"The Basic Clone Skill creates a clone that is one hundred percent identical to the original body using Magic Power. It is controlled by the caster’s will and can move freely."

"Its weaknesses: it has no offensive capabilities and cannot go more than one hundred meters away from the user."

Lu Chao spoke in a cold voice. A brown Qi Flame surged around him, forming an invisible aura that extended half an inch from his skin.

The silver cane beneath his right fist began to show signs of melting. Horace, pinned by his gaze, looked astonished. Then, suspicion dawned on his face as he finally understood the crucial point.

’The man hasn’t just seen the Holy Scripture, he’s read and memorized its contents.’

’In other words...’

"What a shame."

BOOM!

Lu Chao’s aura erupted. The ground beneath his feet cracked and buckled.

He glanced out of the corner of his eye toward the street beyond the alley. The Biotechnology Company’s people were only a few hundred meters away. He had to end this quickly and keep the fallout to a minimum.

And so...

CRACK! CRACK! CRACK! CRACK!

His body swelled, shooting up half an inch in an instant as he entered the state of Copper Flesh and Iron Bones. Streaks of brown light flashed across his skin.

But that wasn’t all.

"I was going to let you live."

Staring daggers at Horace, Lu Chao’s eyes suddenly turned savage. It was as if a fuse had been lit, sending him into a state of absolute fury.

It was like flipping a switch. He grew another inch taller, his muscles swelling as if being reborn, coiling and bunching together like a nest of pythons.

He became even more imposing, his height nearing two meters.

His shoulders, back, arms, and thighs... every muscle in his body had swelled by half, turning him into a small giant.

The brown Qi Flame swirling around him began to flash with gold. It seemed to solidify, now extending a full inch from his body. The pressure made the ground beneath his feet crackle and shatter, blowing away all dust and debris within a radius of several meters.

Even the hairs of his buzz cut stood on end, as if he had achieved some legendary, divine form.

"You..."

His eyes trembling, Horace felt his breath catch in his throat. Leaning against the alley wall, his heart pounded wildly as a sudden chill washed over him.

In a single instant, the man’s life force had skyrocketed several times over, vaulting past the Limit-Breaking Level.

Stunned and suspicious, he ignored his injuries and frantically unleashed his Magic Power, desperate to escape.

VMMMM!

In an instant, several eerie green fireballs, each the size of a human head, materialized on either side of him.

The air seemed to melt as intense heat erupted.

His body even became illusory again as he instantly cast several spells without any incantation.

BOOM! BOOM!

The fireballs erupted, slamming into Lu Chao.

A blinding, eerie green light and superheated flames shot up, expanding to a height of two or three meters and completely engulfing his form.

The trembling ground was scorched black and began to melt, clearly unable to withstand such temperatures.

VMMMM!

At the same time, Horace’s illusory form vanished completely.

The darkness on the alley floor rippled, as if something was streaking through it.

He was treating the darkness like an ocean, swimming through it. In just a few breaths, he had already covered a hundred meters.

WHOOSH!

But then, the sound of a great gale echoed through the alley.

The three-meter-high pillar of eerie green flame suddenly exploded. Standing in its place was Lu Chao. He fanned his palms, and a casual wave to either side created a sonic boom, sending a gale tearing across the ground.

The brown Qi Flame, now flecked with gold, extended a foot from his body, swirling into a cone shape around him.

His eyes, now glowing with a crimson-gold light, glanced around. His powerful dynamic vision, like that of a hawk, instantly spotted an anomaly in the shadows on the ground, locking onto the hidden aura that was trying to escape.

BOOM!

The concrete ground exploded, a ring of white vapor expanding from the spot.

Lu Chao vanished. The next instant, he reappeared hundreds of meters away, blocking the path of the skulking shadow.

VMMMM!

His thick right leg stomped down hard. The loose fabric of his athletic pants was stretched to its limit, barely containing muscles like steel cables. It was like a concrete pillar slamming into the earth.

BAM!

The ground shook, a shallow crater blasted into existence.

Nearby buildings swayed slightly. Countless people inside paused what they were doing, confused.

