"Yes, the crocodiles tore his body apart, and he’ll become damned shit soon enough!" The commander smiled gleefully at the thief’s fate, and the knights looked at each other happily. The commander spoke to them again.

"Come on now, prepare your things and load the bodies of your brothers onto the carriages. I will go ahead of you to the royal palace and inform His Majesty of the good news!" Immediately after saying this, the commander flew into the sky and headed toward the royal palace.

Due to his high speed as a Level Four expert and a user of a Secondary Law derived from the Law of Wind, the commander soon arrived at the royal palace after several minutes of flight!

Upon seeing his arrival, everyone who saw him knelt on one knee and quickly performed a military salute. "We salute the Third Knight Commander!"

The commander nodded at them and happily continued forward, but upon seeing someone standing before the gate of the throne hall, his expression immediately changed to annoyance.

"Look who we have here. Isn’t this our Third Commander, whose face was disfigured and reputation dragged through the mud because of a little thief!" A tall, smooth-faced man stood before the door of the throne hall with a white spear on his back. He spread his arms and smiled provocatively at the Third Commander!

"Get out of my way, Second. I don’t have time for you." The Third Commander pushed the Second Commander aside and spoke in a cold voice.

"Tell me, Third, were you able to get rid of that lowly thief and wash away your shame or not?" The Second Commander called out mockingly from behind the Third Commander, then placed a hand over his mouth in feigned surprise. "Or forgive me, how rude of me. I forgot that he stamped shame onto your face when he gave you that scar!"

The Third Commander clenched his fist but did not respond to the Second Commander’s provocation and mockery. He pushed open the door and entered the throne hall!

The commander entered the throne hall and advanced with steady steps. He removed his helmet and held it under his arm. As soon as he reached the throne, he quickly knelt on one knee before the King and Queen. "The Third Knight Commander salutes His Majesty and Her Majesty!"

"Rise, Third Commander. You have done an excellent job and rid the kingdom of the evil of that filthy thief." The Queen spoke in her gentle voice and gestured toward the commander.

The Queen was a woman in her forties with black hair, wearing an elegant dress colored blue and white.

"I merely did my duty, Your Majesty the Queen." The Third Commander stood in obedience to the order and bowed toward the Queen. "It is my honor that my services have fulfilled Your Majesties’ expectations!"

"Did you bring back what was stolen?" The King paid no attention to formalities and quickly asked about what concerned him!

The King was a man who appeared to be in his fifties. He wore a blue suit and a silver crown atop his head!

"It is here, Your Majesty." The commander took out the void bag, pulled out a red box, and handed it to one of the servants, who in turn handed it to the King!

The King held the box with trembling hands, and when he found that it had not been opened and the seal was intact, he immediately felt happy and finally relaxed. "That fool thought he could steal a treasure like this. Even if he could open this box, without its special key, the treasure and the box would both be destroyed before he could enjoy either of them!" The King smiled and placed his ring on the seal of the box. The moment they touched, the seal immediately recognized the ring and quietly opened.

The King looked inside expectantly, but his expression soon darkened and turned for the worse!

"What is this? What is this! Where the hell is my treasure!" The King looked at the card he found inside the box, then looked toward the Third Commander furiously!

"What do you mean, Your Majesty! I brought you the box as you ordered, and I made sure it had not been opened. You said it yourself, if it were opened, the box and everything inside it would be destroyed." The Third Commander quickly knelt down, and his body was soon drenched in sweat from fear of the punishment for failure. He explained the situation as quickly as possible!

"Do you think I’m blind, or am I crazy?! Look carefully at what you brought me and tell me what this is!" The King threw the box toward the Third Commander, then threw the card at him as well!

"This is impossible!" The Third Commander caught the box first and found it empty. Then he grabbed the white card, and his eyes widened when he saw what was on it!

There was a picture on the front of the card! A picture of the masked thief sitting on the back of a clown while raising his right hand and lifting his middle and index fingers in front of his face! And that clown was the King!

On the back of the card was a phrase that enraged the Third Commander until the veins on his forehead bulged!

It read...

Thank you for the precious treasure, you fools! With my best wishes for your impending poverty, from the darling of the masses.... The Friendly Thief!

"Tell me now, you damn idiot, do you see my treasure anywhere!" The King screamed at the Third Commander until the veins on his forehead bulged, and he almost lost his temper and drew his sword to cut off the Third Commander’s head!

"Calm down, Your Majesty. That despicable thief deceived all of us, not just the Third Commander." The Queen held the King’s hand and spoke gently in an attempt to calm him down!

"You don’t understand. None of you understand a damn thing!" The King shouted furiously, and his anger only grew instead of diminishing. He pulled his hand away from the Queen’s and shouted again with even greater fury...

"That treasure was the reason our kingdom ruled over this world in the ancient era, and it is our only hope of restoring the ancient glory of our kingdom and building a new glory of our own!" He then pointed his finger toward the Third Commander. "And that damn fool couldn’t even retrieve it from a filthy Level Three thief!"

Everyone’s eyes widened upon hearing this, and the Third Commander felt that this truly would be his end. The Queen looked toward him with furrowed brows!

"Since you obtained the box, you must have captured the thief as well, or at least have his corpse... Where is he!"

Faced with this question, the Third Commander swallowed hard and looked toward the King and Queen. He did not dare to lie and said with difficulty, "The crocodiles ate him!"

---

On the bank of a river, the surroundings were peaceful, disturbed only by the sound of birds singing, and there was not a single other creature nearby.

Suddenly, the void above the grass shattered as if a glass mirror were breaking, and a large amount of water soon poured out from that spatial hole as if the hole were connected to some river!

But the large hole soon closed within moments, the water receded, and the thief’s body appeared on the grass, surrounded by numerous crocodile heads and half of their bodies!

The thief looked toward the sky with exhausted eyes, placed his severed hand over the hole in his stomach, and smiled crazily. "I’m finally free! The Friendly Thief has died, and the Eternal Thief has awakened.... Prepare your vaults, you filthy nobles, because I’ll be knocking on your doors very soon!"
