The Emperor was silent for a few seconds. "Even so, that doesn’t confirm the masked Beastman you mentioned is Fox Jue."

Hu Yan nodded. "That’s true. That’s why I had people investigate the events of that year. I discovered Fox Jue orchestrated the entire thing himself. His goal was to make everyone believe he would never wake up again. He was only in his early twenties back then. For him to devise such a thorough plan, do you really think it’s possible he had no accomplices?"

"Furthermore, the team I sent to track the small Starship he was piloting reported back. The target abandoned a Warship near the underground city and vanished. My men have turned the underground city upside down but haven’t found him. The man who should be lying in a Treatment Pod is missing, yet someone with the same build, movements, and even identical scar locations has appeared. With the entire Federation at stake, I can’t help but be suspicious."

"For your sixtieth birthday, you granted a general amnesty. I heard it was because your health was failing, so I had Zelda summon a Healer. I suspect he has quite a few of his people in the Imperial Palace as well. Otherwise, how could he have hidden from everyone for so many years and gained such a clear understanding of the palace’s inner workings? How could he even get his hands on classified military schematics?"

The Emperor exhaled and patted Hu Yan’s shoulder, his eyes filled with approval. He said earnestly, "You’ve been very thoughtful. If it weren’t for you, I might never have known I was poisoned."

As the Emperor spoke, a sharp glint flashed in his eyes. "I understand. I’ll order a purge as soon as I return to the palace."

Hu Yan, however, said, "My advice is to hold off on any big moves, so we don’t tip him off."

He then whispered a few words to the Emperor.

The Emperor nodded. "What you say makes sense. I’m giving you full authority over this matter. You must confirm whether he is responsible, determine his connection to the Insect Clan, and identify who’s backing him. Also, keep a closer eye on the Insect Clan. They’ve been a little too active these past few years."

Hu Yan stood and performed a respectful salute exclusive to the royal family, then said, "I understand. Let me escort you back now."

Empress Leia had been listening quietly, but the moment she heard they were leaving, she immediately protested, "I’m not going back! It’s not often I get to come out."

Hu Yan thought for a moment and said, "Then where would you like to go? I can have someone accompany you and Father Emperor."

Empress Leia gave a graceful smile. "I’ve never been to your private residence. Let’s go and visit for a bit."

Her little scheme was so obvious that Hu Yan couldn’t even pretend not to notice. He said helplessly, "Mother Empress, she’s very timid. If you and Father Emperor show up so suddenly, you’ll frighten her. When she’s ready, I’ll bring her to meet you."

Empress Leia retorted reasonably, "Then just don’t tell her who we are! I just want to take a peek. You’re already so old, I was worried you weren’t interested in females at all. I never thought you’d find one yourself without a word. You have no idea how happy that makes me."

The Emperor tugged at Empress Leia. "Alright, now. Yan’er is right. What if we go over so directly and scare her? Let’s just go back and wait. He’ll bring her to see you eventually."

As the Emperor spoke, he covertly sent Empress Leia a message: "If you ask Yan’er directly like that, he’ll definitely say no. If you really want to see her, we can go take a peek in secret. Besides, Yan’er is right. We need to give the girl some time to prepare. Not all females are that bold. What if you scare her away from Yan’er? Where are you going to find another female to replace her for him? And she was just rescued. She probably just wants to be with her Yan’er right now. If we go, won’t we be intruding on their private time together?"

Hearing this, Empress Leia immediately saw the logic in it and stopped insisting on going. She quickly said, "You should hurry back. She was just rescued, so she must need you. Go on, don’t keep her waiting."

Hearing this, Hu Yan glanced at the Emperor, who nodded at him.

Only then did Hu Yan say, "Then I will take my leave."

Meanwhile, Bai Zhi and the others were eating. Bai Zhi hadn’t eaten anything since the previous afternoon, and the moment she got back, she couldn’t resist whipping up a whole table of food.

By the time Hu Yan returned, they had already finished eating.

Yue Junxiao took out the Enchanting Heart Worm and the Illusion Insect and placed them on the table. Seeing they weren’t awake yet, he shook their jars, put them back on the table, and had a staring contest with the two of them.

Yue Junxiao straightened up, jutted his chin at them, and asked, "What should we do with these two?"

The Enchanting Heart Worm had been tormented a few times already and knew the drill. It immediately froze, not daring to move a muscle.

The Illusion Insect, shaken so unexpectedly, felt a surge of anger. It opened its eyes to see one of its captors standing opposite it, which made it tremble in fear. Then, it turned its head and saw the cowering Enchanting Heart Worm trapped in its own jar. It instantly realized that when the Enchanting Heart Worm had asked for its location earlier, it must have already been caught.

The Illusion Insect, with nowhere to vent its anger, could only curse, "Useless bug!"

The Enchanting Heart Worm had looked at the Illusion Insect with excitement, but after being suddenly insulted, its buggy face fell. "You’re so useful? Then how did you get caught too?"

The Illusion Insect was struck speechless, its buggy face a canvas of complex emotions.

