Amon’s gaze immediately swept across the chamber as he assessed the creatures surrounding them.

The first monster caught his attention because of its strange appearance.

It looked like a Frost Drake that had somehow been mixed with a giant frog.

It had a wide body covered in pale blue scales and powerful hind legs that could probably launch it several meters into the air.

Its mouth was enormous, and two rows of small, icy teeth lined its jaw while frost constantly escaped from its nostrils.

Beside it stood several strange creatures that resembled long-necked owls.

They were nearly one and a half meters tall, with large round eyes and narrow heads sitting at the end of unnaturally long necks.

Instead of wings, their arms ended in large hands made entirely of ice, and every movement produced a faint cracking sound.

Amon’s eyes finally settled on the last two creatures.

They looked like enormous snakes with thick white scales, but their necks ended in something completely unnatural.

A single head sat at the center while six smaller heads surrounded it like the petals of a flower.

Each of those heads opened and closed independently, revealing rows of thin teeth.

Amon’s expression became serious. ’This is a terrible combination.’

The creatures weren’t simply standing around randomly.

The Frost Drake remained in the center while the owl-like monsters spread around it, and the strange six-headed snakes positioned themselves farther behind.

They were surrounding Amon and Seraphina from several directions.

"They’re working together," Amon said quietly.

Seraphina tightened her grip around her staff. "I noticed."

"There are too many of them." Amon slowly raised his battle axe. "We need to be careful."

Seraphina glanced around before taking a small step backward.

The moment his words ended, the Frost Drake suddenly opened its enormous mouth.

A burst of freezing mist exploded from its throat.

Amon immediately grabbed Seraphina’s arm and pulled her sideways.

The frost swept across the ground where they had been standing, instantly covering the floor with a thick layer of ice.

Amon rushed forward.

The nearest long-necked owl raised both of its icy hands and swung them toward him.

Amon ducked underneath the first strike and blocked the second with his axe.

CLANG!

The impact sent a sharp vibration through his arms.

Amon twisted his body and kicked the creature backward before thrusting his sword toward its chest.

The owl moved its long neck strangely, causing the blade to miss its heart.

Amon frowned. ’Its neck gives it a ridiculous range of movement.’

Another creature suddenly attacked from behind.

Amon heard the sound of claws cutting through the air and immediately activated Spatial Steps.

The world around him distorted.

WHOOSH!

Amon disappeared from his position and reappeared several meters above the battlefield.

He had originally intended to appear beside the six-headed snake.

Instead, he appeared directly above one of the long-necked owls.

Amon grinned. "Close enough."

He rotated his body in midair and brought his battle axe down.

BOOM!

The axe slammed into the owl’s head with enough force to drive it into the frozen floor.

The creature struggled to stand, but Amon landed beside it and drove his sword through its chest.

The monster dissolved into particles of frost mana.

Amon immediately turned around.

The six-headed snake was already charging toward him.

Its six smaller heads opened simultaneously.

Six streams of freezing energy shot toward him from different angles.

Amon jumped backward while using his axe to deflect one attack.

The second passed above his shoulder, while the third struck the ground beneath his feet and froze the stone.

Amon barely escaped the remaining attacks. ’They can cover each other’s blind spots.’

He quickly understood the problem.

The monsters weren’t particularly powerful individually, but their cooperation made them much more dangerous.

He turned his head.

Two owl creatures had rushed toward her while the Frost Drake charged directly behind them.

Seraphina didn’t panic as she raised her staff and slammed its bottom against the ground.

A wall of ice erupted in front of her.

The first owl crashed into it, but the second climbed over it.

Seraphina immediately stepped backward and launched three ice lances.

They struck the monster’s chest and sent the creature crashing onto the ground.

She quickly followed with another spell before it could recover.

Amon smiled faintly. ’She’s handling herself.’

The six-headed snake attacked again, and Amon rushed toward it instead of retreating.

The monster’s central head snapped toward him while the six surrounding heads attacked from different directions.

Amon blocked one with his sword and ducked underneath another.

He swung his axe toward the creature’s body, but one of the smaller heads intercepted the blade.

CRACK!

The axe cut through its jaw, and the creature screamed and recoiled.

