Absolute Loser Becomes The Pleasure King Using Satan System
Chapter 55.Different shapes of hardship-5Chapter 55: 55.Forest of No Shade-5
As Mylo listened to her, a realization crossed his mind about what she might ask for in the end. For a second, a pang of pity surged in his chest. Earlier, he had been trying to convince her to escape the forest simply so she could assist him in hunting these monsters.
She had asked him for the truth, and now that they were setting terms for her help, he wondered just how honest he could truly afford to be with her.
Tightening his fist at his side, he replied firmly, "All right. I accept your condition."
"Hmm! Then it’s settled. Let’s prepare to hunt whatever monsters you want!"
A sudden, rare wave of enthusiastic happiness swept over Tritia, brightening her expression.
After that Mylo shifted his attention to find any weapon he could use.
Mylo picked through the outer chamber, kicking a rusted bucket out of his way.
Scalpels. Bone saws. A pair of forceps crusted with something he didn’t want to look at too closely.
He held up a thin, hooked blade, turned it once in the red light, set it back down.
"What kind of lunatic keeps a whole wall of these and not one decent knife?"
He kept digging. The second crate gave him something better. A short, heavy machete, rust along the spine but sharp at the edge. Next to it, a rolled bundle of leather straps.
"Finally. Something not meant for cutting people open."
He looped the machete through the belt, cinched it at his hip.
Status.
The bloody-red screen bled up in front of him.

It’s till low. Still not enough for either skill without grinding it back up.
I need to be careful with this. I can’t blow it all in the first hour and spend the rest of the hunt swinging a rusty knife like an idiot.
He closed the screen and looked over at Tritia.
She was crouched by the old table, dragging one curved nail along its edge. Not even looking at what he’d pulled out.
"Hey. You want something? Knife, maybe this." He held up a shorter blade, hilt-first but she didn’t look at it.
"Hmm. My body is enough."
She flexed her fingers once. The nails caught the light. Long. Curved, Sharp enough that he still flinched a little around them.
"Right."
He set the knife back down. Not convinced, but he wasn’t about to argue with someone who’d torn a Vexfang open with her bare hands.
He crouched back at the crates, still digging.
He didn’t notice how she watched him do it, her eyes focusing on something deep within him.
Waiting for something he hadn’t offered her yet.
He found the cloth in a chest near the back, red, coarse, smelling faintly of something old.
His eyes wondered on Tritia. Her old sack was barely hiding her frame, her sides and nether regions almost visible.
He had tried to ignore them but he couldn’t just take her to hunt in that outfit.
"Here. Wrap this around yourself. That sack isn’t going to hold together much longer."
Tritia took it without a word, turned it over in her hands, then looked at him expectantly, like he was supposed to know what came next.
"...You want me to do it?"
Mylo asked with troubled expression.
"Hmm."
"Right. Okay."
He could only sigh.
He wound it around her waist and hip first, then her thighs, then across her chest, tying it off at the shoulder.
Her stomach stayed bare, no way around it with this little fabric. She didn’t seem to care either way, just stood there, arms slightly out, letting him work like she was being fitted for armor and not clothes.
When he stepped back, she looked down at herself once, turned her wrist, watched the cloth shift.
"Better. Hmm."
"Good. Now, about the plan-"
"No need for plan."
He blinked. "What?"
"I don’t need a plan. Hmm. Tell me who to hit. I just need clear orders. That’s enough."
"It’s not that simple. There’s twenty five of one kind I need, twenty of another, and I need to be the one who lands the final hit on most of them, so you can’t just-"
"Too many complicated instructions."
She waved a hand, dismissive, already walking toward the cave mouth.
"Give me the order when it matters. I’ll follow it. Hmm."
He stood there a second, mouth still open around the rest of a sentence she wasn’t going to hear.
"...Fine."
He took one good look around cave before exhaling and nodding as he walked outside.
The forest outside the cave was worse than he remembered, or maybe he just hadn’t had time to notice it properly the first time.
No moon. Not really. Just a dull red smear low in a sky that had no stars in it, the whole thing bleeding light down through the canopy like something up there had been wounded a long time ago and never stopped.
Everything below it wore the same two colors. Red where the light touched. Black where it didn’t. Nothing in between. He’d read lunatic’s report so he knew there was no other shade, but it still got to him sometimes, the way a normal leaf should catch light and just didn’t, like the color had been owed somewhere else.
Something out there was making a sound like crickets. Not quite crickets. Too slow. Too deep. A chirp dragged out three times longer than it should be, like whatever was making it had a body too big for the sound to belong to.
He tried not to think about how big that might be.
The wind didn’t help. It moved through the branches without touching them, dry, cold in a way that had nothing to do with temperature, more like the air itself had gone stale a long time ago and just kept circulating out of habit.
"You come out this far before?" Mylo asked, keeping his voice low.
"Hmm. Sometimes.’’
Tritia moved a few steps ahead of him, silent on the uneven ground in a way he still hadn’t figured out. Her feet found gaps in the brush he didn’t even see until she’d already crossed them.
"Hmm. Not usually this far. Once, a Nothrought chased me almost to the cave. Gave up right at the edge."
"Why’d it give up?" He knew why but still asked to find what she knew.
"Hmm, Don’t know."
She didn’t stop walking, as they conversed, their voice dominating surrounding.
"Hmm, Maybe scared of something inside. You should remember that. If it gets bad, run for the cave. Nothing follows past it."
"I will remember that."
He accepted the advice. He knew that cave had curses that would stop monsters from coming inside.
They continued to walk in the barely illuminated forest until Mylo felt a different vibe.
Somewhere off to his left, the not-crickets stopped.
All of them, at once, the way a room goes quiet when everyone in it hears the same thing and nobody says what.
Tritia’s head turned, slow, tracking something he couldn’t see or hear.
"...Tritia?"
"Hmm." She kept walking. "It’s here. Let’s go."
He didn’t like that word. He kept walking anyway, deeper into the red and the black, listening to a silence that felt a lot more crowded than the noise had.
And just then, the first one came out of the brush without any warning at all.
