Aidan.

I glanced over at the pale-looking Daniel, and the sight of him made the unease already twisting inside me tighten even further.

Every trace of color had drained from his face until his skin looked almost unnaturally white, giving him the appearance of a ghost standing beneath the cold light that illuminated the seclusion room.

His lips had parted ever so slightly, yet no words came out. They simply couldn’t. Raw, overwhelming confusion was carved into every line of his face, so stark and unguarded that it was impossible to mistake.

His brows remained tightly drawn together, his eyes unfocused as though his mind was desperately trying to piece together fragments of a puzzle that refused to fit. It was the expression of a man whose entire understanding of reality had just been violently shattered.

Seeing that look on Daniel’s face only sent my own thoughts spiraling faster.

My mind raced frantically, struggling to make sense of the nightmare unfolding before us. No matter how hard I searched for a logical explanation, I came up empty.

Who could possibly possess the audacity—the sheer, suicidal recklessness—to impersonate the Moonbridge Pack and carry out something so monstrous?

Such horrific, unspeakable atrocities weren’t crimes that could simply be committed on impulse. They demanded planning, precision, and a terrifying level of confidence.

Yet what disturbed me even more wasn’t merely that the devastating sin had been committed.

It was the chilling fact that it had been buried so deeply, so meticulously, that not a single whisper had escaped into the outside world. Not one rumor. Not one suspicion. Nothing. The entire horror had vanished without a trace, erased so completely that it was as though an entire pack had never drawn breath, never lived, and had never existed at all. Everything had been quietly swept beneath the rug, leaving behind only a silence that now felt far more terrifying than the truth itself.

Couldn’t this hidden atrocity have caused us to gain countless unknown enemies, operating in the shadows and plotting our ruin without us even knowing it?

But what on earth was the true agenda behind all of that cruelty?

Who benefited from pitting Daniel—and whoever was pulling his strings—against us?

"I guess this is enough proof," Davian said, his voice cold and decisive as he paced slowly around the perimeter of the stone room, his heavy steps echoing against the walls. "Now you can quietly pack up your men and leave the Moonbridge pack."

"No!" Daniel yelled immediately, his voice cracking with desperation as he clenched his fists tightly at his sides, his knuckles turning stark white. "I cannot leave just yet..." He paused, swallowing hard as he looked between the four of us with a sharp, burning intensity. "Give me three days!" he demanded suddenly.

I raised my brows up in complete confusion, staring at him as if he had lost his mind. "Three days for what?" I asked, narrowing my eyes.

"I need to reside in your pack for three days..." He paused again, taking a ragged breath to steady his voice. "...I need to do some proper investigation."

"And how on earth do you expect us to trust you and just let you freely stay in our territory?" Adrien asked, an explosive edge of annoyance lacing his tone as he stepped forward, glaring at Daniel. "You could easily turn around and betray us at any given time!"

"Exactly..." Damien chipped in immediately, his analytical eyes locking onto Daniel with heavy skepticism. "...Aside from the massive security risk, how exactly do you even intend to investigate it now?" He asked. "It’s been two whole years and every single trace and proof of existence would have been wiped completely clean a very long time ago."

"No!" Daniel said slowly, shaking his head in stubborn refusal as a shadow of profound grief fell over his pale face. "There has to be a trace left behind somewhere..." He paused, his throat bobbing as he raised his head to look at us with eyes that held a deep, unbearable hurt. "I still need to avenge my parents and my best friend," he added calmly, despite the fact that his swollen, bloodshot eyes threatened to overflow with tears at any given moment.

Davian chuckled softly, though there was no humor behind the sound. "Take your bitter quest for revenge back to your own territory, Daniel," he said with infuriating calm. "We still have an looming enemy to face, and a massive battle to prepare for!"

"I am well aware of it all!" Daniel said, his knuckles turning white as he clenched his fingers tighter, his restless hands betraying just how nervous and frayed his composure truly was and he drew in a ragged breath, his gaze hardening as he looked each of us in the eye. "And from everything I know so far... none of you will survive it!"

My heart skipped a beat immediately, a cold chill running down my spine.

How on earth could he sound so utterly sure that we wouldn’t survive what was coming?

Had he completely forgotten who we were?

The legendary, feared Alphas of the North—the four invincible warriors—that is exactly who we are!

We have weathered countless wars and decimated every force that ever dared to stand in our path. We would definitely survive anything thrown our way, no matter how dire the odds, as long as the four of us remained standing together.

"There is no need for you to worry your head about whether we suffer or not," Adrien said with a confident smugness, crossing his arms over his chest as he smirked at the broken man before us. "Just focus on taking your army and leaving our pack territory immediately."

Daniel remained completely silent, ignoring the taunt entirely as he slowly turned his head to glance back at the marked stone wall, his eyes tracing the carved dates of our agony once more. The room fell into a heavy, suffocating quiet until he finally turned back to face us.

"I need your help with something!" he said with absolute, unyielding seriousness, his voice echoing sharply against the stone.

His words hung heavily in the dim air, causing all of us to stare at him in complete, utterly puzzled silence, wondering what on earth he could possibly ask from the very men he had come to kill.
