Sensing Kimberly Jennings’s fury, Terrence Grant couldn’t help but feel his decision had been a wise one. He had waited until confirming Seraphina Sterling was out of danger before having Hughes pick her up. If Kimberly Jennings had arrived while her daughter was still undergoing emergency treatment, she likely would have wanted to stab him a few times to vent her anger.

"Ms. Jennings, as for why Seraphina was injured, I believe you know the reason better than I do. And as for why I was in her bed, it’s because I’ve already decided..."

"It’s because he’s been taking care of me for the past few days! Terrence Grant hasn’t slept for two days and two nights straight. He must have been exhausted, so he just fell asleep!" Kimberly Jennings’s brow furrowed, her calm gaze glinting with a wisdom born of experience. "Terrence Grant, do you have feelings for my Seraphina?" Her gentle voice carried an inescapable authority.
