Chapter 601 - This is all Voren’s influence

Earlier, Brad and Curt had managed to organize emergency services. In Killian’s condition, neither of them could carry him out of that changing room without causing him more agony or worsening the catastrophic damage to his body.

Every movement threatened to shift broken bones, to tear already strained ligaments, to send fresh waves of torment through his shattered frame.

"Corvine did this?" Curt was still finding it hard to believe, the words tasting foreign on his tongue.

Had it been Voren, he would not have been surprised—the Alpha had a reputation for ruthless efficiency. But Corvine? The younger man had always seemed so controlled, so measured.

Now, Curt couldn’t help the slight fear creeping through his heart at the remembrance of the contest, at the memory of Corvine’s cold eyes and brutal precision.

Was it even worth it? Well, considering his reason for wanting Liah, it was suddenly worth it again.

His ties with the Corsican mafia gave him great returns, enormous profits that flowed through his casinos like rivers of gold. The establishments were just a cover up for his money laundering, a front that had served him well for years. But he needed more, always more.

With Liah by his side, her fashion and design business would create another cover for the human trafficking business he wanted to venture into.

The thought of expanding his empire, of branching into even more lucrative territories, made his blood hum with anticipation. At the pack, the power of the crown would make it impossible for anyone to suspect or contend with him. He would be untouchable, untraceable, unstoppable.

Also, he needed the Lycans by his side because so far, they were the most dominant in the mafia—in charge of manufacturing guns, gun powder, and the best alcohol. Their reach extended everywhere, their influence absolute. An alliance with them would cement his power forever.

"It’s obvious that Alpha Voren has been training him," Brad added, his expression darkening with each word. The realization sat heavy in his chest, a cold weight that refused to lift.

"Corvine isn’t an Alpha and yet, he defeated an Alpha so mercilessly. Even if it’s in the human world, it’s still unbelievable. This is all Voren’s influence."

After reaching the hospital, they began making arrangements to transfer Killian to the pack as the doctors worked on him.

The medical team moved with practiced efficiency, stabilizing his vital signs, setting what bones they could.

They knew it would take months for him to recover from all those broken bones if left in the hands of humans, months of agony and immobility that could be shortened to weeks with the healing power of their wolves.

Curt had finished making the arrangement after hours of waiting to hear news from the doctors, his patience wearing thin with every passing minute. He was about to check on Killian’s condition again when his phone rang, the shrill sound cutting through the sterile hospital atmosphere.

"Sir, someone hacked into our servers and distorted our winning board." His assistant’s voice crackled with panic. "All customers who played at the casino have won millions. Should we pay, we shall go bankrupt. As we speak, there are more wins coming in, and we can’t even shut down the system."

Curt’s eyes burned red as he tried to process what his assistant was talking about, the words refusing to make sense in his exhausted mind. "What do you mean you can’t shut it down?"

"Sir, please check the news."

Curt ended the call, his fingers trembling as he opened the news app. When he saw the breaking news, tears gathered in his eyes—not of sorrow, but of pure, unadulterated rage.

Customers were jubilating on the screen, celebrating their ridiculous winnings through gambling at the casino. Bodies pressed together in celebration, champagne spraying, voices raised in ecstatic cheers.

Staff were trying to explain there had been a mistake, their desperate gestures falling on deaf ears, but the customers refused to adhere. The chaos had attracted media attention, cameras capturing every moment of the frenzy.

Curt called his hacker immediately, his voice barely controlled. "What am I paying you for? Why haven’t you resolved the bug in the slot machine?"

The hacker spoke helplessly, his voice carrying the weight of defeat. "Don, this is a direct attack from a hacker named Nova Ghost. He’s worldwide acclaimed, and no one even knows his identity. All I can say is, if Nova Ghost attacks, only he can resolve the problem."

"Well then find him!" Curt yelled, his composure finally cracking.

The hacker responded in the same helpless tone, his resignation almost palpable through the phone. "That’s what I said. No one knows his identity. We can only wait for him to reach out and tell us what he wants."

"And the chaos?" Curt was losing his mind, his thoughts spiraling into chaos as he pictured his empire crumbling around him.

The customers would demand their winnings, would sue if they didn’t receive them. The authorities would investigate, would uncover his money laundering, his connections, his secrets.

The hacker suggested, "I suggest we completely close down the casino until we are able to track Nova Ghost to find out what he wants."

Curt combed his hair with his fingers frustratedly, his knuckles white, weighing his options as his mind raced through impossible scenarios.

If he closes down the casino, not only would he lose millions but would also not have a cover for his money laundering activities. "I will call you again. Just give me a little time but tell the staff to calm the customers. I’ll think of something."

He turned to Brad and began to explain the problem, his voice ragged with stress, when Brad’s phone rang. The sound was jarring, another intrusion into their nightmare.

Immediately, the color drained from Brad’s face. His jaw went slack, his eyes widening with disbelief. "What? Are you mad?" His voice rose, cracking with horror. "How is that even possible?"
