Achieving Demon Godhood from Unlocking Talents
Chapter 327 - 37: Titan State, ActivateTAP, TAP, TAP!
With each step, Horace’s pupils glowed a ghastly green as he stared intently at the figure of the young man walking briskly away.
Magic Power flowed through him. He was still under the effects of his Invisibility Technique, constantly influencing the mental perception of those around him.
Even a Martial Artist at the Peak of Limit-Breaking might not be able to see him.
But he was absolutely certain the other man had already spotted him.
’Is he a metahuman?’
’Or a Martial Artist with formidable mental strength?’
As the thoughts flashed through his mind, he tightened his grip on his silver cane and quickened his pace.
He should have left. He shouldn’t provoke another Superpower Level individual.
But that special intuition from his divination seemed to be coming true at this very moment.
’Did he kill Vilim?’
The persistent thought kept surfacing. Horace continuously channeled his Magic Power, casting the Shrinking Earth Skill to keep up with the man.
Ever since stepping into the Red Maple City Circle, he’d felt as if he’d fallen into some kind of conspiracy, constrained at every turn and targeted by the Biotechnology Company.
He needed to verify a few things.
WHOOSH!!
With a burst of Magic, he accelerated again.
One chasing the other, the two men rounded a city block, passed by several low-rise apartment buildings, and entered a narrow alleyway area.
The low-rise apartments on either side were packed tightly together, separated by only three to five meters. Each had a low wall built of concrete bricks, about two meters high, that was simply coated in a layer of white paint, now covered in a thick layer of dust.
At some point, the sky had gradually darkened, and night had completely fallen. Only the lampposts by the low walls on either side still cast a dim, yellow glow, barely illuminating the street.
Lu Chao’s expression was calm. He continued forward, still carrying the small, silver briefcase.
An occasional pedestrian brushed past him; this area was now far from the site of the earlier explosion.
Soon, he saw that just around the next corner, he would be out of this remote and cramped alleyway.
THUMP!
Lu Chao’s steps halted. He looked ahead.
A Caucasian man in a black woolen overcoat had used some unknown method to suddenly appear before him, blocking his path.
He adjusted the wide-brimmed black hat on his head, looked up slightly, and revealed a pair of ghastly green eyes.
He looked like a middle-aged gentleman, holding a silver, hook-handled cane that lightly tapped the ground.
"I am Horace."
He spoke calmly, his face showing no malice, and his tone seemed quite sincere. "I have no intention of making an enemy of you, sir, nor do I wish to stir up unnecessary trouble."
"It’s just..."
As their eyes met, he snapped his fingers, and a photograph suddenly appeared in his palm.
"I have a disciple named Vilim."
He continued, his eyes fixed on Lu Chao, "About half a year ago, he came to Red Maple, and then he disappeared without a trace."
"I wonder, sir, have you seen him?"
BUZZ!!
The moment he finished speaking, he threw the photograph. It shot through the air like a white streak, cutting through the night.
Lu Chao’s expression remained unchanged. He reached out with his left hand and caught it.
The photograph showed a young man with brown hair. It was none other than the member of the God-Worshiping Church he had killed while on duty in the square.
In that instant, all his doubts were cleared away. He confirmed his suspicion: this Mage was the "teacher" the young man had spoken of.
’And now, he wants revenge for him?’
HUMMM!!
The thought flashed through his mind as the photograph in his hand suddenly turned to gray dust, slipping through the cracks between his fingers and falling to the ground.
Then, Horace spoke again. "Vilim was just one of my less-talented disciples. I never intended to expend too much effort on him."
Horace stared at Lu Chao, as if he could read his mind.
"I don’t really care whether he’s alive or dead. I just want to confirm one thing."
"Sir, have you seen the Holy Scripture?"
The two stood about seven or eight meters apart.
Even shrouded in darkness, Lu Chao could clearly see the man’s face, as well as the ancient-looking book he had suddenly pulled from his coat.
It looked so familiar. He had even kept it in his possession for quite some time.
And now...
Suspicion, killing intent, malice...
Lu Chao could perceive the vague emotions directed at him.
It was obvious the man had a rough idea of what he was capable of.
"What a pity..."
Thinking this, Lu Chao sighed helplessly, slowly setting down the silver briefcase and leaning it against the wall.
There was no one else in the alleyway. The dark night gradually devoured the light from the lampposts, leaving only a gentle night breeze to blow through.
"Yes, a pity indeed."
His answer confirmed, Horace narrowed his eyes.
He tucked the Holy Scripture back into his overcoat, and the Magic Power coursing through him began to surge silently.
He knew he wasn’t in the best condition to fight right now.
But since he had his answer, then...
"You must live a good, long life."
He said flatly, his figure gradually turning ethereal and disappearing.
Only the threatening echo of his voice remained, drifting in the air and transforming into a bone-chilling cold that seeped into Lu Chao’s heart.
"Your family, your friends... they all must live good, long lives too."
"Only then can I come and collect my due..."
BOOM!!
The moment the words fell, Lu Chao vanished.
In the next instant, he reappeared a hundred meters back, at the entrance to the alleyway.
His fist tore through the air, smashing into the shadows beneath the wall.
THUD!!
The shadow exploded, and it seemed as if countless black threads shot out in all directions.
Horace’s hidden true body was revealed. His pupils contracted, as if he never expected his Clone Skill to be seen through.
The silver scepter, held horizontally to block, was made of sturdy material. It actually managed to block Lu Chao’s full-power punch, emitting a grating, scraping sound. KKKKRRRR!
