Chapter 569: Chapter 568: Trouble

Over the course of the next few days, the Molak Family sent envoys to the fifty neutral forces in the hope that a coalition could be formed. Eventually, they intended to rally their combined forces and march toward the Ynvashi Kingdom.

Meanwhile, Keith and Kiro were busy digesting the massive amount of resources they had been given.

It took them almost two weeks to fully absorb everything. By the end of it, both had broken through by one realm, with Kiro reaching the High Level of Rank 0 and Keith reaching the Middle Level of Rank 0.

Rasel, on the other hand, took over managing the affairs of the Molak Family. Although the Family Head appeared to be the one in charge, in reality, it was Rasel who oversaw everything, familiarizing herself with the family’s operations while making several improvements along the way.

As for Leon, he spent most of his time speaking with the elders, some of whom hoped to establish a closer relationship with him.

Everyone seemed to be occupied, either cultivating or preparing for what was to come.

Everyone...

Except Devon.

For some reason, he constantly felt that something wasn’t right.

Just as nearly a month had passed, the envoys finally returned with news.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t what they had hoped for.

Inside the main hall, seated around the long table, were the elders, Rasel, Kiro, Keith, Leon, and Devon as they listened to the report.

"Out of the fifty neutral forces, twenty agreed immediately. Ten requested more time to consider our proposal, while the remaining twenty have yet to respond," a guard reported.

Bam!

A loud bang echoed through the hall as the Family Head slammed his fist onto the table.

"Shameless greedy fools," he muttered through gritted teeth.

He wasn’t the only one angered.

The elders shared the same expression.

Without a doubt, those thirty forces understood exactly what was at stake. However, before agreeing to join the coalition, they wanted the Molak Family to offer additional benefits.

They wanted a share of the rewards that would come from defeating the Ynvashi Kingdom.

"It’s alright," Rasel said calmly, her gaze sweeping across everyone present before she continued.

"The main reason I reached out to them was to prevent them from joining our enemies."

"But if this is their decision..."

"Then we simply have to prepare while considering them potential enemies as well."

Her voice was cold.

The elders nodded in agreement.

Indeed.

If those forces were that greedy, then they couldn’t be trusted.

Even if they joined the coalition now, there was no guarantee they wouldn’t betray them in the middle of the war.

Rasel wasn’t particularly surprised by their response.

"Alright..."

"Onto the next topic."

"The forces we’re truly up against."

Rasel’s expression became solemn.

"While the envoys were carrying out their mission, the spies we planted within several organizations also sent back their reports."

She paused.

"Without exception, every single one of them was killed immediately after transmitting the information."

Everyone in the hall unconsciously swallowed.

The atmosphere instantly turned heavy.

But Rasel wasn’t finished.

"And based on the intelligence they managed to send back before their deaths..."

"We can now say with certainty..."

"The Mortal Realm is in trouble."

The moment those words left her mouth, everyone’s eyes widened.

********

Far from the Molak Family...

The reason for Rasel’s words became clear several days earlier.

A yellow hooded figure staggered through the dense forest, his breathing ragged as blood dripped from the corner of his lips.

His cloak had long since been torn apart, exposing countless wounds across his body yet he didn’t dare stop, not even for a single second.

Every instinct in his body screamed the same warning.

Run.

Branches whipped across his face as he leaped from tree to tree, constantly changing directions in an attempt to throw off whoever was chasing him.

Yet no matter where he went, no matter how carefully he erased his tracks they always found him like a tracker was placed on him.

"...Damn monsters..."

The man gritted his teeth before taking out a small communication token.

Its surface had already cracked from overuse.

He injected a strand of his energy into it.

Static echoed for a few moments before a weak voice answered.

"...Report."

"They’re here."

"They found me."

"I’ve already sent the information."

"They know."

"Destroy every trace connecting me to the family."

Silence.

"...Understood."

The communication cut off.

The man smiled bitterly.

At the very least, his mission had been completed and that alone made every sacrifice worthwhile.

Without another word, he changed direction once again.Instead of fleeing deeper into the wilderness, he rushed toward the nearest city.

If he could disappear into a crowd then maybe there qas a chance for survival.

...

Hours later.

The bustling city gates came into view.

Merchants entered one after another while countless Rank 0 being walked through the streets without paying him any attention.

The spy lowered his head as his aura shifted, his face gradually transformed into that of an old man as his skin wiggled like a worm.

Even his Middle level Rank 0 realm fluctuations changed.

Only then did he slowly enter the city.

He walked through the crowded streets, blending perfectly into the sea of people.

