Zyn lowered his head.

A pair of enormous fangs emerged from its jaws. The poisonous mist around its body thickened.

Aksai stepped forward and with his mental connection, he gave Zyn a target.

The Poison Wyvern’s enormous eyes narrowed.

Then it roared.

Varesh’s black Natal Sword released a faint Sword Cry in response.

In the next moment, Zyn spread its enormous wings and shot into the sky.

The Sword Light passed beneath its belly by a hair’s breadth.

Varesh’s expression remained cold.

His Sword Momentum surged.

VMMMM!

He stepped forward and transformed into Sword Light, chasing after Zyn.

But the moment he tried to rise into the air—

Hummm!

The triangular formation formed by Aksai, Jina, and Naisha trembled.

An invisible restriction descended upon Varesh.

His Sword Light slowed.

The space around him seemed to become heavy.

Varesh’s expression darkened.

Now he discovered another restriction.

This was a battle formation that Aksai had acquired from the Heavenly Poison Sect. Originally, this battle formation was supposed to be used for poison-type demon beasts that had extreme agility. Unless a poison that was potent enough to threaten the existence of a Nascent Soul appeared, Varesh basically didn’t need to worry about it. The effects of the poison were bare minimum and didn’t really diminish Varesh’s edge.

Although the draconic poison from Zyn still made Varesh a bit dizzy, with his Sword Body and Sword Mind Varesh could suppress the poison debuffs for the time being.

Zyn swooped down.

Its massive claws tore toward Varesh.

Varesh raised his sword.

He had no intention of relying on Zyn alone.

Six enormous figures emerged from the surrounding fog.

Six Woodland Bears landed heavily on the battlefield. They had evolved further ever since their last appearance (Chapter 744).

Each one was enormous.

They were roughly twice the size of an ordinary house, with thick limbs and broad bodies covered in layers of bark-like fur.

Their bodies weren’t simply muscular.

They were made for endurance.

Dense plant fibers reinforced their flesh, while wooden plates naturally formed beneath their fur, providing additional protection.

Their massive paws were capable of crushing boulders.

And their thick necks made them incredibly difficult to bring down.

Yet despite their enormous size, the Woodland Bears were surprisingly agile. They possessed an innate affinity for wood-element techniques.

Roots, vines, wooden barriers, and thorny growths could all be manipulated through their plant bloodlines. They could even communicate with the Demon Vines of the Devil’s Den to a limited extent.

Behind the six Woodland Bears came a sizable group of Woodland Boars.

These creatures looked somewhat similar to ordinary wild boars at first glance. But their appearance was fundamentally different from Aksai’s Red Golden Scale Boars.

The Red Golden Scale Boars had been evolved through the assistance of Golden Rebirth Fruits. Their bodies possessed red-golden scales, sturdy exoskeletons, and prominent horns.

However, the Woodland Boars were different.

They were the result of Aksai’s plant bloodline experiments. Their bodies were covered in rough, bark-like hide. They possessed no horns. They had no sturdy exoskeleton. Instead, their bodies were filled with dense wood-element vitality.

Their tusks were short but exceptionally hard, while wooden roots occasionally protruded from their limbs when they activated their bloodline abilities.

Their greatest strength wasn’t their physical defense. It was their ability to manipulate wood-element energy.

RUMBLE!

Several Woodland Boars stomped their hooves. Demon Vines immediately surged from the ground. The vines wrapped around their bodies before launching them forward like enormous slingshots.

The Woodland Boars charged.

Unlike the Red Golden Scale Boars, which relied primarily on their physical bodies, the Woodland Boars were essentially battlefield creatures designed specifically for Aksai’s Devil’s Den formation.

Varesh’s eyes narrowed.

Another group of demon beasts.

This crafty bastard... he is basically jack of all trades but master of none. Hmph!

He raised his Natal Sword.

"Come."

The first Woodland Bear charged.

Its enormous paw smashed downward.

Varesh casually stepped aside.

His sword flashed.

A deep wound appeared across the bear’s foreleg.

The Woodland Bear roared.

Before Varesh could follow up, several Demon Vines wrapped around its body and pulled it away.

Another Woodland Bear immediately replaced it.

Then another.

The Woodland Boars attacked from the sides.

At the same time, Zyn descended from above.

A poisonous mist spread across the battlefield.

For the first time since Zyn’s arrival, Varesh was truly surrounded.

The demon beasts coordinated surprisingly well.

The Woodland Bears acted as mobile fortresses while the Woodland Boars harassed Varesh from the ground.

The Demon Vines restricted his movements and Zyn attacked from the sky.

Varesh’s movements became increasingly constrained.

The triangular formation further amplified the restrictions.

For several breaths, he was genuinely contained.

Aksai’s eyes remained calm. He had already consumed a special high-grade Trifecta pill that helped him recover his Qi, Spirit, and Aether essences at the same time quickly.

Good. I... I only need a minute to recover enough Spirit essence. Just hold on for a minute.

Unfortunately, the stalemate didn’t last.

One Woodland Bear’s chest was torn open. Another lost a massive chunk of flesh from its shoulder. The third was forced backward.

The remaining Woodland Bears charged again.

Varesh took one step as his Sword Momentum erupted.

BOOM!

A high-intensity circular Sword Light thick in Sword Intent spread outward. As a result of which two Woodland Boars were instantly killed. The remaining beasts scattered.

But Varesh didn’t give them time to regroup.

He moved like a phantom.

One sword.

One strike.

One death.

The battlefield became a slaughterhouse.

The Woodland Bears’ enormous bodies gave them incredible endurance, but they couldn’t withstand Varesh’s Sword Intent indefinitely.

Their injuries accumulated.

Their regeneration couldn’t keep up.

The Demon Vines desperately moved around them, pulling severely injured beasts away from the battlefield.

They couldn’t stop the deaths but they prevented the wounded from being needlessly slaughtered.

Even so—

Two Woodland Bears died.

Five Woodland Boars fell beneath Varesh’s sword.

This was perhaps the heaviest price Aksai had to pay to take care of a single Lord so far. And the battle was still yet to end.

Aksai gritted his teeth and commanded his flying demon beast. Zyn obliged, descending on Varesh once more when he saw an opening.

ROOOAR!

Its enormous claws swept toward Varesh.

Varesh turned as if he was already expecting the draconic creature’s interference.

His Natal Sword flashed only once and in the next moment, blood splashed through the air.

Zyn released a painful cry.

Its massive wing had been cleanly severed.

BOOM!

The Poison Wyvern lost balance and crashed onto the battlefield.
