A Warm Marriage After Rebirth

Chapter 104: The Bewitching Man

Chapter 104: Chapter 104: The Bewitching Man

"Fine," Terrence Grant said coldly, then turned and left.

"Seraphina Sterling, congratulations on graduating!" Hughes said, offering a rare smile.

"Thank you." Seraphina Sterling turned on her heel without a second thought. She needed to conserve her energy and prepare for the distinguished guest yet to arrive!

Terrence Grant stood on the second floor, watching Seraphina Sterling’s retreating figure. His sharp eyes were as deep and vast as the night sky—mysterious and inscrutable. Not even Hughes could guess what he was truly thinking at that moment.

Late that night, Seraphina Sterling was fast asleep when she suddenly felt a chill. The window was wide open. Ocean-blue curtains billowed wildly in the early winter wind, carrying threads of cold air into the room.

A silver-haired man was perched on the windowsill, his black trench coat fluttering in the breeze. Under the bright moonlight, he was inhumanly enchanting. With his pale blue eyes, he resembled a seductive fox demon.

Yet Seraphina Sterling was lost in a daze for only a second before her composure returned. "I never imagined king would grace me with his presence. Should I feel honored?"

The silver-haired man’s thin lips curled. "Even now, face to face, I find it hard to believe a little girl like you managed to escape my shot."

’It was one thing for him to be so handsome, but his voice was just as magnificent. How could a man be so perfect it made even a woman like her burn with envy?’ Seraphina Sterling arched a delicate brow. "And I’m sure you never expected that a ’little girl’ like me would actually manage to shoot you."

"Interesting." king vaulted down, landing in front of Seraphina Sterling. He flashed a faint smile, one that would drive any woman wild. "Your marksmanship and your instincts aren’t bad. I’m impressed."

But Seraphina Sterling had long been immune to such displays. It wasn’t that she had high standards or was good at masking her emotions; she simply had no interest. In her world, a man’s handsomeness was irrelevant. There were only two types of people: threats and non-threats.

"You didn’t come here this late at night just to compliment me, did you, king?"

"How un-charming." king shook his head, feigning regret. "That bracelet is a menace. No matter who you’re dealing with, get rid of it if you get the chance. Otherwise, you and your family will be in mortal danger." With that solemn warning, he left the way he came, and silence once again fell over the bedroom.

If not for the cold night wind and the fluttering curtains, Seraphina Sterling would have thought the entire thing had been a dream.

’What did that man mean by coming here in the middle of the night?’

’A threat?’

’A warning?’

’Or just a tip?’

Seraphina Sterling didn’t sleep a wink. ’What exactly is king up to? And this Jade Bracelet, what secret could it possibly hold? Why are so many people scrambling to get their hands on it? What am I supposed to do with this hot potato? Really just hand it over? But... Zion gave it to me. It holds a special meaning for me!’

All night long, Seraphina Sterling stared at the Jade Bracelet, trying to think of a perfect solution, but she came up empty.

The early winter sun was brilliant but offered no warmth. A sharp chill permeated the air, and you could see your breath cloud in front of you when you spoke.

Seraphina Sterling’s mind was consumed by the bracelet. She’d been dealing in antiques for over a decade, yet she couldn’t find anything unusual about this Jade Bracelet. From a professional standpoint, it was simply a bracelet carved from Ancient Jade. It wasn’t particularly old; at best, it was jadeite from the Early Dynasty.

Its intrinsic value was nowhere near enough to warrant such a fuss. ’Don’t tell me it’s like in the movies—the key to some legendary treasure?’

Seraphina Sterling was on edge all day. She had no idea if the woman from yesterday had relayed her message to her boss word-for-word, nor did she know what form their next move would take.

This feeling of facing the unknown, of having no control over anything, was the absolute worst.

It wasn’t until her evening study session ended that the phone hidden in Seraphina Sterling’s school uniform finally rang.

Summer glanced at Seraphina Sterling’s brand-new phone, no longer surprised by such things. Ever since Seraphina Sterling had given her fifty thousand dollars for her help, she was left with nothing but awestruck admiration for her.

’An encrypted number? Looks like these people are a big deal.’
