Alpha's Regret: The Seventh Time was Forever
Chapter 646 - You’ll die before you touch herChapter 646: Chapter 646 - You’ll die before you touch her
Ever since Daisy’s exposure, Ravyn had always felt different. Something had changed inside him, a restlessness that refused to be quelled.
That was why he trained harder. It was as if pushing his body above would give him the answers he craved but it didn’t.
But no matter how he tried, he couldn’t reach his fullest potential. The power was there, lurking beneath the surface, but always just out of reach.
’Do you see it now?’ His wolf, Axel’s voice echoed in his mind, sharp and knowing. Ravyn hated it whenever he chastised him like this before but not anymore.
Now, he craved his wolf’s words and direction like his life depended on it. ’The woman you despised is the key to our full potential. Her wolf is tapping into my energy, but only for protection against the wizard.’
He paused, his voice heavy with regret. ’She hates us and would not let us pass that.’
Ravyn’s expression dulled, the weight of realization crushing him. He had no idea that the woman he’d been searching for, the solution to his fragmented power, had been under his roof for seven good years.
And he had let her go without a fight. The irony was bitter, a poison that spread through his veins.
Now, it was too late. ’Allow her to use as much as she wants.’ Ravyn’s resolve hardened as Axel asked him. ’You have to be aware that it changes nothing. She’ll never give us a chance to make it up to her.’
Ravyn already knew that bit and yet, he wanted to do it for someone special. ’We are doing this for our pup.’
Thus, he didn’t mind if Seraphine’s wolf sucked their energy dry. His conversation with his wolf was interrupted by a familiar voice.
"Mr. Walker, we meet again." Battal’s voice was flat, indifferent, as if they were discussing the weather rather than life and death.
Ravyn forced a small smile, his eyes never leaving the Lycan King. "You left in a hurry. I had no idea our destination was the same." He tilted his head, feigning ignorance. "So what’s the problem?"
He already knew. But he needed to hear it, needed to buy time. He still knew little to nothing about these creatures because his first meeting with Battal was purely business.
He was yet to know if these Lycans had a pack as the werewolves or if they lived their lives permanently among humans.
Sometimes, they mingled with outlanders but packs were forbidden. However, the Alpha king had dined with the devil, giving them the chance to invade his pack like this.
He had even sent some of them to Ravyn’s pack before, making Ravyn more and more interested in knowing about his opponents.
They knew too much about werewolves and yet, werewolves were now learning about them. The irony of the matter was seething.
"One of your kind killed ours." Battal’s gaze swept across the corridor, cold and assessing. "We demand his life, and that of this woman." He glanced at Seraphine, his eyes lingering on her with predatory interest. "But it has nothing to do with our business collaboration."
Ravyn was confused because Voren had mentioned that Jaron wanted his daughter but now it was confirmed that Seraphine was the target. What did they want her for?
Bloodfang growled through Voren, the sound rumbling deep in his chest. "You’ll die before you touch her."
Jamal shook his head slowly, his green eyes glowing with ancient knowledge. "King Legend, she’s also a white wolf." He gestured at Seraphine. "But she’s not the one. She’ll be valuable, but the child is stronger, much more valuable."
Another growl escaped Voren but Ravyn’s expression had darkened too. So the target was indeed the little girl but why? What made her so different from her mother?
"Where is the child?" Battal turned to Jaron, his voice carrying a note of command.
The Alpha King was looking everywhere except at Voren and Seraphine. His eyes darted nervously, his hands trembling at his sides. "I have no idea." His voice was weak, desperate. "Those are her parents. Ask them."
Jamal laughed, a cold, mocking sound. "Good then. Not only will we get the one inside, but also the mother and daughter." His gaze turned an eerie green, and a sword materialized in his hand, glowing with ethereal light. He hurled it toward Seraphine with devastating speed.
Voren moved without thinking, his body blocking hers, ready to take the blow. But before the sword could reach him, Ravyn’s hand shot out, his fingers wrapping around the blade. He caught it mid-flight, his grip unyielding, and sent it back to Jamal with a flick of his wrist.
He was shocked by his own movement as his wolf explained. ’Don’t be flattered. This level of power can only be reached when she’s close.’
Ravyn’s hope died because he knew this power would be hidden forever. Just as Seraphine’s wolf fed on Axel’s energy, she also allowed Axel to reach his full potential, sending the energy to his human. Seraphine would never be his again so this opportunity would never come again.
The sword slashed across Jamal’s chest, drawing blood. His eyes turned red with fury, and Voren seized the moment. He spun around, his claws elongating with deadly precision, and ripped Jamal’s throat.
It was clear that he trained Corvine to be just as ruthless. Blood sprayed across the corridor, but the wizard vanished instantly, his body dissolving into mist, escaping to save himself.
Yeah, he wanted to disappear and appear in the ward to kill Corvine. But Marsha had drawn powers from Axel to block his entry into the ward. Now, he had to save himself to go and rebuild his powers.
Battal and his men engaged Voren and Ravyn in a fight, the clash of bodies echoing through the hospital corridor. Minutes climbed to hours, the battle intense and brutal.
But in the end, none was injured, and none broke a sweat. This was the first time either Battal or Voren had met their match, the first time a Lycan King had faced an Alpha who refused to fall.
"We shall be back." Battal’s voice was cold, carrying the weight of a promise. He turned around and left with his bodyguards, their footsteps echoing in the silence.
Voren turned to Jaron, his voice dropping to a deadly register. "This time, I’m taking both arms, your tongue, and your eyes." His claws elongated, gleaming with deadly intent.
But the door behind him opened before he could move. "Voren." A familiar voice spoke behind him, weak but unmistakable.
Voren froze, his heart seizing in his chest. He turned around slowly, disbelieving.
"Corvine?" His voice cracked with emotion. "How did you make it out?"
