Reina Voss occupied a small space in Mylo’s memory.

She would do her own work separately, rarely interacting with other students. But her grades never really stood out to him. She was neither amongst the top nor among the bottom.

He had no particular strong impression of this meek girl.

But that wasn’t a bad thing. Since it meant she wasn’t a bad person or troublemaker either.

Braden’s jaw dropped, his grip on Mylo’s collar loosening slightly as the weight of the crowd’s shouting pressed down on him.

She put her hands firmly on Braden’s broad shoulders, pulling him back.

"Braden, let’s go. Leave it for now," Vanessa hissed, her eyes darting nervously toward the end of the hall where a faculty member might appear at any second. "We’ll get back at them later. Let’s just go."

Braden gritted his teeth so hard a loud pop echoed from his jaw.

He stared at Mylo, his eyes promising a slow, painful death.

With a violent shove, he let go, sending Mylo stumbling back.

"You aren’t getting away with this, Zane," Braden warned, pointing a shaking, angry finger at him. "Prepare yourself. This isn’t over."

With a furious huff, Braden turned back and marched down the hallway, Vanessa rushing to keep up with his angry, stomping strides.

As the crowd slowly began to disperse, whispering and looking back at them with lingering curiosity, Mylo stood there, trying to catch his breath.

His heart was pounding, but beneath the adrenaline, a strange, intoxicating emotion was blooming in his chest.

This... this was a half-assed attempt.

I didn’t even humiliate him properly.

He realized his feet were moving away from the crowd. No, he was being dragged away from them!

Reina Voss was still right there.

The girl who had supported him just now despite her shortcomings.

Her fingers were still tightly interlocked with his, her small, warm hand pulling him forward through the corridors.

He wanted to quickly break-free and inquire about this situation but her small hand held him tightly.

He couldn’t see her face from behind but was able to tell that he was not going to be allowed to go unless this somewhat stubborn girl reached her destination.

She walked with a quiet, determined pace, her messy bun swaying slightly as she led him away from the busy hallway, deeper into the quiet, less-traveled premises of the college.

They finally stopped in a secluded, dusty courtyard behind the old campus building, completely shielded from the eyes of the other students.

Mylo finally getting the chance to ask was about to speak out but just then,

A bloody red screen popped up.
