Chapter 4: 4.Hearts that share fears-1

Mylo’s mother locked her hands around her husband. ’’Honey, don’t you think our Mylo was acting very strange?’’ She asked her husband in a soft intimate tone.

’’Yeah. Well, he is beginning a new Chapter of life, he must be a little confused and scared. Give him some time, he will become a much stronger person,’’ he was clearly talking about mental might.

’’Still... Did you see how much he was eating at lunch today? Even though he had a good breakfast. Maybe I should have cooked more for tomorrow too, not just dinner.’’

’’Hmm, we have booked the mess but well... It’s going to take him some time to get used to it. He can eventually learn to cook himself. You should talk to him next time’’ finished with every process, they made their way towards the plane.

’’It’s going to be hard for him to get used to the mess, I also worry about his health. Yes, remember! Wasn’t there a woman who was working there and looking for more jobs? We can hire her to take care of Mylo,’’ she suggested enthusiastically, almost like a young girl.

’’Uh...I think you are moving too fast, my honey. Hiring her is gonna cost...hmm! I mean we don’t even know if she is actually capable enough or not, we should not decide that early,’’

’’Honey~ you are not worrying about money are youuuu?’’ her smile betrayed the tight grip around dad’s hand.

He coughed two times and replied quickly ’’N-no! Of course not! I was just needlessly worried. What I meant was that we should wait a day before calling her, yo-you know Mylo has his induction starting this evening, right! I was going to talk to her tomorrow, I will get the number from mess manager!’’

’’Oh,I see. Then it’s fixed. Also let’s make sure to visit at least once a month,’’ her bad mood went away as though it was just a lightning strike. Their plane was about to take off.

.

.

Mylo stood out in the open, breathing in the fresh air of the vast terrace.

His flat wasn’t a typical apartment. It was perched right on top of a massive nine-story building.

The place was modest but complete. It had a living room, a bedroom, a kitchen, and a small guest room.

Even with all those rooms, his flat only occupied a fifth of the total rooftop.

The rest was just pure, open space. A massive concrete courtyard in the sky, completely secured by a five-foot steel barrier running along the edges.

Best of all, he was the only resident up here.

That meant he had absolute privacy. He basically owned the entire rooftop. Up here, away from the world, he could do whatever he wanted.

That’s what he had thought.

At least, that was his plan when he originally chose this apartment.

But a dark, bitter memory flashed across his mind.

In his past life, this private sanctuary hadn’t stayed private for long. His bullies had eventually found out about it.

They turned his haven into their own personal hangout. They would bring cheap beer up here, throw parties, and force Mylo to clean up their vomit and trash. It was the place where they cornered him, laughing as they blew smoke into his face and mocked his very existence.

Mylo shook his head violently, forcing the vile memories back into the dark corners of his brain.

Not this time.

He took a deep, steadying breath. It was time to look at the card he had been dealt.

"Status," he muttered under his breath.

Instantly, the world seemed to lose its color. A vibrant, blood-red holographic window materialized in front of him, pulsing with a faint, neon-pink haze.

The background looked like a thin sheet of liquid blood, entirely clean yet deeply unsettling.

.....

[THE SATAN SYSTEM]

Host: Mylo Zane

Level: F (1)

EXP: [=------------------------------]

[STATS]

Strength: 4

Stamina: 3

Agility: 4

Charisma: 2

Influence: 1

Pleasure: 5

.....

Mylo stared at the numbers. He couldn’t help but let out a self-deprecating scoff.

"Basic stats of a complete loser," he muttered.

An average, healthy human male usually averaged around ten in physical categories. His stats were practically in the dirt. The only outlier was Pleasure, which sat at a five, undoubtedly a parting gift from Lilithia Vespara.

Below his stats, a few text boxes expanded.

The system explained itself with cold, brutal efficiency. His level and stats would increase upon completing quests.

There were standard Daily Quests. Completing four daily quests would unlock a Weekly Quest. Completing two weekly quests would unlock a Massive Monthly Quest.

Mylo scrolled lower, but his fingers hit a dead end.

Several large sections of the menu were completely greyed out. Padlock icons pulsed ominously over them. No information. No hints. Just total censorship.

A small footnote at the bottom caught his eye: [Hidden Quests may trigger automatically based on the Host’s actions and environment.]

Before he could process the hidden quest mechanic, the blood-red screen suddenly flashed. The neon-pink haze flared up, forcing a new notification to override his status sheet.

....

[DAILY QUEST INITIATED]

Objective: Extract vengeance. Make a public mockery of your first bully, the one who first shattered your dignity in your past life.

Failure Penalty: [RESTRICTION] Your next ejaculation must occur inside a living being. If the fluid is discharged anywhere else, your testicles will violently rupture.

.....

Mylo’s eyes nearly bulged out of his skull.

"Are you insane?!" he yelled at the empty terrace.

His hand instinctively flew down to protect his crotch. The penalty was absurd. It was barbaric.

It meant he couldn’t even masturbate to relieve stress. If he cracked under pressure and tried to handle things himself in the shower, he would literally emasculate himself.

But as the initial panic subsided, Mylo’s eyes narrowed at the specific wording.

Inside a living being...

"Why a ’living being’?" he muttered, a chill running down his spine. "Why doesn’t it just say a woman? Does it mean... animals? Non-humans?"

The thought made his stomach turn. The Satan System truly was a demonic piece of garbage. It wasn’t trying to make him a hero; it was forcing him into absolute depravity if he failed.

"Fine. I just won’t fail," Mylo growled, clenching his fists.

He didn’t want to fail. More importantly, he didn’t want his balls to explode.

He marched back into his room, changed into his university clothes, and headed out. He pumped himself up the entire walk down the street, forcing a tough, unbothered expression onto his face. He had the system now. He was a regressor. He was going to dominate.

But reality is a cruel judge.

The moment Mylo arrived at the grand iron gates of the State University of Mirage, his entire body locked up.

The swarming crowds of laughing freshmen faded into the background noise. His eyes glued themselves to a specific group standing right past the threshold.

In the center of that group was a tall, broad-shouldered guy with a sharp jawline and an expensive leather jacket.

Braden Vance.

In his past life, Braden was the alpha predator of his freshman year. He was rich, athletic, and possessed a cruel streak that targeted anyone who looked weak. And right now, Braden’s loud, booming laughter echoed right out of the courtyard and hit Mylo’s ears.

"Look at this pathetic idiot! Did your mom pick out those clothes for you?"

A phantom echo of Braden’s voice from the past slammed into Mylo’s mind.

Instantly, the artificial confidence shattered. Mylo’s legs began to tremble violently. His breath caught in his throat, suffocating him. The sheer, unadulterated trauma of a lifetime of humiliation came rushing back like a tidal wave.

His body remembered the bruises. His mind remembered the laughter.

He couldn’t do it. He couldn’t just walk up and mock a monster.

He was still trapped. It was the same old story.

Losing all strength in his knees, Mylo stumbled backward. He practically collapsed, sliding down the brick wall right beside the college gates, safely hidden from the view of the courtyard. He pulled his knees to his chest, his sweat-drenched hands gripping his hair as he tried to breathe.

He was a coward. Even with a demonic system, he was still just a pathetic coward.

"Well, now," a smooth, mature voice suddenly drifted down from above him. "That is quite a tragic expression for the first day of the semester."

Mylo’s head snapped up!
