The next morning, Amon returned to the apartment after finishing his usual training.

’Urgh, even though I have lost a considerable amount of weight, I still feel like a bum.’

His shoulders were still sore from the increased workload, but his breathing had already returned to normal by the time he opened the front door.

’Hm?’

He immediately noticed Ambrosia sitting on the sofa with a laptop resting on her lap.

She wore a soft cream-colored blouse that was slightly open at the collar and a pair of fitted dark trousers.

Her long hair was tied loosely over one shoulder, and the morning light made her look elegant and quietly beautiful.

Ambrosia looked up when she heard him enter.

Her tired eyes immediately softened into a smile. "Amon, come here for a moment."

Amon looked at her suspiciously before walking toward the sofa. "What happened?"

Ambrosia turned the laptop toward him.

A photograph of a beautiful location filled the screen.

It showed a large forest surrounding a quiet resort built beside a crystal-clear lake, with mountains rising in the distance beneath a bright blue sky.

Amon stared at it. "What’s this?"

Ambrosia smiled. "How would you feel about skipping school today?"

Amon immediately looked at her. "...Why?"

"We could all go here for a short vacation." She smiled. "It would be nice if our family could have some fun time."

Amon narrowed his eyes. He knew it wasn’t that simple. "Do you have work there?"

Ambrosia smiled as if she had expected that question. "You’re as smart as always."

Amon sighed. "That doesn’t sound like a vacation."

Ambrosia closed the laptop slightly before lowering her voice. "I think I can find some clues about the Cordo family’s connection to a terrorist organization there."

Amon’s expression immediately became serious. "What?"

"There are several people connected to the investigation who regularly visit that area." Ambrosia looked toward him. "If I’m right, I might be able to find something useful."

Amon frowned, clearly not comfortable with the idea of her becoming a detective. "That’s dangerous."

"I know." Ambrosia gave him a reassuring smile. "That’s why I’m asking the whole family to come with me."

She continued before Amon could object.

"If we’re all there for a vacation, nobody will find it suspicious. I’ll simply spend some time looking around while we enjoy ourselves."

Amon rubbed his forehead. ’She’s actually going to get herself killed at this rate.’

He didn’t like the idea at all.

Before he could respond, the bathroom door opened.

Sidney walked out with only a towel wrapped around her body.

Water still clung to her skin, and her black hair with orange highlights stuck to her shoulders.

Amon felt a brief flash of heat the moment he saw her like that. ’...Fuck these stupid hormones.’

Sidney stopped when she noticed the two of them sitting together. "What are you talking about?"

Ambrosia looked toward her. "We’re going on vacation."

Sidney gave her the same suspicious look as Amon. "Vacation?"

Ambrosia nodded. "Yes, and you should wear something appropriate when you come out of the bathroom."

Sidney looked down at herself before shrugging and answering. "I can wear what I want, and I don’t want to go to the stupid--"

Amon immediately turned toward her. "Listen to your mother."

Sidney glared at him, her cheeks becoming slightly red within a few seconds. "...You don’t get to decide that."

Amon simply crossed his arms at her meek protest. "Just listen to her."

Sidney opened her mouth to argue before closing it again.

Ambrosia looked between the two of them with a confused expression.

"...Why did Sidney suddenly become so obedient?" she mumbled to herself.

Amon let out a quiet sigh and changed the topic. "Fine, I’ll come."

Ambrosia’s face immediately brightened. "Really?"

Amon nodded. ’If she goes alone, she’s going to do something stupid.’

He knew Ambrosia well enough to understand that she would probably put herself in danger if she thought it was necessary for her case.

At least if the whole family went, he could keep an eye on her.

Ambrosia stood up with a happy smile and opened her arms. "Come here."

Amon immediately recognized what was coming.

He took one step backward. "No."

Ambrosia blinked. "What?"

"I’m going to get ready."

Amon quickly turned around and walked into his room before she could grab him.

He closed the door behind himself and leaned against it for a moment. "...Why does she always have to get so close?"

Amon rubbed his face before walking toward his wardrobe.

He opened it and stared at his clothes. "Now what the hell am I supposed to wear?"

---

The three family members got on the train for the small city of Krut for the vacation.

The trip wasn’t long, as it took them only three hours to reach their destination.

Amon was the first to step out of the train, after which he helped his mother and sister step down.

Ambrosia looked around the place as an involuntary word escaped her mouth. "...Woah."

Even the station, which was mainly a concrete structure, had nature integrated into it.

Plants and trees grew around the place, making it unnaturally beautiful.

Amon also nodded his head as he looked around before turning toward Ambrosia. "What should we do first?"

The mature lady smiled and suggested, "Let’s book a cab and roam around the city first."

"This place is so humid." Sidney complained loudly, fanning her face with her hand. "Urgh, how am I going to stay here?"

"Just shut up and walk." Amon said, taking the bags from their hands.

Krut was much more humid than the city they had come from, and the warm breeze carried the scent of wet soil.

The trio walked out of the station and found a cab quite quickly.

Amon asked the driver to take them to the city center, and he agreed to do so for a lower price than the others.

As Amon sat with Ambrosia by his side, his gaze shifted outside the window.

’...There is something wrong with this place.’

He didn’t know what, but there was definitely something amiss.

Taking in a deep breath, Amon opened [Merchant’s Divine Insight].