Amon immediately used Frost Spear.

A thick spear of ice formed beside him and shot forward.

It pierced through the wounded head and continued into the monster’s body.

The snake collapsed, life leaving its body.

Amon didn’t stop as he activated Spatial Steps again.

The strange distortion appeared around his body.

This time, he deliberately aimed above the Frost Drake.

WHOOSH!

He appeared directly above it, and the creature looked upward, clearly expecting him to attack from above.

Amon smiled. "Got you."

He didn’t attack immediately.

Amon used the momentum of his fall to kick the creature directly in the back.

The Frost Drake stumbled forward.

Amon landed behind it and buried his battle axe into its exposed side.

The creature roared and violently twisted its body.

Amon released the axe before he could be dragged along with it.

The Frost Drake’s tail swept across the chamber.

Amon jumped over it and retrieved his sword as the monster opened its mouth again.

Amon immediately knew what was coming.

"Seraphina!"

"I’ve got it!"

A massive ice wall formed between them as the Frost Drake released its freezing breath.

The attack collided with Seraphina’s barrier and spread across its surface.

Amon quickly sprinted across the frozen ground while the Frost Drake remained focused on Seraphina.

He grabbed his battle axe from the ground and rushed directly toward its exposed rear.

Amon jumped, and Spatial Steps activated once again.

The world distorted around him as he disappeared.

The Frost Drake looked around in confusion.

Amon appeared above its back.

This time, he had controlled the distance much better.

His axe came down.

CRACK!

The blade smashed through its thick scales, making the creature scream as it violently shook its body.

Amon held on for a moment before jumping away.

Seraphina immediately followed with a barrage of ice lances.

One after another, the projectiles struck the wounded Frost Drake.

The monster finally collapsed.

Its enormous body slammed against the ground before dissolving into pale blue particles.

Amon exhaled. "One more."

The creatures constantly attempted to surround them, but Amon had begun understanding their movements.

Every time an owl attacked him, he used the slippery ice beneath his feet to redirect its momentum.

When one attempted to grab him, he ducked beneath its arms and used the nearby ice pillars as cover.

Whenever the snakes attacked, Amon forced them to destroy their own surroundings by positioning himself behind frozen pillars.

Spatial Steps became particularly useful.

Amon repeatedly appeared above the creatures, and surprisingly, they fell for the trick almost every time.

He would disappear from their vision, reappear above them, and attack before they could properly react.

The technique was still difficult to control, but every use made him slightly better at understanding it.

Meanwhile, Seraphina stayed behind him and continuously fired spells.

Her ice lances pierced through weakened monsters while larger spells blocked attacks that Amon couldn’t avoid.

Eventually, the final owl collapsed, and the chamber became quiet.

Amon stood in the middle of the battlefield, breathing heavily while holding his axe.

Seraphina lowered her staff and wiped a few drops of sweat from her forehead. "That was much harder than the monsters before."

Amon nodded. "They were cooperating."

He looked around at the bodies disappearing into particles of mana.

Several streams of refined mana suddenly flowed toward the two of them.

Amon closed his eyes as the energy entered his body.

His mana furnace immediately began refining it.

A warm sensation spread through his limbs while his mana slowly increased.

Seraphina also took a deep breath as the energy entered her body.

When the process finished, several objects remained scattered across the ground.

Amon walked around and collected them.

He activated Merchant’s Divine Insight.

Amon’s eyes brightened slightly. "Pretty good."

After collecting the remaining materials, Seraphina looked toward the ancient wall.

"Should we check what’s inside?"

Amon followed her gaze.

The strange symbols were still glowing faintly beneath the thin layer of frost.

He activated Truthseeker’s Eye, and the world immediately changed.

Everything around him became covered in red.

Even the paths they had already walked through.

All of them glowed with the same ominous color.

Amon slowly turned his head toward one narrow passage farther ahead.

It was glowing green.

His eyes narrowed. ’That’s the only one.’

Seraphina noticed his expression.

"What did you see?"

Amon pointed toward the green path. "That way."

He tightened his grip around his battle axe and stepped forward.

"I’ll lead."

Seraphina nodded and followed him without hesitation.

The two entered the narrow passage together.