Listening to the low-pitched noise, Yue Junxiao turned to the others and asked, "They’re communicating, right? That sound is really grating."

Lang Qiu stared for a few seconds and replied in all seriousness, "Sounds like it."

Hu Yan returned just in time to see them all gathered around the two insects. "What are you all talking about?"

Hearing his voice, Bai Zhi turned to Hu Yan and said, "You’re done with your work? They were just wondering what these two from the Insect Clan are saying."

Hu Yan nodded. "Mhm. I have to return to the border later this evening."

He thought for a moment, then said, "Do you want to come with me?"

’Leaving Bai Zhi here is more dangerous than keeping her by my side. The most dangerous place is the safest place.’

Bai Zhi glanced back at Sang Mo and the others, then looked at Hu Yan. "Would that be alright?"

Hu Yan shook his head. "It’s fine. On the Main Star, you’re all considered powerful experts, and you already have experience fighting the Insect Clan."

Bai Zhi was worried they would cause trouble for Hu Yan and that he would have to look out for them.

Just then, Sang Mo, as if reading her mind, said, "If you want to go, then go."

Lang Qiu also said, "If our Mistress goes, we go."

Yue Junxiao was enthusiastic. "I’ve never been!"

Bai Zhi nodded. "We’ll try not to wander around or cause you any trouble."

Yue Junxiao mimicked Bai Zhi, "If you need help with anything, just say the word."

A smile touched Hu Yan’s lips. "Then I should thank you in advance?"

Bai Zhi then rummaged through the house for some things, planning to make them some delicious food later. ’Fighting a war is such hard work. How can they not eat well?’

When they had packed up and were heading out, Bai Zhi had the vague feeling that something was watching her. She turned her head and spotted two people in strange outfits. When they saw her looking, they ducked out of sight.

Bai Zhi: "???"

When Empress Leia saw Bai Zhi look their way, her face lit up with excitement. She said to the Emperor beside her, "Yin, did you see that? Yan’er’s female is so beautiful! So fair and delicate, and so petite. She looks like she’d be easy to bully. I wonder which family she’s from. She just has such a pleasant look about her. As expected of the female Yan’er likes. Before we came, I thought he was just stringing me along, but he really does have a female!"

The more Empress Leia looked, the more pleased she was.

The Emperor reminded her from behind, "Be careful. You’re going to be discovered in a moment."

Empress Leia said without hesitation, "No way. I’m being very careful. She definitely didn’t see me."

Just then, noticing Bai Zhi’s reaction, Hu Yan followed her gaze.

And there he saw Empress Leia—the very same person who had just been telling him to hurry back at the coffee shop—peeking out. She was wearing a bizarre outfit and a strange headdress, trying to hide. Her furtive behavior was as comical as it was strange.

’If Mother Empress is here, then Father Emperor must be here too.’

’So that’s why Mother Empress suddenly dropped the subject of meeting Bai Zhi. Father Emperor must have given her the idea.’

Hu Yan: "..."

Seeing them look over, Empress Leia immediately grabbed the Emperor’s arm. "What do we do? I think we’ve been spotted! If Yan’er knows we came to look, he’s going to be upset."

The Emperor said helplessly, "I just told you not to stare so intently, but you wouldn’t listen. Well, there you have it. With our Yan’er’s mind, there’s no doubt about it. He definitely knows."

Empress Leia, in a bit of a panic, said, "Then what do we do? It’s his fault for being so secretive and not letting me see her. I was just curious!"

At this moment, they weren’t the Emperor and Empress in the Imperial Palace; they were just an ordinary pair of parents.

Yue Junxiao watched the two hiding figures and frowned, looking puzzled. "What are those two shady characters over there trying to do? They keep looking at us. Could it be that masked Beastman who just escaped?"

As he spoke, he looked eager for a fight.

At that moment, Hu Yan sighed. "You guys go on ahead. I’ll go over there for a second."

Hearing this, Yue Junxiao said, "Oh," and got into the vehicle with Yan Yichen.

Sang Mo followed close behind. Lang Qiu glanced in their direction and also got in. Bai Zhi did not.

Just as Empress Leia was still asking the Emperor what to do, the Emperor saw Hu Yan walking toward them. He sighed and said, "No need to wonder anymore. He’s already coming over."

Hu Yan: "Father Emperor, Mother Empress."

Hearing his voice, Empress Leia’s body went stiff. She turned her head, bit by bit, a stiff, awkward smile on her face. "Yan’er, ah, what are you doing here? Oh, right, this seems to be your private residence. Well, your Father Emperor and I were just thinking of taking a walk, and we didn’t expect to accidentally wander all the way over here. Oh, hehehe..."

Hu Yan deadpanned, dismantling Empress Leia’s excuse, "Is that so? You two certainly walked quite a long way. It’s a full seven or eight kilometers from the coffee shop to here."

Empress Leia blinked hard. "Ah, is that right? Is it really that far? It didn’t feel like we were walking for very long. Right, Yin?"

As she spoke, she didn’t forget to tug on the Emperor’s sleeve, prompting him to back her up.
