A Night of Desire

Chapter 620 - 617: Is This Move Your Patent?

Chapter 620: Chapter 617: Is This Move Your Patent?

Clara spotted Sarah first and hurried over. "Sarah, you’re awake?" she asked with concern.

Sarah Shelby rubbed her splitting headache, wincing as she asked, "Clara, what are you two doing here?"

Clara’s first response was a worried question. "Is your head hurting a lot? Come sit down."

As she spoke, she helped Sarah over to the sofa. Sarah gave Seth Quinn an awkward smile and a nod in greeting. "President Quinn."

Seth Quinn nodded back in acknowledgment.

Once she was seated, Clara said reproachfully, "And you’re asking? You drank so much last night; it’d be a miracle if you didn’t have a headache. Luckily, the bartender was nice enough to call me when he saw you passed out by yourself. Seth and I went and brought you back."

Sarah looked a little sheepish and thanked Seth Quinn. "President Quinn, thank you. Sorry for all the trouble last night."

"Don’t mention it. You’re a friend of Clara’s," Seth Quinn said coolly.

Clara considered for a moment. ’There’s a lot to discuss, and Sarah probably won’t feel comfortable talking with Seth here.’

So, she said to Seth Quinn, "Seth, why don’t you head to the office? Sarah and I will go to campus in a bit."

Of course, Seth knew what she was thinking. He nodded. "All right, I’ll get going then. Call me when you’re done with your classes."

"Okay."

As Seth Quinn headed for the door, Sarah called out from behind, "Goodbye, President Quinn."

Once Seth had left, Clara turned back to Sarah. Seeing her friend rubbing her temples relentlessly, she felt a pang of both worry and heartache and couldn’t help but chide her. "Why’d you drink so much? Whatever the problem is, getting drunk won’t solve it."

Sarah shot her a look. "Tch, listen to you, being all preachy. Weren’t you the same way back then, drowning your sorrows anytime something went wrong? That’s why I’m telling you, sometimes booze is a gift. Once you’re drunk, you don’t have to think about a thing."

"Sarah, you and..." Clara trailed off, afraid of upsetting her by mentioning the marriage.

But Sarah finished the thought for her, completely unfazed. "Are you asking about me and Ewan Stratton getting our marriage certificate?"

Clara nodded. Sarah, however, just started joking. "Didn’t you pull this same stunt with Seth Quinn back in the day? Getting married not long after you met. What, do you two have a patent on it? Is no one else allowed to try it?"

Clara gave a bitter laugh. "How can you still be joking at a time like this!"

Sarah shrugged. "A time like what? All I did was get a marriage certificate. It’s not the end of the world. I wished you congratulations when you got married, you know. You haven’t wished me the same yet."

"But you don’t even want to marry Ewan Stratton. How could you possibly be happy?"

"You weren’t exactly thrilled to marry Seth Quinn back then either, were you? And you two are very happy now, aren’t you? So maybe Ewan Stratton and I could end up just like you. Even if I don’t like him now... when it comes to feelings, who can say for sure? Maybe I’ll start to like him after a while.

He’s handsome, his family background is decent, he’s just... disabled, that’s all. Oh, I just wonder if being disabled will affect his performance in bed. But hey, plenty of men in wheelchairs still get their wives pregnant and have kids, don’t they? Hmm, I’d better hurry up and test it out. If it doesn’t affect our sex life, then things would be even more perfect."

Clara didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at her friend’s monologue. "What on earth are you rambling about? I say one thing, and you go off on this whole tangent, right down to what happens in bed."
