Chapter 619: Chapter 616: Someone Was With Her Just Now?

"Don’t worry about it." The bartender smiled. "To be honest, I wasn’t originally going to call you, even though it’s the middle of the night. The lady had a friend with her earlier, but when I looked again, the friend was gone.

I had no other choice, so I took her phone. I saw a missed call from you at the top of her call history, so I gave you a call."

"You’re saying someone was with her just now?" Clara Grant was confused. Sarah didn’t have many friends, let alone any she would go drinking with. ’And on top of that, Sarah didn’t even want to see me today. Who else could have possibly been by her side?’

"A man or a woman?" she asked.

"A woman. She ran into her when this lady was already pretty drunk. They even shared a drink and chatted for a bit. I thought the friend would take her home, but I was surprised when she just left later on."

Clara Grant thought for a moment. ’Someone she just ran into... It could have been a classmate.’

So she just nodded and said, "Oh, well, thank you."

Then, she turned to Seth Quinn. "Seth, give me a hand."

Seth Quinn came forward, and together they helped Sarah Shelby out.

Once they were in the car, Seth Quinn asked, "Where to?"

"Let’s go to Sarah’s apartment," Clara Grant said after a moment’s thought. ’There really wasn’t a better place to take her.’

Seth Quinn nodded, started the car, and drove off.

At Sarah’s apartment, Sarah Shelby was lying in bed while Clara Grant sat beside her, watching over her.

Sarah was a quiet drunk, thankfully. She didn’t cry, cause a scene, or act out. Aside from throwing up twice after they got back, she was completely passed out.

Seth Quinn saw Clara just sitting there in silence. He glanced at Sarah Shelby on the bed, then after a moment’s thought, he said, "Clara, why don’t we call Ewan Stratton? After all, Sarah is his wife now. He should be the one taking care of her."

But Clara Grant refused without a second thought. "Why would we call him? The whole reason Sarah asked him for one last day of freedom was so she wouldn’t have to spend this afternoon and evening with him. If we call him now, wouldn’t that go against her wishes?"

"I’m just worried you’ll get too tired," Seth Quinn said with a sigh. He had already guessed she would say no.

"Seth, don’t worry. I’ll take care of Sarah, and I’ll take care of myself. It’s getting late, you should go home and rest. You have work tomorrow."

"It’s okay, I’ll stay here with you." Seth Quinn placed a hand on her shoulder and gave it a gentle squeeze. "I’ll be in the living room. Just call me if you need anything. And if she seems alright, you should get some sleep too."

Clara Grant knew he wouldn’t feel comfortable leaving her alone, so she didn’t insist that he go home. She nodded and said, "Okay. In that case, you can get some sleep on the living room sofa."

Seth Quinn nodded in agreement. He glanced one more time at Sarah, then turned and went into the living room.

...

「The next day.」

Sarah Shelby opened her eyes and found herself lying in bed in her own apartment. For a moment, her mind was a complete blank.

The previous morning, she and Ewan Stratton had registered their marriage. She had asked him for one thing—one last day of freedom—and he had agreed.

After that, she had wandered around aimlessly for a long time before heading to a bar. She drank a lot, and then...

Her memory was a blur after that.

As Sarah Shelby was trying to recall what happened yesterday, she suddenly heard what sounded like voices outside. Startled, she sat up in bed. Wincing from her headache, she went to the door and opened it to see Clara Grant and Seth Quinn standing there.

She froze. ’What are they doing here?’
