10x Rewards: Novel's Extra's Cultivation Stealing System
Chapter 176: The Phantom SirensThe battered Gu Clan disciples slowly marched through the thick, highly toxic green fog of the Miasma Woods.
Nobody spoke.
The only sounds were the squelching of muddy boots and the occasional groan from the injured disciples.
Every survivor looked exhausted.
Some had fresh bandages. Others still carried dried blood on their robes.
First the Slaughter Array had broken their spirits, then the Blood Fiend Demonic Sect Cultivators broke their bodies.
Unfortunately for Gu Chen...
His biggest headache wasn’t the array or the Blood Fiend Demonic Sect or the lead he just got.
It was Gu Fan.
This Young Master of his was suddenly stealing all his limelight.
Gu Chen’s supreme Righteous Dao heart was burning with frustration as he recalled the interrogation of the final Blood Fiend Demonic Sect survivor.
Flashback.
About half an hour earlier,
The heavily bleeding demonic cultivator had been kneeling in the mud, as he actively spilled everything to perfectly secure a painless death.
"Speak." Gu Chen stood in front of the Demonic Cultivator with his sword raised, "If you lie... I will cut you into a thousand pieces."
"I... I swear on my Dao Heart..." The demonic cultivator looked at Gu Fan and gulped, "We never stole the Emperor’s tribute."
Gu Chen frowned.
"You expect me to believe that?"
"It’s true! It wasn’t us!" the demonic disciple had cried out, violently coughing up thick black blood as Gu Chen pressed his silver sword directly against his throat, "We absolutely didn’t steal the Emperor’s tribute!"
"We were just actively paid by the Bai Clan to set up the Slaughter Array and butcher you all before you could try and get the tribute back!"
"If you didn’t steal the tribute, then who exactly did?!" Gu Chen had roared furiously, aggressively twisting his blade to actively draw a thin line of fresh blood from the man’s neck, "Does this mean there is another party involved? You were working with them?"
"No! We had no involvement with that. From the rumours I have heard..." The man began to reveal as he stole glances at Gu Fan through the corner of his eyes and saw him playing with a ring he had ripped off a dead corpse.
"It was actually the Phantom Sirens! They raided the transport convoy right before it even reached the valley borders!"
’Phantom Sirens? Who?’ Hearing this new name, Gu Fan stopped playing with the ring in his hand and began to search through his author’s knowledge, but he absolutely couldn’t remember writing a single thing about any ’Phantom Sirens’ in his original lore, ’Did I forget?’
’No... I wouldn’t. So either this is something entirely new that has spawned because of me, or this has to be from the vast lore that existed without me even writing about it.’
’System, who are these Phantom Sirens?’ Gu Fan turned to the System for answers.
[Ding! Since the Host completely derailed the original storyline, the world’s Heavenly Dao has actively heavily evolved to fill the massive plot holes.]
[The Phantom Sirens are a highly lethal, completely all-female elite assassination unit actively belonging to the Nether Orchid Demonic Sect.]
[They specialize in highly hypnotic sound-arts and brutal dual chain-blades, actively accepting any highly paying assassination or theft contracts.]
’An all-female evil sect?’ Gu Fan had smirked darkly in his mind, as his primal bloodlust violently flared with pure amusement. ’Now that sounds like an incredibly fun place to visit.’
"Where exactly are they hiding the tribute?!" Gu Chen had aggressively demanded, violently kicking the kneeling man directly in his open wound.
"The Weeping Gorge!" the demonic cultivator shrieked in absolute agony, violently pointing his trembling finger directly deeper into the foggy forest. "They are actively using the deep caves right past the black swamp to perfectly hide the stolen goods!"
"I swear on my Dao heart, I told you absolutely everything! Now please honor your promise."
"Give me a quick death."
Gu Chen nodded slowly.
"I keep my word."
But before Gu Chen could even pull his sword back to cleanly sever the man’s neck.
BOOM!
A leather boot suddenly descended from above, and The Blood Fiend disciple’s head exploded like a watermelon.
Blood.
Bone.
Brains.
Everything splashed across the mud, and Gu Chen froze in his spot with his sword still raised above his head.
Then he slowly looked sideways. Gu Fan casually lifted his boot.
"..."
"..."
"..."
Gu Chen finally exploded.
"GU FAN!"
"What in the heavens are you doing?!"
"I promised him a painless death!"
Gu Fan looked confused.