Children laughed as they chased one another while endors loudly advertised their goods.

Nothing seemed unusual but the more normal everything was, the more his anxiousness grows. His heartbeat refused to slow down as he could still feel it.

That feeling, like invisible eyes staring directly into his soul.

The spy entered an inn and rented a room before immediately beginning to set up dozens of concealment formations.

By the time he finished, sweat covered his forehead as he finally allowed himself to breathe.

"...I should be safe.".., he muttered but hust then, asoft knock suddenly echoed from outside.

Knock.

Knock.

Knock.

The spy froze, his expression slowly stiffened.

"...Who’s there?"

No reply, what followed was another knock.

Knock.

Then another...

Knock.

Knock.

His heart sank.

Without hesitation, he smashed open the window and leaped outside.

The instant his feet touched the rooftop—

BOOM!

His room exploded.

The entire inn shook violently as terrified screams filled the streets.

The spy didn’t even bother looking back as he fled across the rooftops at full speed.

People below pointed toward the sky in confusion.

"Someone’s fighting!"

"What happened?"

"Who’s that?"

The spy ignored every voice , he only ran as fast as he could, it didn’t matter if he had passed two rooftops, five or even ten rooftops. His speed kept increasing as he urged himself .

Suddenly—

A black figure silently landed behind him as the spy felt a cold feeling hit his back.

The spy’s pupils shrank.

The figure’s face remained hidden beneath a hood.

"..."

Not a single word was spoken yet the spy knew this was death in human form as he immediately changed directions runnimg toward another street.

But just as he was about to reach it, he was cut off as another figures appeared, the spy gritted his teeth as he turned to the right and dashed out but before he could take a few more steps, the third figure appeared

At this moment , only an alleyway was available, even if he didn’t know where it lead but he knew this was his only chance as he entered it.

The moment he did, the fourth figure appeared as he met up with the rest as they looked at the alleyway calmly.

Finally, after running till he reached a wall, the spy stopped.

His breathing became increasingly erratic.

"...Impossible..."

"There can’t be this many...".., the spy whispered only at this moment the four figures appeared from the darkness as he was surrounded.

The spy clenched his fists as he spoke .

"I’ve already delivered the message."

"You’ve already lost."

But even though he said this, he received no answer as the hooded figures simply continued walking.

Step.

Step.

Step.

The spy roared before unleashing every ounce of power he possessed, the atone pavement beneath him shattered as he charged straight ahead.

His fist erupted with blinding light and a terrifying explosion swept through the district.

Buildings collapsed as dust filled the air for a while as a smile couldn’t help but appeare at the fact of the spy.

When the smoke finally settled, the spy’s smile slowly disappeared.

His attack had did nothing, the fourth beings were still there with no scratch whatsoever.

Cold sweat trickled down his back and then a hand suddenly rested upon his shoulder. His entire body froze as he slowly turned his head to see one of the hooded figure behind him.

He was close enough that he could hear him breathing.

Then figure raised one finger as the spy instinctively tried to retreat but it was too late.

The finger lightly touched his forehead.

Crack.

A tiny fracture appeared across the spy’s forehead and then it quickly spread as his entire body suddenly split apart into hundreds of neat pieces before collapsing onto the ground.

Blood quietly spread across the ground as the hooded figures looked at the corpse for a brief moment.

Then...

Without another glance...

They vanished leaving the dead body to be found by the guards of this city in a few days.

...

Several days later.

Elsewhere.

Another spy hid beneath an underground shelter hundreds of meters below the earth.

His breathing remained calm and unlike the others, he hadn’t moved since sending the information.

No one should have known he was here at least that was what he thought after all this room was protected by ancient formations passed down for generations.

Even Rank 1 experts could hardly detect this place.

"...I survived..."

He said with a triumphant smile but just then the stone door behind him suddenly creaked open.

The man’s smile froze.

"...what!."

No one should know this location but yeah he was with eyes widened as a hooded figure slowly walked into the chamber.

The spy immediately activated every formation as the room erupted with Light.

Defensive barriers sprung up one after the other, Killing formations, illusion arrays, seal formations and much more as dozens activated simultaneously.

The hooded figure never stopped walking as each barrier quietly shattered as though made of glass, one after another without resistance.

The spy’s face turned pale as he couldn’t help but ask.

"W-Who are you...?"

But the hooded figure remained silent as he came closer and closer.

The spy laughed bitterly.

"...I see."

"So that’s how it is."

He slowly closed his eyes.

"...At least..."

"The message reached home."

A black flash appeared and the underground chamber became silent once more.

******
