Shinomiya remained calm. He did not show any anger upon learning that Tsukishiro Kaito would be released. He accepted the decision and took advantage of it to make him look like the person who had exposed the entire scheme.
"Thank you for your work," he said as he opened the prison cell.
His tone of voice was careful so that everyone could hear.
A police officer arrived holding Suzuki, who also heard what Shinomiya said.
’What did he say?’
The three wondered the same thing. They were angry and directed all their anger at Tsukishiro.
Shinomiya took the day off and went to the electric company.
"When are you going to charge them?" he asked while drinking some tea.
Moriyama became thoughtful. He wanted to charge them immediately, but he had to follow the billing schedule.
"You can charge them whenever you want, but only add the fine when it is the proper time to charge them. They do not have the money to make the payment. I confiscated everything. I can delay the payment for a few days, and with that, you can add whatever fine you want," he said in a very calm tone.
Moriyama did not like the army, but at the same time, he did not show it out of fear of some kind of retaliation.
Ren and Aino were angry about their new job. They hated dungeons and hated bureaucratic work even more.
Kazuma wanted both of them to find some way to save Shinozaki. He wanted to keep Himura imprisoned, since that would make life easier for him and Shinozaki.
"There is no way. There is no way to save the two of them."
"But Tsukishiro managed to get out of prison," Aino said.
"Yes, but he has much more money and influence with the Emperor. He has something Shinozaki does not have."
"Respect?"
Kazuma heard the conversation, but he did not care about it. He did not like Shinozaki very much. He only liked the money she paid.
The two continued reading some paperwork without knowing exactly what they were supposed to look for.
Haru remained at the guild. He returned to the dungeon and began collecting materials again.
He obtained many materials in a very short time. Genda liked him since Haru was able to do the work without complaining.
"All right, I will make all these potions, but it will take me at least two days," he said with a wide smile as he looked at the materials. "I will buy those crystals you dropped, but I will only pay when I finish everything. Is that a problem?"
Haru had nothing against it. He did not care about the coins since there would only be a few.
[20 spins on the roulette!]
He looked at the notification and returned to the dungeon. He wanted to see what prizes he would get this time.
Genda granted Haru access.
He spun the roulette and received no prize. He left disappointed.
Genda looked at him but said nothing, only watching Haru leave the guild.
The receptionist at Bottomless considered Haru to be wasting that body, an attractive and very strong body.
The city seemed different. The air was denser, and he did not know how to interpret that as a buildup of mana.
An army vehicle was passing through the streets. Haru looked at the soldiers, who seemed not to care about him.
The vehicle stopped in front of a potion shop. The soldiers went inside and came out with a large box.
Haru passed in front of it and looked at the shop, which seemed very ordinary for selling something to the army.
Kazuma was on the other side of the street. He watched his son walk while taking some pictures of the vehicle.
Kazuma did not want to talk to Haru, although he was curious about his physique. He remembered his son being weak and having the body of an anemic person.
The army vehicle began to move, and Kazuma followed it. He was attentive to all of the vehicle’s movements.
Haru did not notice his father’s presence. He was more attentive to a female attendant who had large breasts.
Hina was angry with him since he had promised that he would stay home studying. She wanted to know where he had gone, but he did not reveal that he had gone to the Red Pleasure guild, since he knew she would not like hearing that and would become worried and perhaps a little jealous.
She insisted a little more, and he remained silent. She gave up, and he felt slightly relieved because of it.
The two were acting like a couple, but without the commitment and without knowing it.
Kazuma sent the photos and videos to Ren and Aino, who quickly printed everything and saved the videos to a disc.
He went to the walls and asked to meet with Shinomiya.
The general did not want to be bothered, but he quickly accepted the meeting when the guard mentioned his sister’s shop.
Kazuma had many more levels than Shinomiya, who was a novice general but came from a long line of soldiers, so Kazuma knew he was treading carefully.
"What do you want to talk about?"
"Just about a very good potion shop that I happened to find by accident," Kazuma said in an irritating tone.
Shinomiya wanted to crush his head, but he knew that if he did that, he would end up dying, and Kazuma would easily be able to escape for some time before being killed by the Shinomiya family, but dying was something he did not want.
Kazuma placed the photos on the table along with a disc.
Shinomiya looked at the photos.
"What exactly do you want?"
"Just for Shinozaki to be released and all the charges to be dropped."
Shinomiya swallowed and asked:
"Why do you work for her?"
"She pays well."
"Is that all?"
"That’s all."
"Then work for me."
"No."
Shinomiya became irritated.
"I understand. I can really understand what this is. You have some admiration for her."
"No, I simply have a contract and want her to be released. Ah, her account. I want you to unlock it, although you know that would not be a problem for her, right?"
"All right, but that matter dies here. If at any point you talk about this and I am penalized, know that you will be held responsible for it," he said with a smile.
But he knew that he was being defeated little by little.
He needed to find some way to keep the other two imprisoned, but he was becoming less confident that he could.
Shinozaki was sitting in the presidential chair in the office at the bank.
"Tsukishiro turned us in," she said to Kazuma and Hayato.
"It wasn’t him," Kazuma said. "The army was monitoring the excess mana in the city and identified that Moriyama’s company was releasing too much mana, and that was strange. They simply started investigating and reached you, since at no point did you take care to hide what you were doing.
"Actually, Himura tried to hide it, but his purchases were attracting the attention of some people, so everyone was considered a suspect and investigated. We just don’t know when the investigation began."
Shinozaki thought about it. She said nothing, only remaining curious about how they had reached her.
"Ah, I forgot that I gave some coins to Himura, but I gave them to him in a briefcase. That bastard must have done something to make the money traceable."
Kazuma knew that was not it. She moved a lot of money through her account and spent many coins at his guild. It was easy to find some connection.
"What do we do now?"
"Nothing. I’m almost broke. I need a way to recover all the money I spent. I did very well not to sign that contract. Himura and Tsukishiro lost much more money than I did, that is, if Suzuki manages to get out of prison.
"Himura definitely lost the most out of all of this," she said as she remembered the stock she had managed to steal from him.
"The sale will begin in a few months. We need to stay out of sight for a while."
"Can you sell some crystals?"
"I can, but it is better not to do that for now. We need to make everything return to normal so we stay out of suspicion."
"But I still think someone turned us in. That man seemed to know a lot about what we did. He was investigating everyone and discovered this by chance. That is more likely."
"He could be an information fisherman, or he may simply harbor some hatred toward people like you. We will never know, and it is better to forget about it. Thinking about things we have no control over would only make our situation worse."
She agreed with Kazuma, although she was still very curious about what had really happened.
"I saw Haru. He is different. You could have told me that he now looks like a real man," Kazuma said to Hayato as they entered the elevator.
"He is exactly as he was. Nothing has changed."
Kazuma showed him a picture of Haru.
"Does he look the same to you?"
"No."
Shinomiya was sitting and looking at the prisoners. He was feeling great satisfaction. Two days had passed, and no one was bothering him anymore to release the two.
Moriyama had already issued the charge for the energy consumption. Shinomiya could use Himura’s money to pay it, but he was delaying it so that the fine would become very high and Himura would lose everything.
A man in a suit entered Shinomiya’s room. He had two more stars on his medal than Shinomiya.
Shinomiya stood up and saluted the man.
The man began listing a series of crimes. Shinomiya recognized all of them. Then he read a pardon decree. Himura was free, but Suzuki would remain behind bars.
The marshal left with Himura. Shinomiya watched the scene while complaining silently.
