Umar gulped.

"Yes, absolutely! From this day, I declare that it's my responsibility to oversee and guide the progress of the city of Kendru—"

"Cut the crap. I don't want you to interfere with the development of the city. I need to know the amount you are offering as compensation, and lastly, sign a protection agreement with the city for 200 years. That is, you will respond to any help call they make to you, as well as not even entertain the thought of conquering an inch of land that they try to expand within their area of around 5,000 kilometers."

Kaelion put his conditions forward, and Umar could only nod.

"Yes, I will do that."

He took a breath, thinking of an appropriate amount that would satisfy Kaelion.

"I-I am offering 5,000 Gold Coins as compensation, and I also agree to all of the conditions presented by Sir...?"

"Leon."

"Sir Leon, right."

Kaelion nodded and proceeded to bring out a couple of talismans, handing them to Vintage along with an identity token bearing a mark of a lion's head.

"This proves that from here on, the new City Lord of Kendru, Baron Vintage, is under my protection and that he has the right to oversee the way Milti City functions. He is allowed to report the details to me at any time, and in case any negative reports come to me, I have the power to come and investigate as well as pass proper judgement."

Vintage accepted them all with a deep bow.

That reminds me. I also need to get my identity tokens and these communication talismans crafted.

Leo added another thing to his list.

Though 5,000 Gold Coins weren't much in the grand scheme of things, it was a tremendous help for Kendru that would keep the city working for over 2 decades. Not to mention, Vintage was supposed to work on his own to progress the city, so 5,000 Gold Coins hit the sweet spot that was acceptable.

Now, the only 2 remaining troublesome people were Dama and Ramu.

"Have them turned into slaves and sent to Kendru as workforce."

Saying that, Kaelion raised his hand, and the Skyreaver started to descend.

People hurriedly made way for the large beast as it perched itself on the collapsed structure of the court.

Before leaving, Kaelion turned for the last time.

"If the Empire has recognized you, you need to uphold the expected behavior that comes with that recognition, or else it might not even take a day for everything you have built over the centuries to be snatched away."

Umar simply bowed in fear. Following him, all the soldiers and civilians present at the scene also bowed as Leo used wind manipulation to make everybody climb onto Skyreaver's back, after which the beast took off.

When they were finally out of sight, Umar venomously looked toward Dama and Ramu.

"Fucking idiots!"

Thud! Thud!

He kicked both vine bound men like footballs, sending them flying as they cried out in pain.

"Torture them to such a degree that all their pain receptors become numb. After that, call a priest to make them slaves and have these bastards sent to Kendru!"

Saying that, he stormed off, riding his own eagle back to his quarters to prepare the contracts and compensations that Kaelion had told him to arrange.

Meanwhile, on Skyreaver's back, James was in awe of Kaelion's performance.

"Leo, you never said he was a man with such authority and strength," he said, recalling the time when Kaelion had contacted that mysterious woman who obviously held huge power in the Empire.

Kaelion shook his head.

"Brother James, this bastard is actually stronger than me. I just happened to have more contacts and knowledge that made things easier for me. But the truth is, whatever I pulled off right now, it could be done by him too. He is simply unaware of many things because he is new to all of this."

James raised his brow in surprise and looked toward Leo in astonishment.

"What do you have that makes you stronger than the beast we're riding?" he asked.

Kaelion chuckled at that.

"It was actually thanks to Lily that I even have this beast. You can only imagine what sorts of beasts they have for themselves."

Leo scratched his head sheepishly.

"Well, some things happened after we left Kendru, haha."

"Some things? Really?" Kaelion repeated in amusement.

After that, they reached Kendru within a few hours. The evening sun was already setting, and after a collective decision, it was decided that Leo and the others would depart the next morning.

That night, a feast was held inside the castle where everybody enjoyed their time. Though Kaelion did notice Miho was quieter than usual.

By the next morning, Umar had sent all the necessary things right to the doorstep of the castle, with a priest present to complete the process of making Dama and Ramu Vintage's slaves.

The soldiers and guards stationed in the castle were shocked to see the same arrogant assholes now completely submissive and becoming slaves. It was then that they understood the capabilities of the special guests who had come 2 weeks before.

"Vintage, take care. I am sorry that I wasn't able to be a good lord for the city created by your ancestors. And that I am dumping all the problems on you," James said while holding Vintage's shoulder firmly.

Vintage shook his head.

"No, Lord James. It was my shortcomings that made me need to rely on strong and capable hands like you. I can never be more thankful that I have been made capable by our city's prodigies so that I can lift the unnecessary burden off you."

He then once again thanked Leo, Lily, and Kaelion for their work.

"You are still calling me Lord? From now on, you are a Lord, Lord Vintage."

Vintage shook his head.

"For me, you will always be my Lord, Lord James."

James and Vintage shared a firm handshake and bid each other goodbye, because there was no guarantee that they would ever meet again.

With that, Leo and the group, along with the 20 new people, sat on top of Thunderveil Skyreaver's maximum-expanded body, with a wingspan of 150 meters, and took off toward Thalor to directly get teleported inside the Aurelius Beast Academy and complete the necessary registration process for people from outside the Academy.

Since the beast's back was large enough to fit more than a couple of hundred people, it was very comfortable for the 25 people, giving the riders with no experience no fear of falling.

But of course, something new was always thrilling, so people were indeed nervous, including Sera, who was riding for the first time.

Turns out, James had plenty of experience with avian beast flight back when he was a drill instructor, so he was quite comfortable and held Sera firmly.

When they were about to reach Thalor, Leo calculated that the cost of teleportation from Thalor to the Academy for James and the other 20 people who were not from the Academy would be 2,400 Gold Coins; due to that, they ended up travelling all the way back on Skyreaver's back.

It was easy for the Spirit Beast due to the extremely low physical exertion and Lily supporting the flight with her wind magic.

When they reached the 30,000-kilometre area of the Aurelius Kingdom, their phones started to receive a flood of notifications after they received the signals back.
