Absolute Loser Becomes The Pleasure King Using Satan System
Chapter 43.Channels through heart-1Chapter 43: 43.Channels through heart-1
The city of Mirage could basically be divided into three sections based on their level of development.
Mylo was currently walking through the intersection area of downtown.
Slipping past dirty alleys scattered with a few homeless people here and there, he exited through a comparatively wider intersection, arriving at the foot of the Club of Ladders.
Should I really be feeling nostalgic even though I’m visiting this club in, what effectively is, past? Well... I would certainly love to burn this building to the ground.
There were a couple of scarred men standing guard in front of the door.
As they stepped up to block the approaching Mylo, he slipped them a few dollars. Without any further resistance, they stepped aside, and he made his way inside.
Inside, the atmosphere was a stark contrast to the gloomy alleys outside. Rainbow lights flashed as the revelry reached its peak. Some patrons were placing bets on board games at scattered tables, while a crowd of young adults danced under the thumping, high-intensity music.
Mylo pinched his nose as the familiar, stifling scent of sweat and cheap alcohol washed over him.
Keeping his face covered, he slipped toward the corner of the bar counter.
His eyes knowingly wandered to the opposite end of the room, where a powdered substance was being mixed into a cup before being handed to a woman who had just stumbled off the dance floor.
Shaking his head, he tapped the counter to catch the bartender’s attention. The man working the bar was an older fellow, dressed in a rather scruffy outfit.
"Get me whatever’s standard on the block," Mylo ordered hurriedly.
Gando, he should be the manager of club... looks like he still hasn’t been promoted.
It took less than thirty seconds for his drink to arrive. Sipping it slowly, his gaze drifted back to the woman. Her steps had grown clumsy, and a guy was now steadying her, leading her toward the lounge area.
Finishing his drink, Mylo set the glass down with a heavy thud.
The bartender looked over at him, pushing off the stool he was leaning on.
"I need Embryo Tea. Come on, please... I can’t take it anymore," Mylo pleaded, making his voice sound desperate, like someone suffering from severe withdrawal.
"We don’t serve anything like that here," the bartender dismissed him flatly, reaching out to grab the empty glass. "Pay up and get lost."
"Hey, hey, come on, listen to me. Look at me," Mylo insisted, leaning over the bar.
Annoyed by his persistence, the bartender finally met his eyes. Mylo quickly flashed three specific hand signs.
Seeing them, the cranky old bartender’s eyes flicked with recognition.
Without a word, he slid a half-open ledger across the counter. Mylo casually slipped a few green notes between the pages, prompting the bartender to give a subtle nod toward a door near the back.
The bouncer guarding the door caught the bartender’s signal.
Still playing the part of an impatient addict, Mylo pushed himself off his stool and hurriedly strode through the doorway.
I guess things aren’t going to change that much from what I know. If that’s the case, then I can move forward and investigate deeper.
Things were going smoothly, much better than he had expected.
Exiting the dim corridor, he emerged into an open-air courtyard enclosed only by crumbling, filthy brick walls.
Walking further into the space, he came across two men sitting atop overturned oil drums, sipping beer and playing games on their phones.
Seeing him approach, they set their phones down. The one with a thinning bald spot stood up and sauntered over.
"Hey, hey, kid... don’t you know covering your face around here is the biggest ’fuck me up’ sign you can give?" With a flick of his middle finger, he pulled Mylo’s bandana down. "So, what are you after?"
Mylo caught a flash of the man’s stained, yellowing teeth as a wave of foul breath hit his face.
"I, uh, I’m here for Embryo Tea," Mylo stammered, keeping up his act.
"Oh, ho! You know about the good stuff, huh?" The man grinned. "How’d a kid like you hear about it?"
"I just... I heard about it from my friends."
"Well, you must have some rich-ass friends."
The second man tossed over a small pouch filled with a deep blue, powdery substance.
"Now, empty out those pockets of yours, huh?"
Mylo frowned as he looked at the pouch in his palm. "Hey... this, this isn’t what I asked for."
"I asked for Embryo Tea," Mylo said, his voice trembling on cue. "It should be light blue... almost like a gift from God."
"We gave you the right one. You understand?" the bald man sneered, his eyes narrowing.
"No, no, no, no! I don’t want this. I don’t want this!" Mylo stammered, pulling back.
"I want the real one. Why can’t you just give me that one? I’m giving you money-whatever you want! Just give me the pristine Embryo Tea!"
He dialed up the intensity of his act, painting himself as an utterly desperate addict on the verge of a breakdown.
The bald man clicked his tongue in annoyance and snatched the pouch back.
"If you want the top-shelf stuff, go on ahead." He gestured deeper into the maze of decaying walls. "But hey... you gotta pay the toll first."
Mylo blinked, playing dumb. "Huh? Toll? But I haven’t even taken anything from you yet!"
"That’s just the rule, kid. Now come on, hand over the green."
Looking at them anxiously, Mylo pulled three bills from his pocket and offered them.
But just as the bald man reached out, Mylo yanked his hand back at the last second.
"In exchange... give me that chocolate," he bargained, pointing toward an unopened chocolate bar sitting on one of the oil drums.
Confused for a brief second, the second man burst out laughing and tossed the bar to him.
"Here you go, bady! Go on, baby, lick it all you want. Daddy isn’t gonna refuse a sweet tooth."
Both men shared a crude laugh as Mylo quickly pocketed the chocolate, left the open-air courtyard behind, and ducked into crumbling hallway ahead.
Walking along the narrow, open corridor, Mylo entered another room.
Sitting inside the dilapidated space was a man wearing a flat cap, suspenders over a faded yellow t-shirt, and a dark gaze. His bronze skin gleamed with a sheen of sweat, and his sharp, golden eyes locked onto Mylo the second he crossed the threshold.
"Hello... I’m looking for Embryo Tea," Mylo stammered out. "Do you have it?"
I’ve never seen this guy before, does he not work here in the future?
Without a word, the man nodded and stood up. He walked over to a stack of oil drums, plunged his hand into a hidden gap, and pulled out a small packet filled with a shimmering, crystal-sapphire blue powder.
Mylo immediately forced an ugly, ravenous grin onto his face, playing his role to perfection. "Ha... yes! Yes, that’s it—that’s the one! Give it to me!"
"Ten-gram package," the man said, his deep voice cutting through the quiet as he sat back down and crossed his left leg over his right. "Two hundred bucks. Pay up, or get out before I cave your ugly face in."
Despite his desperate act, Mylo felt a sharp pang in his chest. He had brought plenty of cash knowing he’d need to spend it, but watching his funds bleed away like this still hurt.
"Of course, of course! I have it!" Mylo babbled frantically. Pulling out his remaining stash of cash, he counted out the bills with trembling hands and shoved them toward the bronze-skinned man.
The man’s golden eyes tracked the notes as he tossed the packet into the air. Mylo caught it with an awkward, stumbling fumble, looking every bit the pathetic addict.
"Now get lost before someone stabs you in an alley and takes it off your corpse," the man muttered, pocketing the money.
Mylo turned to leave, casting one last, calculating glance at the stranger he had no record of in his memories.
Just as he reached the threshold, a massive shadow suddenly loomed over him!
