Chapter 63: Chapter 61: A Traitor

"Ghost Shadow..."

Huangfu Miaomiao murmured the name of her new Skill as her body suddenly dissolved, her clothes scattering to the ground.

She transformed into a flat, thin puddle of black sludge that clung to the floor, just like a shadow.

Feng Ling sighed in relief.

Just as she suspected, the Vampire Worm’s Card characteristic was perfect for escaping!

"Find a crack and slip out on your own!" Feng Ling urged.

Half of Huangfu Miaomiao’s head emerged from the black shadow. "What about you?" she asked Feng Ling.

Su Yuqing’s voice came through the earpiece. "Feng Ling, evacuate as soon as possible. The unidentified slime on the sixth and fifth floors is moving down. Use a flashbang to signal me, and I’ll have the team blast open the building’s outer wall to help you get out."

After a pause, Su Yuqing added a warning, "The rockets are powerful. Make sure you’re far away from the blast radius."

"I still haven’t found the shorty." Feng Ling gritted her teeth, feeling a surge of frustration as she watched the slime multiply around her.

That guy could detect the location of a Boss. If she couldn’t eliminate him today, he would become an endless source of trouble!

She remembered the shorty running upstairs.

’Isn’t he afraid of this expanding slime?’

Feng Ling turned and opened the door to leave.

"Where are you going?" Half-headed Huangfu Miaomiao followed her persistently. Perhaps because of her new Skill, she had grown a bit braver and wasn’t crying anymore.

Feng Ling returned to the hallway, carrying the large Iron Hammer.

After the grenade from before had exploded, the middle section of the hallway ceiling had collapsed. Slime from the fifth floor was now pouring down, submerging the Alien Species corpses along the way.

But strangely, the slime avoided the Cards floating above the corpses without exception.

Unfortunately for them, in the total darkness, they could only get a rough idea of her direction, not her precise location.

Feng Ling couldn’t help but smile.

’I knew it,’ she thought. ’This thing is a semi-Pollution Body on the verge of collapse! If I blow the ceiling of this floor wide open, the slime from the fifth floor will lose its support and fall, covering all the Cards here!’

’And I just happened to kill a lot of Alien Species and extract quite a few Cards.’

’Once the Pollution Body absorbs and digests all these Cards, I won’t even have to lift a finger. It will collapse and disintegrate on its own!’

Feng Ling took out a flashbang, preparing to signal Su Yuqing.

Just then, a beam of light suddenly fell on her!

Her position was completely exposed.

Every eyeball turned toward her!

All the slime surged toward her as well! Their speed wasn’t particularly fast, but they blocked off every escape route around Feng Ling!

Huangfu Miaomiao couldn’t help but cry out in alarm.

"Why haven’t you left yet?!" Feng Ling snapped, her temper flaring.

Feng Ling had no time to scold her. She extended one of her Teeth and Claws and lashed out toward the source of the light!

The fragile flashlight was shattered by the attack, plunging the hallway back into darkness. The figure who had been holding it, however, had deftly dodged the blow.

Feng Ling guessed it must have picked up the flashlight Zhou Diao had dropped.

"Old Mo, there’s a traitor here," a short figure said, floating on the fifth floor in the darkness.

Then another voice spoke up, "Why is a player with a game Boss?"

"Is she being controlled by the Boss’s Skills?" the shorty analyzed.

"She’s going to die anyway..." the other voice replied.

Feng Ling heard their casual back-and-forth clearly. She was now absolutely certain that the floating figure on the fifth floor was the shorty!

’He can’t be allowed to live!’

Feng Ling shot out another one of her Teeth and Claws. The two appendages acted like grappling hooks, biting firmly into the floor of the fifth story. Using them as an anchor, she leaped and hauled herself up to the fifth floor!

This series of actions happened in a split second. By the time the shorty on the fifth floor sensed danger, Feng Ling’s Bone Blade was already bearing down on him like a swift wing.

He tried desperately to dodge, but it was futile. He only managed to avoid a fatal blow to the throat, but both of his legs were severed at the root!

He could no longer float, falling into the slime with a SPLAT.

The slime began to envelop his body. As he sank helplessly into it, a smile appeared on his wrinkled face.

Because he saw that after attacking him, Feng Ling’s Bone Blade had been caught by the slime above. Along with her two Teeth and Claws, she was now ensnared and suspended by the slime.

She was now like a pathetic little bug whose wings were coated in thick honey, completely stripped of her ability to struggle.

However, his smile lasted for only a second.

Because in the next instant, new Teeth and Claws sprouted from Feng Ling’s back! They lunged forward and tore off his mandible!

Huangfu Miaomiao asked anxiously, "How are you going to get out?!"

Feng Ling had no time to think. She ripped a hotel bedsheet, draped it over herself, and charged straight toward where she remembered the window was!

BOOM!!!—

The rocket hit the fourth floor. The massive explosion made the entire building tremble and shake!

Feng Ling was also thrown by the force, sent flying right out the window!

She had wrapped herself in the bedsheet to avoid touching the slime and couldn’t see where she would land. By the time she realized what was happening, a violent impact made her feel as if all her internal organs had been displaced. The pain was excruciating!

"Feng Ling!" Downstairs, a horrified Zhou Diao watched and hurriedly ran over.

Feng Ling rolled several times on the ground before coming to a stop. She struggled to her feet and spat out a large mouthful of blood.

Her two pups rushed over, and Huangfu Miaomiao’s black shadow moved over as well.

Looking at this bunch, all safe and sound, Feng Ling felt a mix of emotions. ’Next time,’ she thought, ’next time I’m definitely digesting a Card that lets me climb or fly.’
