Age of Wizards: I Can Analyze All Things
Chapter 335 - 190: Ancient Runes, Joining Forces"Alright. We'll join forces."
A smile spread across Gong Quanhai's face. "Then it's settled."
With an agreement reached, the atmosphere lightened considerably. The two then chatted about other topics, and the conversation eventually turned to Chenxi City.
"I hear Chenxi City still hasn't decided on its participant for the Battle of the Holy Ring?"
"That's right. None of the Rule Wizards in Chenxi City have any direct descendants, which has led to a gap in their younger generation of Wizards. To this day, they don't have a single Level 3 Wizard under the age of twenty-five."
"What about Pei Ze?"
At the mention of Pei Ze, a flicker of ridicule crossed Gong Quanhai's eyes. "Pei Ze is certainly outstanding among ordinary Wizards, but compared to the Chosen, he ultimately falls short. He's still just a Level 2 Crystalized Wizard."
Yin Yao smiled faintly. He knew about the friction between Red Lotus City and Chenxi City.
The two sides had clashed fiercely in the past during a competition to divide the resources of the Turin Plane.
Pei Ze had turned the tide and won the first match, thoroughly humiliating Red Lotus City and causing many of its Wizards to resent him.
And Gong Quanhai happened to be one of them.
"That's not necessarily true," Yin Yao remarked leisurely. "This is the Battle of the Holy Ring we're talking about. The Dawn Council will surely spare no effort to help Pei Ze advance to a Level 3 Wizard. With over a year to go, that shouldn't be too difficult."
"Even so, Pei Ze's participation in the Battle of the Holy Ring would be nothing more than a formality."
Gong Quanhai scoffed.
"What can a newly promoted Level 3 Wizard possibly accomplish in the Battle of the Holy Ring, a gathering of the Chosen? He'll just be eliminated early on."
Yin Yao smiled but said nothing.
'He wasn't wrong about that.'
The Battle of the Holy Ring was full of Chosen who had long since advanced to Level 3 Wizard, their combat prowess far surpassing that of their peers.
Even for the likes of him and Gong Quanhai, they had to team up to have even a sliver of confidence in making it to the end of the Battle of the Holy Ring.
For a newly promoted Level 3 Wizard fighting all on his own, victory in the Battle of the Holy Ring would be out of the question; he'd likely be eliminated not long after it started.
"Still, if Pei Ze does participate in the Battle of the Holy Ring, that's fine by me. It'll give me a chance to test myself against that famed commoner genius from Chenxi City," Gong Quanhai said, narrowing his eyes.
'Back during the competition between the two Wizard Cities, if I hadn't already become a full Wizard and been unable to participate, how could Pei Ze have ever won that match?'
'He would wash away this shame in the Battle of the Holy Ring.'
A while later, Gong Quanhai took his leave.
After seeing Gong Quanhai off, Yin Yao learned from a servant girl that Shang Tao and Peng Yi had arrived at his residence, so he headed to the main hall.
"When did you two get back from the Shadow Realm?" Yin Yao asked with a smile the moment he saw them.
"We just got back today and came straight here to see you."
The three of them were on good terms, so Shang Tao didn't mince words, asking directly:
"What did Gong Quanhai want with you?"
Yin Yao didn't hide anything, recounting the entire affair and making sure not to leave out the part about Pei Ze.
After listening, Shang Tao and Peng Yi couldn't help but look at each other, surprised that Gong Quanhai had come seeking an alliance.
'On second thought, though, it seemed like a pretty good idea...'
"Speaking of Pei Ze, we actually ran into him in the Shadow Realm," Peng Yi said with a smile, recounting the events. "We really owe him for this one. Shang Tao and I would've been goners otherwise."
Yin Yao chuckled. "In that case, for your sakes, if I run into Pei Ze during the Battle of the Holy Ring, I'll go a little easy on him."
Shang Tao and Peng Yi exchanged a glance, then both shook their heads and chuckled without saying anything.
With Yin Yao's strength, he was certainly qualified to make such a statement.
Although Pei Ze was exceptionally talented, he was still a far cry from the Chosen.
There was a saying circulating throughout the Star Realm Alliance that the Battle of the Holy Ring was really just a competition among the Chosen.
Ordinary Wizards had neither the qualifications nor the strength to take part.
It was already an incredible feat for Pei Ze to even qualify for the Battle of the Holy Ring; one couldn't ask for anything more.
