A Warm Marriage After Rebirth

Chapter 157: Chapter 157: A Deal is Made (6)

Joel Xavier was overjoyed. The store’s sales had soared recently. The saying in the antiques trade is that you either go three years without a sale or make one sale that feeds you for three years. The constant stream of transactions made Joel Xavier ecstatic, even though the two of them had anticipated this all along.

The shop’s antiques were sold not just to collectors and investors, but more often to business owners looking to add a touch of class to their companies, or to people buying gifts. These clients lacked the expertise to appraise items themselves, so they could only choose well-known, large-scale establishments with clean reputations. Apex Collections fit the bill perfectly. With the Lunar New Year approaching, the number of gift-givers swelled, and so did the volume of sales.

However, the better business was, the more on edge Seraphina Sterling felt. The Galloway Family had suffered such a massive loss and taken such a spectacular fall; it was impossible they wouldn’t retaliate. She only had to look at what happened to the Sloan Family to know that.

The Sloan Family had succeeded in shutting down the Galloway Family’s Serenity Antiques, but their only son had gotten into a car accident and was still lying in the hospital’s intensive care unit. It didn’t take a genius to figure out this was Miles Galloway’s handiwork. How could it be such a coincidence? The Sloan Family had just won the commercial war, and their son immediately ends up in a car crash.

On the last day of the winter camp, the organizers did something special: they held a bonfire party and prepared a souvenir for every student who had participated in the exchange. They wanted a happy ending, to wrap up the event on a perfect note.

They were dragged back to Mount Cinder, though this time to the foot of the mountain instead of the summit. But a climb was still in order, because the so-called souvenirs were hidden somewhere on the mountain itself. Anyone out of shape was ready to start cursing. Their last trip up Mount Cinder had been absolute torture!

Seraphina Sterling really didn’t want to enter the mountain. ’The forest is so vast, it’s easy to hide... and a perfect place for violence to break out.’ But she had no choice.

"Seraphina, when you have time, you have to come visit me in Veridia! I’ll miss you so, so much!" Genevieve Churchill said, repeating herself for what felt like the thousandth time.

"I don’t know what you’re so worried about. If Seraphina doesn’t go see you, you can just come see her, problem solved!" Logan Grant shot her a look. He’d heard this so many times his ears were about to bleed.

"Grant’s right. Sanford will always welcome you!" Marshal said, his face fixed in its signature playful grin.

"Me coming to see Seraphina and Seraphina coming to see me in Veridia—how are those the same thing? You two boys wouldn’t get it!" Genevieve Churchill gave them a massive eye-roll.

Logan Grant and Marshal exchanged a look, then shook their heads in unison. ’They had no idea what the difference was. The end result was still the two of them meeting, right?’

"Let’s just hurry and find our souvenirs. The sooner we find them, the sooner we can leave," Seraphina Sterling said. ’I really don’t want to be here a second longer than I have to be!’

At first, the group stuck together. But before long, they drifted further and further apart until Seraphina Sterling was completely on her own.

Suddenly, the sounds of a fight broke out up ahead. Seraphina Sterling hurried toward them.

’Simon again! Why is it always him? Isn’t he supposed to be going home soon? Can’t he just keep a low profile for once! Last time it was four guys, but this time it’s a whole mob? Don’t tell me he ran away from his own wedding, getting this many people to chase him across the ocean.’

Seraphina Sterling had no intention of helping. ’The people surrounding him obviously aren’t using their full strength. Even their attacks avoid any vital spots. They clearly don’t want to hurt him, just restrain him. Since his life isn’t in danger, I can just stand back and enjoy the show.’
