10,000x Rebate System: Every Return Makes Me Stronger
Chapter 33: Richard’s GenerosityAmon opened the door to one of the private rooms inside the Adventure Bureau.
Several stacks of documents were arranged around him, while a crystal tablet rested beside his right hand.
Richard looked up from his paperwork and faintly smiled when he noticed Amon.
"You’re finally here."
Amon closed the door behind him before walking toward the empty chair. "You called me, so I came."
Richard leaned back slightly and looked Amon over from head to toe.
"Judging by the fact that you’re still standing, you must either be incredibly lucky or much stronger than you look."
Amon sat down and shrugged his shoulders. "I suppose I got lucky."
Richard raised an eyebrow at the answer before letting out a quiet chuckle.
"You cleared a dungeon with a Level 5 boss that apparently had the combat strength of a Level 10 monster, and you came back with only a few wounds."
He shook his head slightly. "Most people wouldn’t call that ordinary luck."
Amon didn’t bother arguing with him.
He looked toward the crystal tablet on the desk and asked, "Did you find something unusual?"
Richard’s faint smile disappeared as he reached toward the crystal tablet and tapped the surface several times.
The room immediately darkened as a large projection appeared above the desk.
It displayed several waves of different colors moving across a complicated graph.
Amon leaned forward slightly. "What am I looking at?"
"Energy signatures."
Richard pointed toward the projection as several wavelengths began moving across the screen.
"These are the different energy signatures we detected inside the dungeon you entered."
Amon studied the projection carefully while Richard continued explaining.
"Most of these are already known to us." He pointed toward several of the smaller wavelengths.
"Some are signatures we’ve encountered in other dungeons, while others are simply variations of normal mana."
Amon nodded slowly. "So nothing unusual?"
Richard shook his head as he touched the crystal tablet again.
One particular wavelength suddenly expanded across the projection, becoming significantly larger than the others.
Amon stared at the projection as Richard’s voice became noticeably more serious.
"Except this one."
The strange wavelength moved across the screen in a pattern that Amon had never seen before.
Amon stared at it for several seconds before asking, "How is it different?"
"We don’t know."
Richard’s answer came almost immediately.
"We’ve been studying it since we received your report, but we haven’t been able to determine what kind of energy produced this signature."
He paused before adding, "We don’t even know whether it’s actually a form of mana."
Amon leaned back into the chair. "So you’re saying you found something inside that dungeon that you don’t understand."
"Exactly." Richard sighed and rubbed his forehead before looking toward Amon again. "And before you ask, yes, I’m aware of how dangerous that expedition was."
"Well, I did almost lose my life," Amon replied with a shrug.
His expression became slightly apologetic. "I’m sorry, Amon."
Amon looked at him with some surprise.
"We sent you into what we believed was a newly formed low-level dungeon." He kept his voice professional, but it still had a sense of humility.
"We had no idea the dungeon contained an environment like that or that its boss possessed such abnormal strength."
Richard’s tone became sincere. "If we had known, we wouldn’t have sent someone your age inside."
Amon waved his hand dismissively. "Don’t worry about it. I’m alive, and I got some useful experience from it."
Richard smiled faintly at his response. "You really are taking this rather calmly."
Amon shrugged before remembering something. "There’s something I wanted to ask."
Richard gestured for him to continue.
"Why did you share my report with Walton Academy?"
Richard’s expression became slightly amused. "Walton Academy?"
Amon nodded. "I saw my report during one of our classes."
Richard shook his head. "It wasn’t just Walton Academy."
Amon raised an eyebrow.
"I sent it to every major academy and research institution that could potentially contribute to the investigation."
Amon stared at him for a moment. "Why?"
Richard turned off the projection before leaning back in his chair.
"Because this could be an important breakthrough for humanity."
His expression became serious again.
"If these unusual energy signatures are connected to the changes occurring inside newly formed dungeons, then understanding them could completely change how we approach dungeon research."
He paused for a moment before continuing.
"We might discover why certain dungeons are becoming unstable, why monsters are behaving differently, or even what causes dungeons to form in the first place."
Amon’s eyes narrowed slightly. ’The System gave me a quest to investigate the dungeon anomaly.’
The timing was becoming increasingly suspicious.
Richard, however, didn’t seem to notice the thoughts running through Amon’s head.
"For now, we don’t have enough information to draw any conclusions." He smiled reassuringly. "But you did something extremely useful by documenting everything you saw."
Amon nodded slowly as Richard then reached toward another document and pushed it across the desk.
"And the Adventure Bureau intends to compensate you for that."
Amon looked down at the document before Richard continued.
"You’re also receiving compensation for the mistake we made by sending you into a dungeon without sufficient information."
Amon’s eyes immediately brightened. "How much?"
Richard smiled when he saw the sudden change in Amon’s expression.

’I’m fucking rich.’
Amon walked out of the Adventure Bureau with a grin that refused to disappear.
He looked down at his phone again, checking the balance as though the money might suddenly vanish if he stopped looking at it.
’Five hundred thousand.’ Amon slowly put the phone back into his pocket. ’That’s more than what Ambrosia earns in a year!’
His phone vibrated again before he could take another step.
Amon pulled it out and noticed that the message was from Ambrosia. ’Talk about the devil and she appears.’
---
Ambrosia: I’ll be coming home late tonight. You and Sidney should order something to eat.
---
Amon stared at the message for a moment before putting his phone away.
’Ordering food would be easy.’ He took a few steps before changing his mind. ’But I want to cook something properly.’
After everything that had happened recently, Amon suddenly felt like eating something he had made himself.
"Fine." He turned toward the direction of home. "I’ll cook."
---
By the time Amon returned to the apartment, the sky had already begun turning orange.
He placed his bag down and immediately headed toward the kitchen, rolling up his sleeves as he began preparing the ingredients.
The kitchen slowly filled with the sound of chopping vegetables, sizzling oil, and the occasional clatter of utensils against the counter.
Amon moved around the kitchen with surprising confidence.
His cooking skills weren’t anything extraordinary, but after getting the Cooking Mastery skill from the System, he was getting good.
While the food was cooking, Amon suddenly remembered something.
"Sidney."
He wiped his hands on a cloth before walking toward the hallway.
He stopped outside Sidney’s bedroom and stared at the closed door.
’...Hah. I still need to complete my quest.’
Amon knocked twice before taking a step back.
Knock. Knock.
"Sidney?" Amon frowned when she ignored him and knocked again, this time a little louder. "Sidney, open the door."
For several seconds, the hallway remained completely silent.
Amon’s eyebrow twitched. ’What the hell is she doing in there?’
He waited another moment before hearing Sidney’s voice from the other side. "What do you want?"
Amon leaned against the doorframe. "Dinner is almost ready."
There was another brief silence before Sidney replied. "I don’t want anything."
Amon sighed and rubbed his forehead. "You were the one who told me to make something for you this morning."
The room immediately became silent again. When she ignored him again, Amon got fed up.
His voice turned cold as he said, "Open the door, otherwise I will break the door and spank you till morning."
A few seconds later, he heard the sound of the lock clicking.
The door slowly opened as Sidney peeked through the gap with a cautious expression.
Amon looked at her before saying once again, "Dinner is ready."
The girl lowered her head and walked out of the room.
