The Emperor sighed helplessly and had no choice but to ask, "Are you planning on taking her with you?"

Hu Yan nodded slightly. "Yes. I’d worry if I left her behind. It’s better to bring her with me."

Empress Leia’s earlier unease vanished, replaced by a kind expression. "That’s wonderful, just wonderful. That young female seems very nice. You’d better not mistreat her."

Then, Empress Leia resumed her majestic air as the Empress. "Alright, it’s time for us to head back. We won’t disturb you any longer."

Hu Yan said, "Farewell, Father Emperor, Mother Empress."

When Hu Yan returned, Bai Zhi tilted her head, glancing in the direction the couple had gone. "Who were they?" she asked curiously. "They seemed a little strange."

Hu Yan didn’t tell her the truth. "It’s nothing," he said simply. "They’re gone now."

He worried that telling her would only make her nervous, so he decided it was better to say nothing.

Hu Yan said, "Let’s go."

Bai Zhi agreed and got into the vehicle with him.

Hu Yan’s Warship flew directly to the military encampment. When the soldiers heard that Hu Yan had returned, they all came swarming out.

They jostled and crowded around the Warship.

"The Third Prince is back?!"

"Vice Officer Lang said the Third Prince would be back today. I can’t believe it’s actually true."

The moment the Warship landed, Hu Yan led Bai Zhi and her companions down the ramp. Everyone froze. Why was there a female on the Third Prince’s Warship?

Hu Yan’s vice officer recognized Bai Zhi and her group. Plus, Hu Yan had already instructed him to prepare a few rooms, so he wasn’t surprised. He immediately stepped forward to greet them. "Third Prince, everything you requested has been prepared."

Hu Yan grunted in acknowledgment. "What’s the current situation?"

The vice officer replied, "For some reason, the Insect Clan has been inactive for the past two days. However, we’ve located their new hive and have already sent out scouts. The Insect Mother was not affected by the giant spider’s venom—she’s even regrown the arm we severed last time. What’s more, she seems to have gotten bigger. She’s likely pregnant; her abdomen is unusually large. This is probably why they haven’t made any moves. Also, Sates asked to see you upon your return."

Hu Yan paused for a moment upon hearing that the Insect Mother was pregnant. He then grunted in acknowledgment and said to his vice officer, "Take them to their quarters to rest. I’m going to find Sates."

The vice officer responded respectfully, "Yes, sir."

Hu Yan then turned to Bai Zhi. "This is my vice officer. You’ve met him before. Go with him for now; I’ll be back shortly."

Bai Zhi had overheard their conversation, so she immediately said, "Go on, don’t worry about me."

After Hu Yan left, the vice officer led their party to the pre-arranged rooms. "This is your room, Bai Cixing. The Third Prince’s room is next door."

Yue Junxiao immediately asked, "What about our rooms? We need to stay with our wife."

The vice officer replied with a solemn expression, "They are right next door. Do I need to show you?"

Lang Qiu said, "We can find them ourselves. We won’t keep you from your duties."

Yue Junxiao nodded eagerly. "Right, right. We’d like to stay here with our wife for a bit. We can go to our room on our own later."

The vice officer said, "Very well. If you need anything, feel free to call on me at any time."

With that, the vice officer left.

Yue Junxiao and the others didn’t stay for long before returning to their own rooms. They had barely rested on the Warship and planned to lie down for a while.

A few hours later, Bai Zhi heard the sounds of soldiers mobilizing outside. She got out of bed, intending to go out and see what was happening.

But before she could go out, Hu Yan opened the door from the outside.

Hu Yan strode in, bringing a chill breeze with him. He spoke concisely, "I have to leave for a period of time. A contingent will remain at the camp. If you don’t want to stay here, you can go to the Warship."

Bai Zhi thought for a moment. "We’ll go to the Warship, then. You should take the soldiers you were going to leave behind with you."

Hu Yan explained, "This contingent was already tasked with guarding the camp. They aren’t being left behind just to protect you."

Bai Zhi waved her hand. "Then go. I wish you a swift and decisive victory. I’ll make something delicious and wait for you all to come back."

Seeing her agree so readily made Hu Yan feel a little conflicted. He couldn’t resist reaching out, pulling her into his arms, and kissing her.

After they’d been kissing for a moment, Bai Zhi gently pushed at him, murmuring, "Mmm... they’re... they’re still waiting for you..."

Hu Yan murmured back, "Then let them wait."

Bai Zhi could clearly see her reflection in his eyes, along with the raw, clinging dissatisfaction in his gaze.

Only when time had truly run out did he finally release her and go.

Bai Zhi watched his retreating figure, pressed the back of her hand to her lips, and couldn’t help but let out a small laugh.

This time, Hu Yan and his forces launched an all-out assault, intending to use this opportunity with the Insect Mother to annihilate the Insect Clan in one fell swoop.

They deployed countless Warships, and for a time, the sky was a dense, dark mass. From the ground, they looked like a flock of small birds.

Bai Zhi and her companions came out of their rooms to watch the Warships depart one by one, a truly spectacular sight.

The moment the fleet departed, Bai Zhi began preparing food with Yue Junxiao and the others. Seeing how busy she was, some of the off-duty soldiers who had been left behind came over to help.

They all knew that Bai Zhi was the female the Third Prince had brought back with him. Although no one asked, everyone tacitly assumed she was the Third Prince’s mate.

After all, anyone who knew the Third Prince was aware that he’d never had a female companion. This was the first time one had ever been seen by his side.

An hour after Hu Yan left, Bai Zhi took all the ingredients and equipment out of her storage space, planning to make a hot pot and barbecue feast for everyone.

There were so many people to feed that if she didn’t start preparing early, she feared the meal wouldn’t be ready by the time the soldiers returned from battle.

A Beastman soldier, watching Bai Zhi create a bubbling, bright red concoction in a pot, asked curiously, "What are you making?"

Bai Zhi explained, "It’s for hot pot. I’m stir-frying the soup base. It will be ready to eat when they get back from the battle. What the others are preparing on skewers is for a barbecue."

As Bai Zhi began to stir-fry the soup base, a thick, rich aroma filled the entire camp. At the same time, it had a spicy, pungent quality that sent many of the Beastmen who had never encountered chili peppers before into fits of sneezing, with tears and snot streaming down their faces.

Hearing the commotion, Bai Zhi couldn’t help but laugh. "If we were at war with another country," she joked, "could we use this to make them surrender without a fight?"

Unexpectedly, Sang Mo took Bai Zhi’s joke to heart. He glanced at the Beastmen nearby who were still coughing uncontrollably and said seriously, "That’s actually not a bad idea."

Hearing this, Bai Zhi was taken aback that it was Sang Mo saying it. She stared at him for a moment. "Are you serious?"

Sang Mo stated calmly, "Yes. Your chili peppers should be effective against anything that breathes."

Yue Junxiao also leaned in closer. "Sang Mo’s right. Most people really can’t handle this stuff. If you breathe it in, you’ll probably end up just like them."

He then offered an enthusiastic suggestion. "You could test it on those two Insect Clan prisoners first."
