10,000x Rebate System: Every Return Makes Me Stronger
Chapter 58: Abnormal Dungeon [3]Amon kept hold of Seraphina’s hand as they continued deeper into the dungeon.
The strange heat beneath their feet had only grown stronger, and the once-frozen path was slowly changing with every step they took.
Large chunks of ice had begun melting from the bottom, turning into streams of water that flowed along the sides of the passage.
Seraphina looked at the melting walls with a puzzled expression. "What is happening to this place?"
Amon glanced at the ceiling before looking down at the water around their boots.
"I don’t know." He frowned slightly. "Maybe the dungeon is reacting to something."
Seraphina looked toward him. "Do you think that’s dangerous?"
"It could be." Amon continued walking while keeping his senses focused on their surroundings.
"Another possibility is that the dungeon is changing because of some kind of natural phenomenon."
Seraphina nodded slowly, but she still didn’t look convinced. "There is one thing I’m worried about."
"What?"
She glanced at the weakening walls around them. "Could the dungeon collapse?"
Amon thought about it for a moment before shaking his head.
"It shouldn’t be possible." He pointed toward the thick layers of ice supporting the passage. "Dungeons are supposed to repair themselves through their mana. Even if something damages them, the structure should eventually recover."
Seraphina looked at the water flowing beneath them. "Then why does this place feel like it’s dying?"
Amon didn’t immediately answer because that was exactly what bothered him.
The deeper they went, the more obvious the changes became.
The ice was disappearing, the temperature was rising, and the strange blue moss that had illuminated their path was beginning to wither.
Even stranger was the lack of monsters.
They had already traveled for quite some time without encountering anything.
Considering how quickly they had encountered the spider wolves and the giant spider earlier, the sudden silence felt unnatural.
"Have you noticed something?" Seraphina suddenly asked.
Amon nodded. "There aren’t many monsters."
"Exactly." She looked around the empty passage. "Shouldn’t there be more of them?"
Amon rubbed his chin. "Maybe they’re avoiding this area."
"Because of the heat?"
"That’s my guess."
Neither of them could be certain, but the explanation made sense.
If the dungeon’s environment was changing rapidly, monsters adapted to the cold might have already moved deeper into the dungeon.
They continued forward for nearly half an hour.
The silence eventually became so complete that Amon could hear their footsteps clearly against the wet stone.
Then he suddenly stopped, and Seraphina nearly walked into his back. "What happened?"
Amon raised one hand at the deep red he saw through Truthseeker’s Eye. "Something is ahead."
A low growl echoed through the passage.
A few seconds later, several creatures emerged from behind a large ice formation.
They resembled large wolves, but their bodies were covered in thick layers of pale blue fur.
Sharp icicles grew from their backs and tails, while their breath came out as white mist.
Seraphina raised her staff. "Icefang Wolves."
Amon nodded. "There are five."
The wolves immediately charged.
Amon stepped forward and swung his battle axe.
The first wolf tried to leap over the attack, but the axe caught its hind leg and sent it crashing into the wet ground.
Seraphina immediately followed with an ice lance.
FWOOSH!
The lance struck the second wolf directly in the chest.
However, instead of being frozen, the creature simply rolled across the ground before getting back up.
Amon frowned. ’They’re much weaker than the spider.’
He rushed forward and finished the injured wolf with his short sword.
Another wolf attacked from the side, and Amon blocked its claws with his axe before kicking it backward.
Seraphina raised her staff and released several small ice projectiles.
The attacks struck the creature one after another, finally forcing it onto the ground.
Amon moved in and finished it.
The remaining wolves tried to surround them, but their movements were sluggish.
The melting ice had made the ground unstable, and their bodies were clearly struggling with the increasing temperature.
Amon took advantage of the weakness and quickly cut down the remaining creatures.
After a few minutes, the cave became quiet again.
Seraphina lowered her staff and sighed. "That was easier."
Amon nodded. "They’re probably weakened by the environment."
He crouched beside one of the corpses and searched through the remains.
A small collection of loot had been left behind.
There were several Frostfangs, two small monster cores, and a strange white scale.
Amon activated Merchant’s Divine Insight.

Amon smiled slightly. ’...They could be sold for a good price.’
He collected the materials and placed them inside his spatial bracelet.
Seraphina occasionally glanced toward the melting walls. "I still don’t like this."
Amon stood up. "Neither do I."
Before they could continue, a tremendous sound suddenly echoed through the dungeon.
BOOOOOOM!
The ground shook beneath their feet.
Water splashed from the melting ice as chunks of the ceiling fell around them.
Seraphina immediately grabbed Amon’s arm. "What was that?"
Amon tightened his grip around his battle axe. "I don’t know."
Another deep rumble followed.
This time, it came from somewhere farther ahead.
Amon looked toward the dark passage and then turned toward her.
Seraphina hesitated for a moment before nodding.
The two hurried toward the source of the sound.
The passage gradually widened as they moved forward, and the temperature continued rising.
Eventually, they reached the end of the tunnel.
Amon stepped out first, and his eyes immediately widened.
The area ahead was enormous.
It was a wide open chamber that looked completely different from the rest of the dungeon.
Most of the ice covering the floor had collapsed, revealing a massive hole stretching across the center of the chamber.
Water from the melting ice flowed into the opening like countless small rivers.
Seraphina stepped beside Amon and stared down. "Where did this come from?"
Amon didn’t answer as he slowly approached the edge.
The collapse had revealed another area beneath the dungeon.
Far below them, faint golden light illuminated what appeared to be an enormous underground structure.
Stone pillars rose from the darkness, their surfaces covered with ancient symbols.
Amon’s Truthseeker’s Eye immediately activated.
His expression slowly turned grim. ’This isn’t part of the dungeon.’
Whatever was underneath them had been hidden beneath the ice for a very long time.
Seraphina looked toward him. "Amon?"
He remained silent for several seconds before finally pointing downward. "There’s something beneath this dungeon."
The two stood at the edge of the collapsed floor, staring into the newly revealed darkness.
Curious, Amon opened his Merchant’s Divine Insight, and information immediately appeared in front of his face.
