Chapter 647: Chapter 647 – Voren’s jealousy

After Voren’s arrival, Liah was in tears, her body shaking with silent sobs as she clutched Corvine’s hand. "Corvine, Voren is here, but I think the Lycans are here too." Her voice was barely a whisper, cracking with desperation.

She knew Corvine could not hear her, but she could only spurt her fears and desperation into the empty air, hoping somehow he would sense her presence.

However, Corvine heard a voice in his subconscious mind, sharp, commanding, utterly unfamiliar. ’Wake up, you dickhead.’

That should be Corvine’s wolf, but the voice sounded different. It was deeper, rougher, carrying an edge of impatience. ’Mad, what happened to your voice?’ Corvine asked, confusion clouding his thoughts.

The wolf sneered, a sound that was almost amused. ’Maddock didn’t want to let go. But after what you’ve been through, and knowing the Lycans are after you, he finally let me in. He refused to say goodbye.’

There was a pause, heavy with unspoken emotion. ’He loved you so much, Corvine. But he was no longer strong enough to protect you.’

’Wait.’ Corvine’s mind reeled. ’You are my new wolf? Weren’t you supposed to come after my coronation?’

’No, Corvine.’ The voice was patient, explaining. ’You were born an Alpha. But when you were coronated as Beta, Maddock was given to you, and I was pushed to the side. He loved you so much, but his strength was never meant to carry an Alpha’s burden.’ He paused again before revealing, ’My name is Sword.’

At the mention of the name, Corvine did not doubt it. He’d loved to fight with a sword more than physical fights. Ravyn had trained him with fist fights, but Voren was the one who perfected it, the one who taught him the art of combat in its purest form.

Corvine remembered encountering a wolf called Sword countless times in his dreams, but he had never taken it seriously. Now, the memory rushed back with startling clarity.

’I’ll miss Maddock.’ Corvine’s voice was heavy with grief. ’But I hope we get along too.’

A warm chuckle echoed in his mind. ’Well, I already healed you, so what do you think?’ Sword’s voice was teasing. ’You better open your eyes before the beautiful lady by your bed dies from tears.’

Only then did Corvine open his eyes. Liah’s stunned face swam into focus, her eyes red-rimmed, her cheeks wet with tears. "Cory," she breathed, and threw herself over him, her arms wrapping around his neck as she littered kisses all over his face.

Corvine loved the sound of her calling him Cory. A smile spread across his face despite everything. "Liah, what happened?"

Liah froze, the reality of the situation crashing back. "Voren and Sera are here." Her voice was urgent, panicked. "But so are the Lycans."

Corvine moved without hesitation. He quickly removed the tubes connected to him, tearing them off with impatience, and ripped off the bandage. Liah’s eyes widened as she realized he had healed completely.

The wound that had been gaping and bloody was now nothing but smooth, unblemished skin.

"How did it happen?" Liah’s voice was incredulous. "You were badly injured. I saw the wound. It was—"

Corvine smiled and embraced her briefly, pressing a kiss to her forehead. "I have a new wolf." His voice was calm, steady. "But let me check the door first."

He wasn’t surprised that Voren was equally surprised to see him standing, his expression a mixture of shock and relief. Corvine quickly embraced him, his grip firm and warm. "Voren, you shouldn’t have come." Corvine’s voice was apologetic. "I’m fine. See? Good as new."

Voren smiled faintly, his eyes betraying his relief. He couldn’t tell Corvine the Lycans could have gotten to him if he hadn’t arrived on time. "I’m glad I came." He pulled back, his gaze sweeping over Corvine’s healed form. "But I’ll take my leave now." He pulled Seraphine into his arms, his hold possessive and protective.

Corvine smiled at Seraphine, his voice warm. "Sera, did you heal me again?" He was testing the truth in what Sword had told him.

Seraphine chuckled, shaking her head. "That’s why I came, but I didn’t get the chance." She winked at him. "You did it yourself. We shall see you at the coronation."

Corvine noticed something strange, a flicker of tension between Voren and Seraphine, a shared look that carried weight. But Voren and Seraphine were already walking away, their footsteps echoing in the corridor.

It was only after Voren and Seraphine arrived at the Grimroot pack that Voren asked the mega question. His voice was low, troubled. "What the hell happened there?"

Seraphine took deep breaths before she explained, her voice thoughtful. "Marsha drew energy from Ravyn’s wolf to stop the wizard’s powers." She paused, her brow furrowing with confusion. "I never expected you to go easy on Jaron."

Voren was slightly jealous, a possessive edge creeping into his voice. "Why didn’t she draw power from Bloodfang?" His jaw tightened. "As for Jaron, I only let him off the hook to be able to crown Corvine. I figured he’d need his arms to do that." His eyes darkened with cold fury. "After the ceremony, nothing will stop me."

Seraphine was satisfied with the explanation, nodding slowly. "Marsha said she doesn’t know why she felt the need to tap more energy from Ravyn’s wolf. But at the time, Ravyn’s wolf had the right amount of energy." She paused, her expression troubled. "She just... followed her instincts."

Voren wasn’t liking this. The uncertainty gnawed at him. "Let’s see the shaman."

Seraphine did not refuse, and as they explained everything to Oriana, the woman listened in silence, her ancient eyes growing distant. When they finished, she spoke, her voice carrying the weight of prophecy.

"You will understand everything at the Blood Moon festival. But now, you and your daughter have been exposed. The Lycans would not stop." She paused, her gaze sharpening. "Vlad gave you some necklaces, right?"

Both of them nodded, their hands instinctively moving to their throats.

"Wear them to the coronation," Oriana instructed. "I’ll tell you why when we get there."

Three days later.

It was Corvine’s coronation, but Voren was still making love to his pregnant wife. The image of Marsha drawing energy from Ravyn’s wolf still unsettled him, a knot of jealousy and confusion that refused to loosen. The only way to get over it was to bury himself into his wife for as long as he could.

For the past three days, he had been going at least two rounds every night. This time, he went three.

"V, I’m exhausted." Seraphine’s soft voice rang out as Voren emptied himself deep inside her, his body shuddering with release. Not even the twin pups she was carrying could kill the jealousy burning deep inside him. The thought of Ravyn’s wolf being connected to hers, even indirectly, made his blood boil.

Voren lay beside her, his chest heaving, his mind still racing. He wanted so much for the Blood Moon festival to take place, to finally get some pressing answers.

He carefully selected matching outfits to match the ruby necklaces Oriana had given them through Vladimir. The deep red stones gleamed against the dark fabric, elegant and powerful. When they reached the Silver Moon pack, gazes pinned on them. Their arrival was a statement, a declaration of power and unity.

They came with their two shamans this time, the two middle-aged women dressed so modestly that no one would know they were shamans. They looked like beautiful women on a date with Vladimir between them, their presence calm and unassuming.

However, just as Voren and Seraphine were about to take their positions on the reserved chairs, Jasper came to them, his face pale with urgency. "Alpha Voren, Luna Sera." His voice was rushed, breathless. "Liah has asked for both of you. It’s quite urgent."