In response, amid the flying concrete debris, Horace was forced to break his spell and emerge from his shadow-walk.

He instantly cast several Basic Magic spells. His body suddenly became incredibly pliable, and he rode the shockwave like a kite, gliding through the air to create distance.

A grim expression had appeared on his face. He stared intently at the powerful young man, whose blazing Qi Flame was as bright as a miniature sun.

"Ruuk!"

VMMMM!

He finally had time for an incantation, allowing him to cast a more powerful, intermediate-level spell.

SWOOSH! SWOOSH! SWOOSH!

The shadows on the ground seemed to bend to his will, solidifying into countless chains that shot toward Lu Chao from all directions.

They wrapped around his arms and body, engulfing his feet. They continued to spread, threatening to smother even the Qi Flame that enveloped him.

Then, a giant shadow serpent materialized before Lu Chao. Its massive body coiled before it lunged, its three-meter-wide maw gaping as it struck!

The next instant—

BOOM!

The alley shook as the giant serpent exploded.

The countless black chains shattered into dust, falling to the ground like a rain of black light.

Lu Chao launched himself from the ground, covering a hundred meters in a dive and once again appearing before the fleeing Horace.

’This Mage’s techniques are stranger than I expected,’ he thought. ’In some ways, he’s even harder to deal with than some Martial Artists at the Peak of Limit-Breaking.’

But...

BAM! BAM! BAM!

He simply smashed through all the shadow chains in his path with brute force. In his Titan state, his strength was no longer human!

WHOOSH!

A ring of white vapor tore through the air.

Lu Chao shot across the alley, appearing right in front of Horace.

His coiled right arm shot out, creating a sonic boom as it flew straight for Horace’s face.

"Koel!"

VMM!

His expression grim, Horace unleashed his Magic Power again.

The ground before him seemed to transform into a shadow swamp. A three-meter-tall humanoid giant wreathed in eerie green flame rose from it, blocking his path.

A massive flaming fist smashed toward Lu Chao, and the two attacks collided in an instant.

BOOM!

A gale tore across the ground, blasting a new, shallow crater into the concrete.

The concrete block walls on either side of the alley cracked and shattered, unable to withstand the aftershock.

Lampposts teetered on the verge of collapse, groaning as their bolts strained.

Having bought a moment’s respite, Horace’s face was pale. Casting intermediate-level Magic multiple times was taking its toll.

Not daring to delay, he guided his pliable body back to the ground, intending to dive into the shadows once more and escape.

But...

BOOM!

The three-meter-tall Flame Giant suddenly shuddered, a gaping hole blasted through its chest.

From the other side, Lu Chao looked at him, then took a heavy step, stomping on the ground.

CRASH!

The giant exploded. The countless eerie green flames were blown away by the shockwave, vanishing without a trace.

Even the swamp-like shadow on the ground was pinned in place by that raw, barbaric power.

"This..."

His expression changed in horror, Horace’s pupils trembling violently.

And yet, the young man in his vision was as unstoppable as a miniature giant. Hair on end, eyes blazing with fury, he charged forward, his punch wreathed in a golden-brown Qi Flame.

VMMMM!

The specter of death loomed. The wind pressure from that peerless force felt like a knife scraping across his face.

The parchment scroll on Horace’s body burst into flames of its own accord, activating its power.

The Magic Power around him resonated with the scroll, amplifying and instantly coalescing into a green barrier in front of him.

It was tougher than most steel alloys; not even a Martial Artist at the Peak of Limit-Breaking could destroy it.

And yet...

BAM!

The barrier shattered, as fragile as a soap bubble.

The fist, wreathed in the golden-brown Qi Flame, was brutally savage, slamming into his chest.

PFFT!

RIIIIP!

The fist tore through flesh and blood like a spear.

His black wool coat, his skin, his flesh, his very bones—all were pierced in an instant.

Horace’s eyes widened, blood vessels bursting in his eerie green irises.

Their eyes met.

He saw Lu Chao, wreathed in his Qi Flame, looking down at him with a cold, indifferent expression. His eyes held a divine light, like a Celestial God gazing upon a mortal.

"I gave you a chance."

"Why didn’t you take it?"
