ’I might actually get addicted to this.’

Still, he didn’t allow himself to become distracted.

Another snail was already approaching, and Amon stepped forward and swung his sword.

Slash!

The snail’s head flew away as its body immediately dissolved.

Amon waited for the mana to enter his body before checking his System again.

[Level: 2 -- 8%]

Amon’s expression immediately became tired.

"...Ah, fuck?"

’It reset.’

The percentage wasn’t tracking his total experience.

Each level required considerably more energy than the previous one.

The amount he needed to reach Level 2 had been relatively small, but now his progress toward the next level had been recalculated.

Amon sighed. "So I can’t farm these things forever."

He looked toward the remaining snails.

There were still plenty of them, but the experience they provided was already becoming less significant.

Amon raised his sword again. ’Then I’ll kill enough to reach the next level and move on.’

---

Several hours later, Amon stood in the middle of the dungeon with his sword hanging loosely at his side.

The ground around him was covered with the remains of countless Mana Snails.

The creatures had been steadily disappearing as Amon continued hunting them.

Eventually, his level reached three.

[Level: 3]

Amon looked at the notification before closing it. "That’s enough."

He had no intention of wasting hours killing the same weak monsters.

If he wanted to reach Level 5 quickly, he needed stronger opponents.

Amon began walking deeper into the dungeon. ’I’ll kill the boss before I leave.’

There was another reason for his decision.

Killing a dungeon boss didn’t cause the dungeon itself to disappear.

However, eliminating the boss significantly reduced the chance of the dungeon becoming unstable and eventually causing an outbreak.

Normally, Amon wouldn’t particularly care, but there was something much more interesting.

’The first-kill reward.’

Dungeon bosses often possessed special rewards for the first person who defeated them.

Those rewards were usually considerably better than what could be obtained from respawned boss monsters.

Amon’s eyes brightened. ’If I’m already here, I might as well take it.’

He continued walking deeper into the dungeon.

The environment gradually began changing.

The glowing plants became less common, while the walls became darker and more jagged.

Amon’s footsteps slowed when something sounded different.

Click.

Amon stopped.

Click... click...

The sound came from above as his eyes slowly moved upward.

Several dark shapes were clinging to the ceiling.

’...What the hell are those?’

They looked like a strange combination of scorpion and crab.

Their bodies were covered in thick shells, while several sharp legs clung tightly to the ceiling.

Large pincers extended from their fronts, slowly opening and closing.

Dozens of those strange creatures were hanging directly above Amon.

Their claws began clicking simultaneously.

Click! Click! Click!

Amon slowly tightened his grip around his sword. "...So that’s what was scaring the snails."

The creatures suddenly turned their heads toward him.

One by one, they landed in front of Amon in a group of six.
