A Bug In Fate

Chapter 81: The Inter-City Tournament (02)

As the citizens of Ravenhold and the other four cities settled into their seats, the atmosphere was filled with excitement as people began shouting their city’s names at the top of their lungs.

"Ravenhold!"

"Redmont!"

"Windmare!"

"Greyhaven!"

"Blackwood!"

The cheers echoed throughout the massive arena, growing louder with every passing second as each city tried to drown out the voices of the others.

Some spectators stood on their seats while waving their hands in the air, while others raised banners bearing the names of their respective cities.

The excitement was almost overwhelming, and even those who had come simply to watch found themselves getting caught up in the atmosphere.

The five cities had come together for one reason.

To prove whose young generation was the strongest.

And today, thousands of people were ready to witness it.

Suddenly, two people walked toward the centre of the arena—a beautiful woman and a handsome man wearing red and blue robes. They were two of the five people who had been overseeing the verification process earlier.

The woman took out a device similar to a microphone and brought it closer to her mouth before speaking.

"Hello, everyone! Ladies and gentlemen, while the participants prepare themselves, we would like to introduce ourselves and answer some questions you might have."

Her eyes were brimming with energy as she spoke in high spirits.

She looked at the crowd first, who seemed confused, before continuing.

"First of all... we aren’t from this continent. Instead, the five of us here..." She gestured toward the other three overseers before continuing, "...came here from the Central Continent."

A wave of surprise swept over the crowd as they didn’t expect the Central Continent to be mentioned here.

"What did she just say?"

"They’re from the Central Continent? Why are they here?"

"No wonder their robes looked unfamiliar to me."

The woman on the ground waved her hand to silence the crowd as she spoke with a mischievous smile on her face.

"Now, please calm down... We are here to clear your doubts."

The crowd calmed down a little, even though some people still whispered to their friends.

"Don’t you find it strange that the city tournament, which was supposed to be just a single-city tournament, was suddenly changed to an inter-city tournament?"

People blinked their eyes. Of course, they had thought about it, but they hadn’t thought too deeply about it, as there wasn’t anything they could do even if they had known.

"That is because this year’s tournament isn’t organized by any noble house, but by the Central Continent. And, to be precise..."

She paused for a moment.

"The Nebulon Academy."

For a moment, silence filled the entire arena as the name Nebulon Academy echoed through the air.

The crowd seemed to freeze as people looked at each other with wide eyes, as if they weren’t sure whether they had heard it correctly.

"Isn’t that the best academy in the world?"

"I heard only high-ranking nobles can even take their entrance exam, and even then, they still have to pass it."

"Why would an academy like that organize a tournament here?"

"Wait... Does this mean the winner will get something from Nebulon Academy?"

The questions quickly spread through the crowd as people began whispering among themselves.

Nebulon Academy was considered the best academy in the UmberSoul World. Only talented people from the Central Continent were allowed to enter, while only some high-ranking families could send their children to take the entrance exam.

So why were they suddenly organizing a tournament?

The woman with the microphone waited for the crowd to calm down, her eyes brimming with mischief. She seemed to enjoy their reaction, as this was exactly what she had expected.

She smiled and began speaking.

"The reason Nebulon Academy is organizing this tournament is because there have been some changes to its rules."

"Previously, only people from the Central Continent and children from certain noble families from the continents were allowed to take its entrance exam, but..." She paused for a moment.

"That rule has been changed. Now, besides children from noble families, people with no special background can also take the entrance exam. And if they pass, they can study there."

The crowd’s reaction to the information wasn’t unexpected, as people began whispering with shocked expressions.

Meanwhile, the woman on the ground swept her gaze over them, and a mysterious smile appeared on her face.

"So, for the Northern Continent, the academy has reserved 10 seats for the entrance exam." She smiled, her eyes meeting theirs. "Some of you might not know, but similar tournaments are happening throughout the Human Empire at this moment."

She paused for a moment, allowing them to absorb the news.

"So, can anyone guess what the winner of this Inter-City Tournament will get?"

A smile full of amusement spread across her face.

Anyone with two brain cells could see what she was hinting at, but some of them weren’t ready to accept it.

Without waiting for the crowd to answer, the woman on the ground spoke in a loud voice.

"Yes... You are right. The winner will get..." She paused deliberately.

"The entrance exam recommendation letter!"

Even though people had already come to the same conclusion, they were still surprised, as they couldn’t help but wonder what it implied.

Didn’t that mean that someone from their city could actually have a chance of not just traveling to the Central Continent, but also studying at the best academy in the world?

"That’s it! Myra, you got it!"

"That’s fucking awesome!"

"Go, go, Windmare City!"

People began cheering for their cities in happiness, as they believed their city was the one getting the reward.

Meanwhile, some parents whose children were actually participating shouted even louder. This opportunity could change not only their lives, but also the future of the next generation.

"So, now you know what this tournament is and what the winner will receive." Her voice was amplified, allowing every person in the massive arena to hear her clearly.

She swept her gaze across the countless spectators before taking a deep breath.

A mischievous smile appeared on her face.

" Then...ARE YOU GUYS READY FOR THIS AWESOME TOURNAMENT?"

For a moment, the arena remained silent.

Then—

"YES! LET’S GO!"

"RAVENHOLD!"

"BLACKWOOD!"

"GREYHAVEN!"

"WINDMARE!"

"REDMONT!"

"Marcus, show them what Redmont can do!"

"Elara, you can do it!"

"Liam! Mina! Don’t disappoint us!"

All kinds of chants erupted throughout the arena as people shouted the names of their cities and favorite participants at the top of their lungs.

Some were waving banners, some were standing on their seats, while others were simply screaming until their voices became hoarse.

And among all that chaos, a small number of people had apparently become too excited.

"FUCK THIS TOURNAMENT...I AM IN LOVE WITH YOU!"

"MARRY ME !"

The woman on the stage blinked for a moment before a helpless smile appeared on her face.

The atmosphere had completely turned chaotic.

And the tournament hadn’t even started yet.
