Chapter 154: Chapter 154: Making a Deal (3)

"How did you know who I was?"

"Was it that hard?" ’Actually, if the Sterling Family hadn’t worked with the Villet Group in her past life, she never would have known that Simon was the Villet Group’s young master!’

Simon: "..."

’Of course it was hard! His identity was a closely guarded secret; hardly anyone knew! If Seraphina Sterling had been the scion of some powerful family, he wouldn’t have been so shocked. But she was just a daughter abandoned by the Sterling Family, with no influential backing whatsoever. And yet, she somehow knew who he was!’

"If you agree to my proposal, then we’ll sign the contract. If you feel it’s not right for you, then just pretend I never said a thing." Seraphina Sterling had no desire to keep dwelling on the matter of his identity; it wouldn’t lead anywhere.

Simon shot Seraphina Sterling a resentful glance. ’Did you even give me a choice? I have to get that Jade Bracelet. I have no option but to accept!’

In the end, Simon was cornered and reluctantly handed over ten percent of the Villet Group’s shares. In return, however, he obtained the bargaining chip he needed to deal with Bosworth.

By the end of the exchange, Seraphina Sterling had emerged as the biggest winner!

Not only did Apex Collections make a name for itself at the event, but it also closed many deals. Many of the foreign students quietly placed orders, as it wasn’t convenient for them to take their purchases during the exchange.

Students from more prosperous regions also quietly purchased the pieces they had their eyes on.

Joel Xavier, being a shrewd operator, sold all the antiques purchased by the students at a twenty-percent discount. The initial plan had only been for Apex Collections to build its reputation at the exchange, not to actually make sales. This, it was safe to say, was a pleasant surprise.

After the event ended, Michelle Galloway and Crystal Marshall directly intercepted Seraphina Sterling.

"Were you behind today’s news? Starting this morning, waves of customers have been showing up at Serenity, demanding to have the antiques they bought re-appraised! It’s gotten to the point where Serenity can’t even conduct business normally! You have to compensate Serenity for all its losses!"

Because she had secretly swapped out decorations in Serenity Antiques for fakes, Michelle Galloway had been slapped hard across the face by Miles Galloway, and the red swelling on her cheek still hadn’t faded. Michelle Galloway blamed Seraphina Sterling for all of it.

Seraphina Sterling took a step back. "You hired the reporters. The reporters wrote the news. You bought the fakes. The TV stations and newspapers broadcast the story. If you want to settle a score and demand compensation, you should be going after them, right? What does any of this have to do with me? And you’re coming after me? Is there something wrong with your head? That’s the biggest joke I’ve ever heard!"

"Seraphina Sterling! If you hadn’t tried to steal the spotlight and point out on the spot that the Purple Clay Teapot was a fake, none of this would have happened! This is all your fault! It’s your fault!" Michelle Galloway shrieked like a madwoman.

Seraphina Sterling smiled warmly, looking utterly innocent. "If that’s what this is about, then you have even less reason to blame me. If your good friend Crystal Marshall hadn’t asked me to step in, I would never have stolen the show! If you have to blame someone, blame her."

Michelle Galloway turned her head in astonishment. "Crystal Marshall, why would you set me up like this! Why would you harm the Galloway Family! We’re relatives! I know you’ve always been jealous of me! Jealous that I dress better than you, jealous that I can buy whatever designer brands I want, jealous that I can get anything I desire! But I never thought you’d stab me in the back out of jealousy!"

Crystal Marshall was even more stunned. "Michelle, what are you talking about? How could I be that kind of person? You saw what the situation was like back there! Simon was being so aggressive, and you couldn’t handle him! I swallowed my pride and apologized to Seraphina Sterling, begging her to step in and deal with Simon for you. How could you think that of me?"
