Chapter 73: Millions Of Dragon Crystals

Amanda brought some snacks for the three of them and took the opportunity to get some crystals for sale.

The guild had a few more adventurers, Masaru had put up an advertisement saying that he was buying monster crystals at a higher price. He was not losing money, the energy company was willing to pay a higher price for the crystals.

Even though the company could not cut off the three of them’s power, they could charge the full amount of the electricity bill, and they knew the families would not have enough money to pay on time, so the late payment fee would be charged and, with that, the extra amount would quickly be paid back.

At least that was the plan, Masaru was not very confident, but the company had given him a large amount of gold coins so he could get the crystals as quickly as possible.

Moriyama Takumi was sitting in a presidential chair, he was very angry with Himura, but he could not do anything directly, his class was Legendary-level Electrician.

Because of that, he could only wait, since trying to confront a Mage was something he was not willing to do.

Himura was not only very strong, he was at a level that few people could deal with.

He stood up and walked around the office, he blamed himself for being an idiot and pausing the purchase of the crystals, the worst decision he could have made. But he still had some confidence that he could last through an entire night.

There was a damage control plan, most important services did not receive power directly, the hospitals had a generator that was powered independently. The company only sent the crystals and a hospital employee placed the crystals into a furnace.

The city’s three hospitals had enough crystals for five days of operation. So he was not worried about that. Even the police stations, prisons, and schools had a similar system. At first, everyone hated the idea, but thirty years ago, when a crystal crisis occurred, the company’s idea was considered intelligent and was therefore replicated in other cities of the Empire.

He was more worried about the darkness of the night, the monsters could launch a major attack when the walls lost electricity.

’Doesn’t Himura know about this?’

At night, it was much more difficult to defend, so he wanted it to at least become morning so that all the adventurers and soldiers could fight more easily.

"What? But when did this happen?"

Moriyama was on the phone with a guard. He did not know that Himura had installed an autonomous defense system.

If the power ran out, the stored crystals would be consumed to generate electricity and carry out the entire defense of the walls.

’So this is his plan?’

Masaru called him.

"Don’t worry, I just sent some crystals, soon I will send enough crystals for another week of energy," he said excitedly as he thought about all the money he would receive.

’A week of energy will last less than an hour with the current consumption, that’s very little time.’

Moriyama told him about the defense system.

"It makes sense, he wants an alternative way to get more money, although the people defending the wall can hunt monsters and use the crystals to power the system. Some companies may feel bothered by another power outage and start buying Himura’s crystals. But this plan has many problems. Since many adventurers can simply sell the crystals they obtain. But even so, it is a way to destroy some guilds that are almost bankrupt and make you go bankrupt."

Masaru was not sure if that was it, but it was what he thought was happening.

Moriyama believed his words and considered them to be true. But he also thought of Suzuki as someone who could benefit from this.

"I’ll look forward to the crystals," he said as he hung up.

Masaru began looking for all the crystals he had in stock, he turned off the potion machine, which at the moment was consuming the guild’s own crystals, since the magic crystals had been removed from the basement.

He put two orc crystals inside a furnace and then took all the crystals from the stock and put them into a magical package, he was willing to get rid of the entire stock at that moment in order to cause a little more financial loss to Himura.

Four hours had passed and Amanda had already gone twice to collect the crystals Mio was gathering.

"I’ve never seen so many expensive crystals in my entire life, how many gold coins do we have here?"

"More than five hundred million gold coins, it would be less if it were at the old price."

Masaru sat down, he thought about the number of coins he would obtain and the number of coins Himura would have to spend if he continued with the entire consumption.

"I don’t know if we’ll be able to sell all these crystals, how many are here?"

"Two million eight hundred thousand and fifty-seven thousand one hundred and forty-three dragon crystals."

"Are you sure about that amount?"

"Yes, I counted twice using the counting machine."

Kaede hated using the machine and so did Masaru, since it consumed a large amount of energy, but he had no choice, the amount was impossible for one person to count.

"I’m not sure if the company will buy this amount, but I’ll offer it."

"I’ll wrap some crystals and send them to the company now, this will give us more time."

"Do that, even though they have many hours because of the crystals I already sent them," Masaru said as he picked up the phone to call Moriyama.

Amanda left the room and began separating some crystals, she recorded the entire delivery in a spreadsheet and, in another one, she entered the amount of crystals that were still in stock.

Masaru could not contain his joy and, at the same time, his fear of not being able to sell everything.

"I have some bad news and some excellent news. The good news is that I managed to solve the problem of the three of them’s entire consumption, but the bad news is that I have a stock of a few million dragon crystals."

"Millions!!!"

"Exactly," Masaru quickly replied.

He heard no response.

"Hello, are you still there?"

No response.

He asked again and there was no response from the other side.

He asked one more time.

"I apologize, I need to hear that again, did you say millions of dragon crystals?"

"Exactly, I got many dragon crystals, my assistant will send some to you and then I need to know the demand to send more."

"All right, send them to me."

’These crystals are very energetic, each one can keep thousands of houses powered, how did he get so many?’

He still did not believe the number of crystals Masaru said he had, but he did not want to ask any more questions.

Himura was looking at the clock.

"Just a few more minutes and the entire city will be in darkness," he said excitedly.

Five minutes passed, everyone was celebrating.

Ten minutes passed, Himura was wondering when the lights would go out.

Half an hour passed, Shinozaki was already beginning to worry.

"I think I counted the amount of crystals incorrectly, soon the company will run out of crystals."

Two hours passed.

Tsukishiro stood up.

"Find out why these lights are still on."
