Chapter 30: 30.End of Residency quest-1

Mylo was sitting in an old chair, writing on paper supported by a worn-out study table.

He was still inside the cave, where only shades of black and red existed.

A lamp containing a stone that glowed with a bright, pale red light served as his source of illumination.

Mylo rested his chin on his hand as he stared at the stone. He had finished writing down everything Meena had told him.

That was one hell of an experience with her. It was similar to how I remember meeting Vespara.

Both of them brought nothing but crazy phenomena to me.

He brushed his hair back and leaned into the old chair.

Slave of pleasure, huh? I don’t even know what to think about that.

He had spent some time going through papers that the lunatic had stored in the cave, but none of them contained things he truly understood.

Even the writing was barely readable. He recognized it as an old style of written English, difficult to decipher due to its overly exaggerated curves and obscure vocabulary.

Still, all of it had brought him a few crucial pieces of information. The most important being the truth about the sins.

Apparently, there are eleven sins.

His was the Sin of Pleasure, and the lunatic’s Sin of Hunger were two of them.

Narak worked on the basis of these eleven sins.

His power, provided by the Vespara, meant he was tied to Pleasure.

That explains why the system made me do those kinds of things to Reina, and why I always felt those weird feelings whenever something happened.

I practice the Sin of Pleasure, after all. It’s pretty obvious I’ll be affected by sexual desire. But anyway...

He began to shift his thoughts in another direction.

"I am currently in the Ashgate, one of the seven realms of Narak. When I think about it, the seven realms can be compared to the seven continents of Earth. That way, it makes it easier to understand."

He then picked up a book and flipped through it.

That bastard, he was really crazy.

In the book, it was mentioned that the forest he was currently in was the Forest of No Shade. It was essentially grown and maintained by the lunatic himself as part of an experiment.

He had wanted see the unseen, find that didn’t existed. He tried to build an area full of hunger, sacrificing high amount of pran.

But it didn’t work and exploded in unexplained configuration, resulting in everything consumed by unknown curse.

That was the sole reason why this entire forest, and even this cave, lacked any color other than black and red.

’’Just what was wrong with him?" Mylo muttered as he looked over at the rest of the books resting on wooden shelves. He shook his head in annoyance.

There’s no way I can read all of that now. I’ll search through them later. My first priority should be planning my immediate action.

He turned his chair toward the other side and spoke in his mind.

The bloody status screen showed his stats, along with other details that were previously locked off.

Looking at the high number of EXP Mylo happy thought to himself:

The lunatic was injured by Meena, but the final blow was delivered by me.

That must have given me a huge amount of XP.

I can’t believe something I did while feeling completely disgusted helped me this much.

But anyway, this is looking a little better than before.

My normal stats have risen. Not only that, but my title and name are showing now, too.

Although Mylo knew his stats were still low, the gains compared to the amount of effort he had put in were incredible.

Not only could he see more details, but he could also get a better explanation of his stats and abilities, such as Pleasure.

As the name suggested, Pleasure could suddenly induce sexual desire in a target. Guiding host to most vulnerable part of target.

Mylo had successfully used it as a distraction against both the Vexfang and the lunatic.

Another stat was Influence, which determined how easily his words would be accepted by another party.

The higher the value, the better his chances of convincing anyone.

Charisma, just as it sounded, was an attraction stat. The higher the value, the more charismatic Mylo would appear in the eyes of others.

But the final thing added to the bottom was Pran.

The explanation given by the system was that Pran was the existential energy present in all matter.

Mylo guessed it worked similarly to the mana or ki he had encountered countless times in games and movies.

However, something else caught his attention.

Even though Charisma, Pleasure, and Influence act like skills, they aren’t listed under the skill section.

Does that mean they’re an inherent part of me?

There was another section specifically named Skills. Under it, two skills were listed, both requiring 10 Pran to activate.

Of course, Mylo’s Pran was only 5, so he wouldn’t be able to use them yet. Still, he analyzed them.

Sensory Numb sounds like an amazing skill. It would help me contain my fear and keep my composure.

Bliss Drain looks even better when it thinking about fighting opponents.

Draining their life and using it to heal myself while also slowing them down. If I could increase it’s level then it will become really helpful skill.

With that, he moved on to check the remaining sections.

The Store section was still locked, requiring a higher level to access.

Below that were his quest completion numbers, and at the very bottom was something that made him truly happy.

’’At least it’s there," he muttered to himself enthusiastically.

"I can go home by selecting earth,right?"

Right now, he was in Narak, but the destination menu clearly listed Earth.

If he selected it, he assumed he would be transported back home.

There was a Swarg option as well, but it was currently unavailable due to a lack of routes. Mylo didn’t dwell on it too much.

Standing up and stretching his limbs, his thought focused on his future steps.

Like Meena said, I’m too weak. I need to get stronger, and this Satan system is the only thing that can help me with that.

Daily quests are my best way to level up right now, so I’ll focus on them.

After completing two more I should get weekly quest, wonder how it will be.I just hope it doesn’t make me do too many weird things.

As for the cave, he wasn’t sure how safe it truly was, the lunatic had mentioned in his notes that this place was part of a secret experiment.

After his work leaked and corrupted the surrounding forest, he was banished from the university where he taught, and his family cut all ties with him.

The forest was handed over as his punishment, he was forced to guard it and ensure the curse didn’t spread beyond its borders.

That could actually work to my advantage,Mylo realized. The lunatic was disowned, and this forest is his prison. Logically speaking, no one should be coming here.

As for Vexfangs, well... handling mindless monsters should be easy, even my unprepared, scared-to-soul self was able to kill one.

With that thought comforting him, Mylo shifted his attention toward the other girl trapped inside the iron cage.
