10,000x Rebate System: Every Return Makes Me Stronger
Chapter 61: Caved Part [3]Amon took the lead as the two of them moved deeper into the hidden passage.
The narrow corridor slowly became wider as they walked.
The strange inscriptions that had only been faintly visible before became much more prominent.
They covered almost every section of the walls, stretching from the floor all the way toward the ceiling.
Amon slowed down as he passed beneath another cluster of them. ’These aren’t random.’
The inscriptions seemed to have been deliberately carved into the structure.
Some were made from deep grooves that glowed with a faint golden light, while others were so old that parts of them had almost disappeared beneath layers of stone.
Seraphina walked beside him and examined them carefully.
"Do you think they’re some kind of spell or seal?"
Amon glanced toward her. "Can you tell what they are?"
Seraphina shook her head slightly. "If I had to guess, they’re probably a series of runes used to create something."
She moved closer to the wall without touching it.
Runes have existed in our society for almost as long as dungeons have.
They’re used for magic formations, weapons, defensive barriers, contracts, even some household objects.
Amon looked at the symbols again.
These weren’t like the ordinary runes he had seen before.
Some of them looked like incomplete circles, while others resembled branches spreading from a central point.
There were also several symbols that appeared to overlap each other, creating complicated patterns that almost seemed alien when viewed from a distance.
"If they’re just runes, why are they here?"
Seraphina shrugged. "That’s what I’d like to know."
Amon narrowed his eyes.
He deactivated Truthseeker’s Eye and switched to Merchant’s Divine Insight.
The moment the skill activated, his expression went blank. ’...What?’
Numbers immediately appeared across his vision.
Everything, including some of the broken pieces of stone, was displaying a value.
Amon stared at the nearest wall.
---
[Ancient Rune Wall]
[Grade: Platinum]
[Actual Value: 4,800,000 Gold Coins]
[Description: An ancient section of rune-inscribed stone containing multiple interconnected magical sigils.]
[Use: Unknown]
---
Amon’s mouth twitched. "Four million eight hundred thousand?"
Seraphina turned toward him. "What?"
"Nothing."
Amon quickly looked at another section.
---
[Ancient Rune Sigil]
[Grade: Platinum]
[Actual Value: 780,000 Gold Coins]
[Description: A preserved magical sigil from an ancient civilization.]
[Use: Unknown]
---
His eyes widened even further. ’This entire place is a fucking treasure vault.’
He slowly looked around.
Every few meters, another part of the ancient structure revealed an absurd value.
Some of the smaller runes were worth hundreds of thousands of gold coins, while larger sections were worth millions.
Amon suddenly had an idea.
’If I buy a hammer and a chisel from the System...’
He imagined himself breaking off a piece of the wall and putting it inside his spatial bracelet.
’Would anyone even notice?’
His eyes shifted toward Seraphina.
She was still staring at the inscriptions with a thoughtful expression.
Amon immediately abandoned the idea.
’No.’
There was no way he could casually start smashing ancient walls in front of her without looking like a complete lunatic.
The chances of it creating a chain reaction weren’t low either.
He deactivated Merchant’s Divine Insight. ’I’ll figure out what this place is first.’
The two continued walking.
The passage remained strangely quiet, and aside from the occasional sound of their footsteps, there was almost nothing to hear.
After a while, Seraphina suddenly spoke. "So, what are you planning to do about college?"
Amon glanced at her. "College?"
"Your screening."
She smiled slightly. "You told me you wanted to go as soon as possible."
Amon nodded. "I do."
He had already spent enough time dealing with other problems.
Getting into college would give him access to more knowledge, stronger people, and potentially even better opportunities to improve himself.
"I want to get it over with as quickly as possible."
Seraphina tilted her head. "Do you know which college you want to attend?"
"The Royal University."
Her eyes immediately brightened.
"Really?"
Amon nodded. "Why the smile?"
"I have a recommendation letter for the Royal University."
Amon raised an eyebrow. "You do?"
Seraphina nodded happily. "My aunt helped me get it."
Her smile became wider as she looked at him. "If we’re both going there, then we can go together."
Amon smiled. "Sounds good."
Seraphina suddenly looked far more excited than before. "We can attend the same classes, train together, and explore the city after classes."
She even took a small hop as she walked beside him.
Amon let out a small chuckle. "You seem pretty happy about that."
"Of course I am."
Seraphina grinned from ear to ear.
Amon’s expression remained relaxed for another moment before his eyes suddenly became serious.
"Wait."
Seraphina stopped immediately. "What?"
Amon raised his battle axe slightly.
"I saw something."
Her smile disappeared. She immediately tightened her grip around her staff and looked ahead.
"What is it?"
"I don’t know yet."
Amon slowly moved forward.
The passage ahead had become wider, but the golden glow from the runes was becoming weaker.
The deeper darkness made it difficult to see what waited beyond it.
Amon took the lead while Seraphina followed closely behind. Neither of them spoke.
Their footsteps echoed through the ancient passage as they continued toward the end.
Several minutes later, the corridor suddenly opened.
Amon stepped forward and stopped as they entered an enormous chamber.
The ceiling was so high that it disappeared into darkness, while massive stone pillars surrounded the area.
Golden runes covered the floor in enormous circular patterns, and faint light flowed through them like blood moving through veins.
But that wasn’t what caught Amon’s attention.
Something stood at the center of the chamber. A small pillar rose from the floor.
Unlike the other structures, this pillar was completely transparent.
It looked almost like a gigantic piece of crystal.
And inside it...Someone was standing.
Amon slowly lowered his axe. Seraphina stepped beside him and stared at the figure.
The person trapped inside the pillar was a woman.
She had an utterly unreal beauty.
Her long, pale golden hair flowed down her back and rested around her shoulders, with several strands floating slightly as though suspended in water.
Her skin was pale and flawless, while her features were delicate enough to make her look like a statue carved by an impossibly skilled artist.
She had a slender figure with graceful proportions, yet there was still a strength in her posture.
She wore an ancient white robe that covered most of her body, its fabric decorated with faint golden patterns that resembled the runes surrounding the chamber.
Her eyes were closed, and she looked completely motionless.
As though she had been sleeping for centuries.
But there was one thing that immediately separated her from an ordinary human.
...Her ears.
They were long and pointed, extending noticeably beyond her pale golden hair.
Amon stared at her for several seconds.
His voice came out barely above a whisper.
"...An elf?"