"I helped."
"You helped?!"
"You were taking forever."
"I was about to kill him!"
"You looked like you were preparing a speech."
Several disciples secretly lowered their heads.
One almost laughed.
Gu Chen pointed at the headless corpse
"What in the absolute heavens is wrong with you?!" Gu Chen roared furiously, violently jumping backward in pure disgust as he completely glared at his bastard brother.
"Relax! Brother Chen " Gu Fan simply casually wiped a massive splatter of thick blood completely off his dark robes, a deeply arrogant, highly cheeky smirk perfectly forming on his handsome face.
"His head was crushed before he could even think. How is that not a quick and perfectly painless death? A crushed brain means absolutely zero pain. A bit of a mess though."
Gu Chen had almost choked on his own blood.
But since he absolutely couldn’t refute the twisted logic without looking like a massive fool in front of the traumatized disciples, he had simply swallowed his burning anger and ordered the march toward the Weeping Gorge.
End of Flashback.
Now, actively marching through the deeply oppressive gloom, the thick green miasma aggressively began to swirl with a highly unnatural, completely chilling stillness, as the muddy ground beneath their feet slowly transitioned into a highly slippery, completely black swamp.
Gu Fan lazily walked right near the back of the formation, tossing a spirit stone up and down in his palm. And no one among the remaining Gu Clan disciples and even Gu Chen dared to ask him to walk in the front. No one could treat him like a meat shield any longer.
But exactly as they stepped nto a narrow clearing completely surrounded by massive, highly towering ancient trees, a deeply haunting, incredibly chilling sound actively echoed directly through the thick fog.
Giggle... Giggle...
The melodic, yet deeply sinister female laughter bounced off the heavy tree trunks, completely confusing the surviving Gu Clan disciples as their heavily eyes darted wildly around the dark canopy.
"What is that sound?!" a wounded disciple stammered in pure terror, aggressively gripping his blood-stained spear as a highly hypnotic, deeply dense wave of highly corrupted Qi actively washed directly over their battered defensive circle.
"...Ghosts?"
Gu Fan sighed at their ignorance.
"No."
"They’re women."
The disciple looked relieved.
"Oh."
Then he paused.
"...Wait."
The laughter suddenly became strangely pleasant.
Warm.
Gentle.
Comforting.
Several injured disciples relaxed.
One even smiled foolishly.
"They’re calling us..."
The haunting female laughter contained a deeply potent, highly hypnotic sound-art, because of which several of the heavily exhausted Spirit Realm disciples instantly dropped their weapons, their eyes glazing over with lust as they stumbled directly forward like mindless zombies.
"Wake up, you absolute fools!" Gu Chen roared instantly, circulating his Origin Realm Qi into his vocal cords to actively shatter the highly hypnotic sound-art, also slapping the nearest drooling disciple directly across his face to snap him out of the deep trance.
The absolute second Gu Chen broke the hypnotic spell, the thick canopy above them rustled, as exactly two dozen masked female assassins dropped directly straight down from the massive branches exactly like heavily falling shadows.
They were the Phantom Sirens, wearing completely skin-tight, highly revealing black leather outfits that perfectly accentuated their massive breasts and thick thighs.
But their highly beautiful, heavily seductive figures were completely contrasted by the deeply terrifying, highly jagged dual chain-blades clutched in their hands.
"Defensive ring!" Gu Chen screamed loudly at the absolute top of his lungs, pointing his glowing silver sword to actively command the chaotic battlefield, "Put the heavily wounded directly in the center, and actively brace for impact!"
But Gu Chen’s calculating mind was also working at lightning speed, formulating a plan to throw his his bastard brother under the bus once and for all.
He intentionally ordered the defensive ring to perfectly place himself and the most capable disciples right at the heavily protected rear, while intentionally leaving an opening perfectly directly in front of Gu Fan’s position.
Gu Chen completely actively funneled the absolute bulk of the highly lethal, completely masked female assassins directly toward Gu Fan, entirely hoping that the massive swarm of dual chain-blades would violently perfectly butcher the arrogant trash and completely save him the trouble of doing it himself.
"Hold the line, Junior Brother Gu Fan!" Gu Chen yelled from the safe backline, perfectly playing the role of a highly caring commander as he elegantly parried a single incoming chain.
"You must absolutely bravely hold the front to perfectly protect our injured brothers!"
"I believe in yourself!"
"Now only you need to believe in yourself!"
